Yes it was a yawn, because it doesn't matter. It's just random. No athlete will specifically and only train for kayak-cross, because the randomness is too high. It is just a new discipline for slalom-athletes who already go to the olympics too have a bit of fun. All this because the ICF and the OIC find it more "telegenic". This sport has zero background, no one has doing it professionally before last year. And it is total unconsideration of other kayak sports as downriver racing or marathon racing where there are practitioners, enthusiasts, an international community, and history behind. A true shame, all to get more uninterested people behind their TV in Paris. The olympics doesn't turn about the sport anymore, it is about rentability.
