What a player! And very classy, too. I talked to him at a card show in Toronto in 2015. We must have chatted for about 15 minutes. It was great! #RIPLegend!

Tony was everything you wanted in a shortstop. He made every play defensively, even the ones nobody else could make. At the plate, he just did whatever it took to get on base. The best Blue Jay ever.

I was always a fan of Fernandez's casual batting stance, looking like he might drop the bat any second with two delicate a grip, then suddenly slapping the ball down the line for another triple. Of course, there's no way to know for sure, but the '87 Jays could have won it all if Bill Madlock hadn't taken Fernandez out. George Bell won the MVP but I always felt Tony was the real glue of that team.

A reminder that we’re only here for a short time. One of the best Jays of all time. A legend at shortstop. Still blown away by him winning 4 consecutive golden gloves in row. Amazing.😢
