FYI The song doesn't just come from the NW it comes from the Nimiipuu (Nez Perce). It's sacred song and when sang it should be honored. It comes from when the Nimiipuu were at war with the US amry at the Bighole Battlefield where over 80 men, women and children were killed. Just a little history behind that song that people should know.
