Memories in "The Adventure Zone"
Фильм және анимация
Some clips from a fan trailer I have been working on putting together, released to celebrate the release of the final episode of the first arch of "The Adventure Zone". A fantastic podcast by the McElroy Family.
I'll be following this video up with some high res still and images on my twitter in the weeks following the end of Beauro of Balance arch so if your interested check those out on twitter @KyleBallschmidt . (Also if there's any TAZ cosplayers in the Chicago area get in touch as there is more TAZ fan films to make)
Thanks to the help of my wife and my friend Chris Roman on some artwork done for this piece, Reel Captivation for computer use for rendering and also the McElroys for making a world of characters and adventure to fill our imagination.

I'd play that game. *spams zone of truth in every battle*
Love the MCU (McElroy Cinematic Universe), can't wait for Phase 2.
Dat galaxy splitting into the seven planes tho... Very, very nicely done.
This is like the HBO intro to a The Adventure Zone show. So good.

Or a Netflix show. I mean, hell, put some credits over it and it could be exactly that.
Not joking, I literally got shivers running down my spine watching this. This is amazing, like, professional-quality awesomeness. All the little details put in, and how clean everything looks, I can't imagine how long this took. Every Adventure Zone fan should see this.

I also got chills it’s so beautiful and like no joke got me so hyped I felt like I was going to explode even though I know it’s not real.
Dang though. When that camera angle pulled out and showed the Rockport Limited, I think all the air in my lungs just left and I had a hard time breathing until the end of this. Really well done.
@Griffin McElroy, hire this dude and make a movie

Brandon Ballschmidt Can I put my vote in for a miniseries instead?
The fastest way to make me cry? The slow contemplative music Griffin made with an amazing set of visuals. Amazing work, absolutely gorgeous and impactful.
this brought a tear to my eye. I think the adventure zone is going to be one of those things that just sticks with you as you grow up. I'll remember it forever fondly, my three boys and their companions. This video captures the whole story so neatly. The video is just stunning. It feels like a preview for a video game or an animated movie. I absolutely love it
Something about seeing Lucas' lab and Refuge as actual places gave me huge shivers. Amazing work!
The first time I saw this I literally threw my fuckin phone across the room in a fit of rage because it’s done so beautifully and I love this stupid song so much that seeing their adventures back to back to it actually physically hurt me.

Also I will never believe you if you say the scene with the macaroons is purely digital. Like, this literally looks like real life footage, it's unbelievable how amazing this is
the people who make TAZ fan art continue to fucking amaze me. This is beautiful
that shot with the rockport limited is so FUCKING good
This is absolutely amazing!! None of it looks cheap or lazy you can SEE all the work you guys put into this wow!!
Havent even made it more than 5 seconds in and hearing the song "forgetting" for a video called "memories"??? I'm already tearing up my man
This is absolutely stunning I can't even find the words to commend it! I love all the details you included , if there was ever a Taz film or TV show I'd love it to look like this.

Thanks! I know that I would absolutely love to work on a TAZ TV show, would be a blast.
This gives me shivers everytime I watch it. Thank you. I appreciate that you chose a scene or object and really focused on that for each moment. It makes each scene feel really physical and part of a narrative but... not sentimental? This is "show don't tell" in a nutshell.
This gave me fucking chills
this is the opening credits to the TAZ movie my heart wants
me, over the last two minutes: - nonstop whispering _holy shit_ - shivers all down my spine when the prime material expanded into the full planar system - tearing up with the HUGEST grin on my face - already reaching for the replay button
I watched this immediately after finishing the finale, and it really yanked my heartstrings. Great job.
HOLY FRICKING SHARKS THIS GAVE ME CHILLS. WHAT THE HOW HOW DID YOU DO THIS??? WHAT RENDERING PROGRAM DO YOU USE THIS IS FAN-FRICKING-TASTIC

