Mental Health Help for Children: Essential Resources Every Parent Needs!

Disclaimer: This video is for educational purposes only. A licensed professional is needed to properly assess what your child may need. If your child, teen, or young adult is in immediate danger, always contact 911 or go to your nearest emergency room FIRST to ensure safety.
In this video, we discuss In-Home Counseling services, also known as Intensive In-Community (IIC) services, for children, teens, and young adults.
If your child is struggling with depression, anxiety, a history of trauma, or substance abuse, IIC services can connect them with a therapist who can work with them in both community and home settings. These services teach skills to help your child stay well and make progress.
Here are three ways to get these services started:
1. Mobile Response:
If your child is experiencing depressive symptoms or has recently disclosed thoughts of self-harm, contact Mobile Response for an assessment. They can determine if these services are necessary and help get them started immediately.
NJ Mobile Response Number: (877)-652-7624 (Select the option for immediate help to speak with a dispatcher)
In PA, each county has a different number.
For example, Bucks County, PA Crisis Number: (800)-499-7455 (They can send someone for a safety assessment)
Bucks County Main Office (for counseling services): (215)-345-5300 (Open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM)
2. PerformCare:
If your child is not in immediate crisis but needs more therapy than just one hour a week, contact PerformCare. Provide a detailed description of your child's situation, and a licensed professional will assess if these services are needed.
NJ PerformCare Number: (877)-652-7624
PA PerformCare Number: (888)-722-8646
3. In-Home Referral:
If your child or teen is already seeing a therapist but is not making progress or their symptoms are worsening, discuss IIC services with their therapist. The therapist can complete and submit the "Clinical Summary Template" to PerformCare. Once submitted, you will typically be contacted within a week to set up IIC services.
