Had mine for 3 years plus, road and track use (including the Ring) and I love the car. Close to 23,000 miles added in my hands and everyone a smile. Special special car that not everyone warms to immediately but everyone owner remembers with fondness.

Amazing car, the AMT GT R was the best bang for buck vs the PRO / BS. Will be a classic going forward.

Everything about this car is just nuts if you’re into hardcore. I was seriously looking at the Aston but it doesn’t handle anywhere close to the AMG and i like DCT quirks better too. Try to drive both they are so different

ya they are gorgeous, I had a 2018 SL63, it was a blast, not as aggressive as a GTR of course, but still fast and fun, and I dont fit in a GTR or I probably would have bought one, or a GTC.. im 6'5" tall.. doesnt work for me, V8 sounds great ! Take it to the track and run some quarter miles, I would love to know what you get compared to my SL63..

the GTR chassis is really what sets it apart from any other cars AMG or Mercedes ever produced it's so damn good.

@@autofanaticcars did drive a GTR and loved it, but was cramped inside, my knees were just touching the dash a little when seat all the way back. it was better handling and more sporty than my SL63, didnt feel as front end heavy.

The car is really good, but you should take more time to understand all the settings of your car and adopt a better seating position for full control of the beast. The famous knob you turned is about traction control setting :-)

I know all about the car but i live and drive in the NYC area not enough room to really have fun with TC off safely it’s best for race track.

@@autofanaticcars Listen in 3:55 what you say about the TC knob. You do not sound fully sure about what the setting really does and how it influences your ride?

Great car mechanically but not sold on the styling. Seen them in various colors and subjectively not doing it for me but to each their own…

I love the GTR a lot more than black series! Totally agree about G80, Completely different animal. Heck my 1m is better imo.

Yeah 1m was great the G80 is great but it’s almost too refined and good but for me the uncomfortable seats are killing it for me and manual box isn’t great in terms of feel. I really want a E92 one day

Do u think the normal amg gt, amg gt c or s transmit the same or similar feel and driving experience the amg gt r offers? Also I was thinking in the future if its possible to convert an amg gt s to an gt R only for the front and rear bumper. Do u think its going to fit? IK its weird but yh great video still. Ciao

The AMG GTR is extremely stiff and raw you should try to drive all versions to see which might be right for you the GTR is a very rough ride

have you driven an R8? How would you compare it to the GTR? I'm ironically considering a G80 xdrive, R8 and GTR. Only reason for the G80 is obvious to fit my son in but comparing the 3.

The R8 are great cars i was considering one but it seems too soft and cruiser like for me but AMG GTR is way stiffer, more raw and exciting. i have a G80 its a good daily but doesn’t excite me like my other cars cant go wrong with either R8 or AMG

Just drove the Alfa with the Sparco seats and they're way too narrow for me. Wouldn't say that I'm big, but I don't think I could do it everyday.

Sport buckets are really subjective as we all are anatomically different shapes but the Sparco fit me so perfectly that i use those seats as a guide in every car now. The AMG seats are great as well with lumbar and lots of adjustments

@@autofanaticcars 100% and the Alfa is amazing in-person. Love the presence, but didn't get to drive it very hard, obviously I'm not going to beat on a dealers new car that hasn't been broken in. If there was a dealer closer to me I would probably buy one. I haven't driven the BMW yet but I'm leaning towards the IS500. It sounds amazing and I guess I'm getting old and like the fairly comfortable ride. You do a great job with your channel. I can't get enough of the GT R content!

I wonder if they depreciate as badly over there as they do in the UK? Buying a new one is a superb way to lose money.

AMG GTR is a far more raw visceral experience the R8 is a great car overall but once I test drove the AMG i bought the car on the spot it’s that good. It also depends what your looking for in a car.

@@autofanaticcars That's what I've experienced in a ride-along in an R8 V10. The quattro just makes it such a "surgical" feel idk how to describe better. Which is why I'm interested in the RWS version(2018 had 999 RWD only special). How has the maintenance been? The M178 is as known a quantity as the R8's V10, but how has everything else been? My next largest decision factor is the reliability as this car will be driven a lot, which is why I land between those two.

the AMG GTR has been great I have done two oil changes myself, brake flush last week and cabin filter twice as well as a new set of tires, Cup2. The car is relatively easy to work on minus a few areas that would be a bitch if need be. Now is the time to buy one the market dipped but these cars are destined to shoot up in value very soon I feel, very limited compared to how many R8 were manufactures not even close by comparison.

@@autofanaticcars Nice. I work on all similar issues on my current AMG. Just can't do any engine-out type maintenance. I love the AMG cars and the GTR was always my first pick, but I am saddened by what they've turned into. I wish I could test drive both, let alone test drive them the same day.

Just wow, I think Mercedes is maintaining their signature look but bmw is paying designers to design the worst ugly face lift versions of old super gorgeous/ aggressive beast machines.

the Giulia QV is an amazing driving car but the AMG GTR is on an entirely different level of performance, sound, and handling the AMG GTR for me is way more fun but the Giulia is something you can drive daily and have fun.

Be it a car or a bike if you park it up without giving it a 2nd look before you enter the house then you have the wrong vehicle
