There was just a thing on TV the other day that was an hour long special about how some experts used to say opioids were this perfect pain relief drug with basically no side effects and it was virtually impossible to become addicted to them. One of my daughters was very shy, and so having dinner parties was tough on her. I didn't let her hide in her room entirely though - I expected her to come down and say hi to everyone, then she could retreat for the rest of the night. Years later she came to appreciate that she learned small talk from that process, which served her well as an adult. Being shy isn't a character flaw, it is what it is - but you shouldn't let it hold you back, either.

Well depending on what state Henry lived at the time sleeping with his 17 year old girlfriend is perfectly legal. In fact 16 is the most common age of consent in the US.

I did a psych exam this morning for 2 hours, and completely blanked out for the rest of the lesson, so I drew a drawing of kronk with his anger and devil, to represent Id Ego and SuperEgo.

I live in Canada and every year or two we drive 8000kms over 2 days down to SC for march break. we got there. next day were told that the border might close. day after we drove all the way back in one day. to make matters worse my gf who had been texting me non stop, who id spent the entire day with up until I left, decided to wait till I was 8000kms away to dump me by text. she then spent the next 1.5 weeks of the lockdown slowly turning my entire group of "friends" -who I introduced her to!!- against me and got pretty much all of them to ghost me. I then spent 3 months inside by myself. managed to salvage some old friendships from elementary school and got into building and selling pc's. I then had to spend 25+ hrs of the week leading up to my birthday driving between our new house and old house, slowly draining all the nostalgia and memories from my home and driving them 6 hours away from pretty much everyone and everything I grew up with. I've now spent over a year without any group irl social interaction, I can't find a job because I moved to the middle of nowhere. GPU's are stupidly expensive so I can't afford to build pc's, all my sports are closed, and I don't know anyone in a 200mile radius. I don't think depressing even begins to cover it

I do try to make as much time as possible to get into discord calls and stay in touch with people. but moving somewhere and then not even being PHYSICALLY ABLE to meet new people, while simultaneously being shut out by half of the people I've spoken to in the last year due to a shitty breakup is really fucked. my problems are definitely smaller than yours, the difference seems to be (no disrespect) that mine is due nearly entirely to circumstances and really fucked up timing, whereas working the nightshift for 10 years is a decision. once again I don't know you, I don't know the circumstances you might be in so if I've got something wrong please let me know

When I was in elementary school, our teacher actually forbade us from asking anyone for gum. The reasoning being that everyone's too nice to refuse to give gum to someone who asks. Back then, it just seemed practical because I didn't have to give gum to like 5 people every lunch break, but now that I'm older, it also comes to mind that it could've served as a general life lesson to not exploit people's niceness.

there was a movie in the 90s about a roomate dying and getting a 4.0. it was called Dead Man on Campus and the plot was about two slackers trying to find a 3rd roomate that was likely to die before the end of their semester because it was the only way for them to pass.