Yardena S , thanks! I'm glad you liked it. For most of my personal at home projects I use Blender to make it and cycles as the renderer. It was a really fun small project to work on.
god this is gorgeous. you did an amazing job rendering the locations in a way that left me breathless and joyful all over: that first slow zoom on the voidfish put goosebumps on my neck that then got goosebumps AGAIN as the wonderland sign faded in. and leaving everything looking abandoned, and empty of people was brilliant, because it suited the atmosphere made by the music so hauntingly WELL, but it also avoided "stepping on toes," and leaving what the characters *look like* completely unaddressed, which i think was fucking perfect for the podcast. i really wish i had nicer words to give you here

missile kid I'm glad you liked it! And yeah those characters are so personal to everyone but there isn't a lot of fan art of the world, which made it so much fun to just dump my imagination into the story and share with you guys.
Wow. The camera angles, the shading, the coin flipping with all the Relics in time with the music, just... damn, dude. Breathtaking.
It's amazing how things like this can bring me back to moments in my own life, i.e., where I was sitting, what I was doing as I got through each chapter. Hot diggity damn, this is just so good!
This is goddamn gorgeous??? Especially how detailed the modelling is holy crap!
Wow! This is really good!
I'm not joking, I actually, literally fell to my knees the first time I saw this. The moment the Voidfish song kicks in during all the cinematics views of all these places, it's just.. So good.
The opening shot gave me chills, it felt like I was walking into the Voidfish chamber as a new recruit
that looks..... so so good
this feels like the overly long, artistic opening credits to a netflix original series and i am so here for it !
oh man i forgot how incredible this video is, still gives me The Emotions 2 years later
I've watched this about fifty times now and I _always_ lose my breath when the billboard for Wonderland comes up. It's actually magical.

Thanks! I also like how that one turned out my wife did the great design for the poster and I just put it on a 3d billboard.
Perfect way to say goodbye to TAZ!!! Thank you so much xxxxxxx
I've had a playlist for The Adventure Zone related things for about a year now, and I think that this might be the highest quality thing in it. Like. holy shit. This is amazing.
This is _so good_ ; I come back to it sometimes just to get chills all over again. I like how empty the scenes are - it's equal parts contemplative and kind of eerie - and despite the lack of people, you *instantly* recognise the settings. I love how the most mundane of objects still hold that incredible, subtle significance - like the weight in that plate of macarons, even as it's juxtaposed against the double moons and very slick crystal lab.
This is??? Literally amazing??? Thank you so much for creating this!
to quote taako, "Fucking amazing!!!!!"
words can't describe how impressed i am with this video. it all looks so so so real, and the timing of the clips with the music is perfect, the tone you've created is exactly how it should be, if that makes any sense. great job!!!
This video gives me chills every time. Can't wait to see the fan trailer! Great work. As an animator and editor, I can tell its taken a lot of time and effort.
This is absolutely INCREDUBLE. My hand shot to my mouth at the shot of the void fish and my eyes only continued to grow bigger throughout this. This is everything, and then some. AWESOME job!!!
This is gorgeous! All of the details!! The cinnamon topography! How well-timed everything is to the music, especially noticeable w. the medallion with all the relics at the end! The colours! Aaaaaaaaa!! *Amazing* work. Thank you for sharing iit w/ us!
I am truly blessed to have seen this, man it gave me chills!
Damn dude, that's good. That's... just really fucking good.
This is so fucking stellar
Holy shit, my dude. This is amazing. You are so good at this!!!
THIS BROKE ME. That opening shot of the voidfish....
This is truly incredible. Highest quality fan animation for anything that I've ever seen.
wow dude. wow.
My dude! That shot of the Rockport Ltd gave me chills. I love this.
This is gorgeous, it perfectly captures the sense of adventure, mystery, and awe I experienced in the time I spent with these boys on their journey, If The Adventure Zone was to be a movie or show or what have you, your style and tone would fit it perfectly. Absolutely stunning work
