I visited the Mena House many times in the early 1980's whilst working for an oil industry service company. They had the best cabaret in town!

I stayed at Mena house in the early 1980's for nearly 6 months...I was 22 yrs old and working at the Egyptian Remote Sensing Institute. That was during the pre-Marriot days and I must say, I liked the look of Mena Hose then more than it appears today under Marriot ownership. I used to rent an Arabian horse for as little as $8.00 US for half a day and ride through Giza and out around the Pyramids.

Used to go there in the 80s. My parents used to have membership which allowed us to use the pool and facilities at the weekend. This place formed one of many fond memories of growing up in Egypt. Now seems like a lifetime ago.

It's 1k USD now a night, however, they have relatively inexpensive massages at the spa.
