Mara this guy is too good in what he do, I've always loved trucks but unfortunately I've only had a ride once in my life 🤣

I have to admit I love the Actros. I use a 2545 for work and it is a very good and comfortable truck to drive. I have the slightly larger one with the flat floor so it has an extra step and can take a bit of used to. The gearbox is a bit dim-whitted when it comes to heavy loads but most of my work involves a full length trailer with appx 4-5T on so is more than capable for that sort of work and averages around 10-10.5MPG (it will manage heavy loads fine but probly a good idea to shift it into manual for that especially on motorways for the hills) As for the styling I love it very well laid out and easy to reach buttons but the speakers are a bit naff when it comes to bass. overall I would take an Actros over most others in the "fleet" spec range of trucks.

If Top Gear had a trucking channel....

Used to drive the previous model Actros, a 2012 2651 and loved it in every way (and still do love it) however after switching to a 750 Volvo FH16 and then to a Scania R520 I realised how underpowered the Merc really is. But it was and still is a dream to drive, takes you anywhere you need to go in good comfort...just takes some time doing it.

I believe they were programmed to be in such way to extent it's longevity of their product...they are slow in hills so that not to overheat their parts all unlike their competitors all which will use their full power...look at the export market, the actors is the most most favourite truck to the 3 world country and they will say it outlast many of their rivals....in my country they prefer Volvo due to parts availability..

Ive been in a 1843 the last few weeks, and its the worst ride ive expeienced by a mile, 4 wheelers can be bad but its a joke, our old dafs are better😂 my only other complaint is feeling like you sit a bit high because of the low window positions but gives good visibility! Keep up videos, always enjoyable! 👍🏻

I don't know much about trucks but they are very interesting. Having so many gears and the various functions is so interesting. It must be something engineering something to pull such heavy loads for hundreds of thousands of kilometers with minimal down time. It's so cool all of this. Who makes the best trucks by the way? I've watched a few of these videos of yours and the Mercedes one look well made in a typical German fashion.

Generally Scandinavian trucks beat all, but its personal preference.

ilove ACTROS THE best

The Actros is good if you go for the stronger models. Gearbox isnt as good as volvo i-shift but its much better than the old generations of Mercedes powershift units. For Norwegian roads its a bit too soft on the front axle, hitting the bump stop a bit early. I prefer Scania and Volvo but its a good truck. Thanks for sharing with us Stavros

In the African context, the actros mp1, mp2, mp3 were the most reliable trucks and you can not imagine modifications made to them to be driven into the middle of nowhere with no roads and mud roads.

mercedes purchased freightliner in the u.s.so to compete in the conventional market they are nice vehicles got to have a nose on a truck

also use a trolley or trailer lever for hills to truck doen,t roll back while attempting to move foorward from a hill I guess you use your emergency lever for that

apparently the air brake system is different than the u,s with an emergency lever versus two buttons for tractor and trailer

The best thing a merc does is set off car alarms in the middle of the night. prefer Swedish Volvo scanny, even the French Magnum far exceeds. Regards. Al

Wondering how the camera mirros will be to drive with and how much ligt a screen like that will shine with and if it destroyes your night vision. Or they have special software to dimm the lights for them and dim a shiny headlamp in the mirror.. Can se problems and advanteges... What is your take on them ?

I really rated my Actros.

I drive one of these I have the flat floor one very comfortable but lacks power big time and when pulling away from a junction sometimes it stops halfway out to find a different gear it's not 1 year old yet and already had 4 recalls

Same issues with mine, doesn't know what gear to be in when pulling away, fairly basic cab, bit dated now too

it wasn't entering in eco mode because maybe it wasn't configured to have eco mod, for example my Mercedes doesn't have power mode but it has Eco mode

yers ago working for the orange company they set their trucks at 55 mph it was horrible lose momentum for hills now you can drive the speed limit so even with less power you can hold gears longer to cap hills

Can you do more rigid trucks

In my opinion the truck look nice from the outside but the interior looks very dated. Those gauges look very old fashioned. Also would it not make more sense for them to make the driver side outside storage compartment bigger than the passenger side. It would save the driver walking around the truck to get things. Just my thoughts on it. She is no Scania.

Mr.Mister the compartment is bigger on the passenger side because the Steering wheel is on the wrong side. I’m not trying to make a joke. The truck is build as LHD and is adapted to RHD. ALSO, this is a very basic spec’d truck from the looks of it.

Hi Stavros, a nice vid again matey, just don’t like this truck, very primitive interior. Why don’t they make all their cabs full width.? Probably the mega space (daf)? Is much better. Merc just look like they’ve built this truck down to a price.cheers 👍🏻🚚

Actros comes in 2.3m wide and 2.5m wide cabs, this is the 2.3m wide cab, which is better for getting in and out multiple times a day, with a more staggered step layout.

A lot of people knock the merc actros mp4 but I use a 2545 big space flat floor model and I cannot fault it... pulls well enough flat floor and a comfy bunk... prefer it over the 460 iveco stralis hiway we have its just a better built truck and far better on fuel and adblue !

Why can’t we have these in the United States

The mattress in these is easily the thinnest and most uncomfortable on the market. The quality of the standard audio equipment is also piss poor, the radio sounds cheap. However they are nice to drive,but I would pick a Volvo in our hard given the choice.

Wait.. Do you guys in Ireland use Km/h instead of miles?? How come?

Kilometres and litres per/100 km is the norm. Miles per hour are as outdated as using a sundial to tell the time. The US and UK are probably the last places left . . .

in EU trucks aren't allowed to do more that 60MPH on motorways but for some daft reason there is a speed limiter which can not be set higher than 56MPH. Work that one out lol

Drove one of these today and I mean in real life, I must say the gear boxes are absolutely shocking. And it was an Auto as well. Worst one I drove so far. I am going to say this, I prefer a Renault Premium over this.

What is the towing capacity??
