That is just about as smooth as I have seen Matt run recently. Very relaxed. No struggling and no fighting it.

..almost first time! Great stuff. He really needed to relax on the strides/arm-movement for a long time now over the 400. Really needed to stop "trying" -

the last 100m he was starting to break down a bit.... He needs to break 45s soon to be any real contender for a spot on the open 400m. I do think he will make the relay at the minimum.. exciting year for track and field

@@user-xp1yq7ef1l I agree!!! He also ran the 200m, so was that race on the same day and before or after the 400m. Anyways this should be his breakout year only time will tell!

What happened to Knighton?

Why not identify Alison dos Santos in the first heat? Brazilian world-class 400m hurdler, World Champion, Olympic medalist (bronze) in the world record race in Tokyo. He's deserving of the recognition.

They did the same with Boling. I was expecting they would mention Dos Santos. He is one of my favorites and has tremendous strength.

Bolling actually looked relaxed for a change--at least up until the last 20 meters. He could be awesome if he ran that way more often.

SO glad Boling is back to his old form of relaxed and controlled running. How come the announcers didn't mention him to the very end?

Can someone please look bk at Matthew Hudson Smith every year for the last 4 to 5 years pulls up at the start or after 100 meters in nearly every single race at start of season

I remember seeing Aldrich Bailey back in HS and how he was setting records and thinking he would become the next Michael Johnson but he hasn’t improved since HS in the 400 like idk if it’s a coaching thing or he hit his physiological limit. I know he started running the 400 hurdles but he wasn’t really that all competitive there either.

Does it have something to do with financing that the (awful) commentary only mentions whose clothing they're wearing, not their college, coach, club or country?

No Olympic standards met here. If selection was made today we would have 1 collegian and 2 High Schoolers on the squad lol.

Just the start of the outdoors season. Probably wouldn't want to push too hard considering health is a big priority this season.
