Functions are based on an input and output, an x and a y. Depending on the equation, you get different types of lines. The lines represent values of possible solutions. For example: the quadratic equation y=x^2 where y is the output and x is the input. If you plug in x =1 for x, you get 1^2, which is 1. If you use a graphic calculator like Desmos, you can find the point (1,1) as one of its solutions on the line. If you plug in x=2 on the same equation, you get 2^2, which is 4. You can find the point (2,4) on that line of solutions. If you plug x=3, you get 3^2, or 9. (3,9) is one of the solutions on the line… and so on. But if you tried to input a negative number to the eq y=x^2, you’d only get positive numbers. And so x=-1 would give point (-1,1) x=-2 would give the point (-2,4)… etc and if you look at the shape on desmos, it’s a parabola. A U shape. Once you recognize the shape, you can use the general shape to apply all sorts of transformations for more complicated graphs like y= x^2+5 or y=-3x-3 Linear lines are relatively straightforward, as it keeps going on one direction. Any number you plug in works. But with log functions, the rule is that you can’t apply log on any negative numbers. It will give an error. And so can’t have x as a negative input. That’s why it’s only drawn on the right hand side of the graph, where x is always positive. It gets close to 0, but never quite touches it and never gets to the negative side They didn’t show rational functions on here, but the idea of rationals and why linear equations work is that you can’t have any denominator as 0. You can’t divide anything by 0 cause it will give an error. For linear, you can plug in any number from -infinity to infinity and it works. There is no limit to what you can plug in, what x can be. The shape of the lines are defined by these errors, such as the quadratic equation with an even exponent (odd numbered exponents can give you negative numbers) define the general shape of the function. Sorry this is long XD I took precalculus during the summer so it’s fresh in my mind. But yeah, I was never a big fan of math either because it was a lot and it was difficult to wrap my head around. But I had a really good teacher/professor and she really helped to clear things up. Ask your teacher for help and do some practice problems and it’ll become easier
@anonymousperson3023
Жыл бұрын
No explained why or did you just not listen? Literally. All it takes is 10 minutes of paying attention in your class and you'd understand why these lines do what they do. It's just that when you hit upper math, there's no point going through an in depth explanation since this should be routementary stuff by then

@@thekharijones memorization isn't nearly as useful in math as it is in other subjects like history, bio, chem, or world language. Ultimately you shouldn't be seeking memorization, you should be seeking understanding and insight. Memorization like that is how you end up with the speds who say "wE NeVEr DiD ThAT bEfOre!". There are a few things to remember, obviously, like you can do anything but don't do it wrong, can't directly divide by zero etc. Understanding, fundamental comprehension, and the skill to gain insight and information from limited information is how you succeed. Its how i learned multiplication when i was 6 based off one unexplained example, simply "10×2=20", or a more recent example when I had a problem on a test about limits and i had figured out Lopital's rule on my own without ever being taught it, hinted about it, or even told of its existence. Thinking through it in my mind, a possible way to find such a limit, is far more valuable than memorizing. Memorization

Best way to draw graphs: 1.Find zeroes of the function if possible 2.find limits are -inf, 0 and + infinity 3.check properties like Symmetry about some line, if it is odd, even or none 4.find the behaviour of the derivative 5. Find where the function goes off to +-infinity

@anonymousperson3023
Жыл бұрын
No explained why or did you just not listen? Literally. All it takes is 10 minutes of paying attention in your class and you'd understand why these lines do what they do. A tip for advanced learners, se the trend and then draw a graph, using all possible "weapons" like value at a certain point, dy/dx, point where the graph gives solution and the properties of the inverse. You will be able to beat desmos using these skills and will learn how to draw random graphs.

Math is fun when u know what you're doing 💀
Remember, 4 out of 3 people are bad at math.
My bro: Math is like going to gym for your brain❤ Me:-it's possible, if you have a brain 🧠😂
Or maybe, ye know, linear means idk, fucking linear? What else would the graph look like if not linear… you don’t even need any math knowledge. Just the definition of the word linear is enough…
Hmm so i can choose random letter and draw a grapich? Nice(!)

Tangent graph just like logarithm graph. But rotate reverse 90 degree
Waw this is great 🎉❤
It would be easier to memorise or use the graphs then to remember those letters.
"Math is fun" this is not the fun thing about math at all, you'll feel the fun of math when you understand the stuff and know how did it come and why are things as how they are, not by memorizing how functions look like using a trick.🤷♂️
animators: I don't have such weakness.
