Mercedes 300SD W126 - Pre-Chamber Inspection and Cleaning

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

#impalamansgarage1
After the Monark nozzle fiasco I decided to keep the Firad nozzles
in the engine. However I still wanted to inspect the prechambers
in cylinder 3, 4 and 5.

Pre chamber collar... I've used an impact wrench. Worked like a charm. Om606 cold. No warmup. Pre chambers came out easy too. But the impact saved me some trouble. I was looking at my pry bar bending and was too scared to put a pipe on it. Impact made it enjoyable.

Informative video. Ty for this. Also put the monarch injectors in a ultrasonic cleaner. It may free them up and clean them.

Well I'm glad the prechambers are OK. That is a lot of shake, rattle and roll. Lol Everyone else here has mentioned the mounts which I remember you replacing and also those dampers. Seems you set the valves not to long ago too. So I guess it's down to uneven firing caused by the injectors. I always wished I'd of had a 6 instead of the 5 cylinder. People always told me they ran smooth as silk. I never was around one though. I hope you get a satisfactory handling with the seller of those Monarchs. I'd say they should have been sealed in some kind of lubricant since they are so precise to keep them from corrodeing.

They had what appeared to be a suitable amount of lube in the containers. Who knows what happened. I think the injection pump on this car needs a little work. That is big money though. I've looked at everything else. Once you come off idle it runs fine. The idle is just shaky. Injection pump rack damper pin is new as well.

@@vintage76vipergreenBeetle Indeed I have increased the idle RPM. It had a nice effect actually. This was several months ago. I've only measured it with the tach however. I'd like to measure it more precisely with a digital tach however.

85 300 D 173000 MI my question has nothing to do with pre Chambers. I've done the water bottle test from the hose coming from the expansion tank I'm getting bubbles and the coolant gets really dirty. Is there a way I can tell if a head gasket blown or if the heads cracked?

What does the under side of the oil filler cap look like? Brown sludge is a sure sign. Same thing for the under side of the cooler reservior cap. You can buy a kit that checks the coolant. Look on Amazon for "Block Tester BT-500 Combustion Leak Test Kit - Made in USA". Any tiny bobbles in the engine oil on the dip stick? White smoke from the exhaust? Lastly engine oil can be sent off to a lab for analysis.
