    51 years old. Menopause hit me like a freight train. I have a male doctor in Canada and he couldn't be bothered talking about helping a menopausal woman. "Take Black Cohosh"..that was it, not kidding. Took health into my own hands. Searched the internet, found you among others talking about women in menopause. Estrogen, Progesterone, vitamins, exercise (cardio and weights) , limited alcohol intake, magnesium, Vit D, Melatonin. I feel SO much better and vital again and getting sleep, finally! Thank you !!! xx

    This nutrition advice is absolutely spot on. Finally someone talking sense. Low carb/keto is the best thing you can do for your body and mind. Fasting is incredibly beneficial as well. I’m 54 and have never felt or looked better eating a high fat low carb diet. I often fast for at least 24 hours 4 times a week. Keep up the good advice 😊

    Hi Liz, I found your channel per chance and love the advice you share. At 65 I have never felt healthier and am thinner than in my 30's, 40's and 50's. I love fasting and most days I only have one meal a day (OMAD). I have never had to take HRT and have almost sailed though menopause. I agree about eating smaller portions and my meals are all greens, healthy fats and small portion of protein. I still have my sweet tooth which is my daily fight. Thank you once again. oxo

    Hi Liz, I can’t believe I’m actually sending you a message because I’ve been a huge fan of yours for such a long time now so this feels a bit surreal. I bought your book when it first came out and loved it! I’m not a fan of story books but I love factual things on health and nutrition and since I turned 45 in January I’m even more interested in menopause/hormone information. I’m convinced my Perimenopause began when I turned 28 and suddenly my sex drive changed and moods became a little worse and it’s just been increasing symptoms over the years where I’ve been having mini hot flushes since 35/36 but mainly the week before my period. So the only way I can describe the mini ones is having an overwhelming feeling of heat rising from my chest up into my face then it lasts for about 10 seconds and starts to calm down again but I’ve also noticed my blood pressure is much higher depending on my diet, how much sleep and exercise I’ve had which doesn’t help because it prevents me from doing high impact exercise. Lockdown certainly hasn’t helped as I’ve gone up a dress size but I’m gradually getting the weight off again with intermittent fasting which I love but I still need to get my love of chocolate under control because I know that’s where I’m going wrong. I’m really looking forward to exercise classes reopening soon and I’m going back to my one to one Pilates sessions as that helped strengthen my body, helped me tone up and helped my mental well-being. Now that I know I can follow you on KZread rather than just your segments on This Morning that you used to do, I’ll be watching all of your videos and will tune into your Podcasts. Thank you so, “SO” much for everything you have done in helping women understand about the menopause, health, skin, diet, nutrition, exercise, and mental well being because your advice has helped me and so many other people to live a better lifestyle💛

    The weight gain is caused more by not treating HRT in the right order. I would treat low Testosterone and low progesterone and low DHEA before any estrogen are given unless the estrogens are less than say 40% of levels in mid 30s. The HRT doctors are quick to give estrogen before bringing up progesterone levels which fall up to 80-85%. The HRT doctors downplay the importance of progesterone as a master control hormone which regulates more than 6 other hormones including insulin and thyroid and the stress hormone cortisol. Lastly both water solvable B1 and fat solvable B1 are very important for carbohydrate metabolism.

    48 and a fitness instructor and pretty good with my food, sleep health and hydration. I sleep fairly well although not so well after a few wines at the weekend (to be expected). I've had a lot of stresses in the last 10 years so, like you mentioned, have never really been sure whether my anxiety stems from that or the menopause. My nutrition is good and I coach groups of women about healthy balance and how to work on healthy habits (exercise, sleep, relaxation, hydration, good fats, proteins and healthy carbs all of which you talk about) Now I pretty sure I'm in the menopause so have been delving a bit deeper into my options. My biggest problem that has crept up on me over the last 6 months is my changing body. I ache (my hips especially) and even when I take my exercise down or get cover for my classes my body just aches so much some mornings I feel like an old woman. I lost my mother to breast cancer so listening to your talks recently have been a massive help to me so thank you. I've decided to share my findings with my health and wellness group so will be sharing some of your talks to the women who I know suffer with many of the endless symptoms. Thank you !

    I’ve lost track of how many years I’ve told my doctor there is something wrong with me. I’ve done every diet under the sun, low carb increases my joint pain, keto reduces.. but both give me problems in different ways. With keto it’s mainly down to constipation…. Which is better than severe joint pain! I’ve now realised Is I’m in perimeno.. trying to find MY balance is so hard, tiring, and depressing. I’ll certainly never go low fat again, that’s for sure. Healthy Fats make me feel much better and I can stay at a stable weight, even though that’s over weight.. Better than gaining weight I suppose. Stuck.. lost.. no help available 😢

    Hi. Thanks for these. All of a sudden I’m putting weight on around the middle. I was on the combined pill which helped but I’m now too old apparently .. so is It good to take hrt? Do we need a combined type with progesterone? Do they increase your weight or reduce it?

    Just a quick question. You speak about peri menopausal and menopausal women but what about post- menopausal women? Sd post-menopausal girls simply follow the advice for menopausal women or is there additional advice about for example exercise and supplements, that we should be aware of? Thankyou so much for all your invaluable advice.

    Here in Denmark we are advised to stay away from Estrogen, and only use Progesteron gel and a small amount of Estriol E3, as all menopause problems are caused by estrogen dominance, so its important to rebalance hormones - not add more estrogen!

  • @lizearlewellbeing

    @lizearlewellbeing

    Thanks for commenting - this is not actually the case according to menopause specialists and the UK's official NICE guidelines. Menopause symptoms are caused by a loss of estrogen (Estradiol 17). More info here if you'd like to see: www.menopausedoctor.co.uk

    I believe that the commercial dairy cream is filled with toxic hormones they inject in the animals and it was making me bloated and gain weight. In 2 months my stomach has gotten flatter and I have lost some weight and this was just from recognizing that dairy cream is not healthy for me and I stopped drinking it altogether. I had theorized about it for months and wanted to try to see if I was right. The more I use oat milk, the better I feel and the weight has stayed off. Just thought it was kind of interesting since I never heard anyone mention it.
