Good video

How is the transmission? I found the 7 DCT in the 1.3 petrol pretty unpredictable and it shifted too late in the first 2 gears. It was fine after that but it didn't make a good impression for the price of the vehicle. Both the VW 7 speed DSG and the Kia/Hyundai 7 DCT were better.

It’s way better in the 200D. It’s a 8 DCT instead of the 7 DCT and the 200D is Mercedes own newly designed engine. The engines in the 180, 200 and 180D are Renault build engines. And especially the A200 petrol is overturned for its size and feels (and sounds) stressed.

@@Flaksting It's more about the programming. I've driven quite a few 1.3 turbos in Renaults and Dacias. They don't sound good (none of the modern 4 cylinders do to be honest) but their performance is fine. As for the DCT, I have experience with the 7 DCT in the A class, the CLA and in the Renault Clio. In the Clio it was good. In the Mercedes, it was horrible. I also daily a 1.5 dci with a stick shift and I have no complaints about the engine.

ast5515 I agree. The DCT 7 and 1.3 petrol is just not a good match. I felt it was way to jolty and uneven. The DCT8 and the 2.0 Diesel (A200d and A220d) was night and day though. Smooth sailing and really a cruising machine.

@@Flaksting Problem is, the price difference between the A class and the C class is less than 10% when matching equipment and engines. And for that kind of money I would rather have a rear wheel drive estate. Much more practical and fun to drive. It's also a torque converter auto rather than a DCT. I love the concept of the DCT but I fear reliability, especially in a newly designed one. It's also the first one Merc made. Their previous ones were either Renault or Getrag or whoever.

ast5515 Well isn’t that always an issue; you can always upgrade to the the next thing. Each model has their audience. I for example live in a major European capital with limited parking, where you always search for ages for a spot to squeeze a parallel parking in. I also commute a long distance to work and rarely bring passengers. So needing a small bit cruisable car, the 200d fit my bill perfect. I came from a Golf7 and looked at Golf8, BMW1, A3 but decided to try something new and haven’t looked back. I went for a A200d with AMG pack and Premium Pack (the two really must haves) (+ a metallic paint of course). I just went MBs website and tried to spec a C class with exactly that (200d, only AMG and Premium + paint) The price difference was +53%

At this video your maximum speed was exactly at 120 km/h.

Damit du dir den besten Vergleich machen kannst, kann ich dir nur empfehlen auf meinem Kanal die Videos rückwärts bis zum Mazda 3 zu schauen. Von der jetzigen A-Klasse bis dahin wurden alle Videos mit der selben Kamera/Mikro aufgenommen.
