Well done to the commentator for acknowledging Kirani James in relation to what he have been through since Rio. Being diagnosed with graves disease and losing his mom. All the time he missed away from the sport and coming back to run sparingly to conserve his energy. To once again win an olympic medal. Is just a remarkable achievement. Well done kirani. Also congrats to Gardener and Zambrano.

Even before he realized he had medaled in this race , Mr. Kirani James tho exhausted , saw it fit to congratulate the other runners. He is an exceptional athlete who has exhibited great sportmanship for over 10 years . For this , we the fans of track n field give him the honorary gold medal of lifetime sportsmanship !

Showboating in itself isn't so bad, a lot of the time it's done in jest, and adds to the entertainment value. I couldn't imagine sports without it and there've been so many memorable poses and celebrations throughout the years. Even the handwaving, I'm sure he knew himself it would stand out because it'd go against the grain in this specific case. It's when it's done in bad taste, or to insult other competitors when it becomes a problem, to me anyway.

The 400 is probably the best track race to watch. What happened to U.S. 400 meter racing after the Reynolds, Johnson Wariner, Merritt eras? The U.S. had dominated this event for so long.
