Member's Mark 36" Wood Pellet Grill Smoker Review

I recently purchased the new Member's Mark 36" Pellet Smoker. After months on the fence between the RecTeq DeckBoss 590, and then the Camp Chef WoodWind Pro 24, I stumbled acorss the Member's Mark 36" Pellet Smoker. Oh boy am I glad I did. This is an honest review of the good, the bad, the ugly which there really isn't yet and I talk about why I bought this over the others. Besides saving money, I honestly think this is an EXCELLENT BUY! Stay tuned and subscribe for more videos coming of my overnight Brisket and Pulled Pork smokes.

    Appreciate the comment. So new videos being uploaded this weekend. I already cooked Brisket and today I did pork baby back ribs. I received so many compliments it's not even funny! No joke I've been doing this for a long while and I'm my biggest critic and can tell you today's ribs were AMAZING! And yes since this has the largest smoke box available it is a HUGE game changer the large chunks of wood that it smokes adds such wonderful smoke rings and taste!!

    Appreciate the kind comment. Hey I was right there with you. Then I thought about something. What IF we don't turn the smoker on and just smoldering chunks of wood in the smoke box to. Create all that warm smoke and a little heat below 90 degrees since it is indirect?? Hmmm maybe I should make a video on that what do you think?

    Hey I was right there with you. I started with RecTeq DeckBoss 590 then switched to the CampChef WoodWind Pro 24 and then stumbling upon this J am soooo happy I did not just because the cost savings but also because it has THE largest smoke box that works like a dream. I have several other grills including a Weber Charcoal and a 6 burner grill and had a Traeger Lil' Tex before I got rid of it and this replaced it. I bought it from Sam's club in case I needed to return it but not happening 😊

  • @1ReviewGuy

    @1ReviewGuy

    4 ай бұрын

    Hey thanks for watching. Agree good catch. It's what happens when you have to much going on and trying to make a video lol. Also, on the Wi-Fi I really wanted this just because I'm a techie guy but I realized after owning a Traeger for 12 years that didn't have it, that really it's just another marketing thing. If you think about it for most cooks especially overnight cooks, pellet smokers are more of a set it and almost forget it. People may argue to turn it up or to see how much of pellets are left and honestly I cooked a 16 hr overnight brisket, heated it up for about 15 min the next day on the smoker, then cooked ribs for 4.5 hrs the next day and I still have maybe 2-3 hrs of people left in there. Knowing how efficient this grill is and know that burning/smoldering chunks of wood not only adds much more smoke, but adds a little more heat to prevent more pellets from being used up, I just couldn't see myself ever needing Wi-Fi and justify the almost $1,000 more just for that and 1 or 2 minor features. If people think it's worth it they heck more power to them. But I don't need it at all. Hope that helps. I will cover this on the next video as well if that helps. So please ask away.

    How is the smoke profile on this smoker? I also noticed there is no direct exhaust, does this help or hinder the smoke-abilities of this unit?

  • @1ReviewGuy

    @1ReviewGuy

    Ай бұрын

    I was honestly worried about this too to be honest I thought because it doesn't have controlled vents on back and no smoke stack would it create too much smoke that ruins the food or prevent accurate temps and boy was I wrong. It has a perfect amount of smoke profile to the meats. Honestly not too much, not too little...just right.

    Would you predict that this should be pretty rust resistant? Couldn’t find many details online regarding the materials used in construction

  • @1ReviewGuy

    @1ReviewGuy

    4 ай бұрын

    I'm going to say absolutely. My Traeger was made of cheaper material and held in there for 12 years. As long as you cover it and take care of it, with the internal stainless over the metal it will take a lot longer than 10 years to rust through and you really have to be lazy to let it do that. Take care of it don't be afraid after years 2 or 3 if you see a little rust because it will happen on ANY grill. Just sand it down with some light grit sand paper and get high temp black grill spray that will keep it nice for years to come. I'll be having a chat by Friday with the company and will write that down as one of the questions and when I make my next video. The next few days I'll cover that for ya.

    I’m thinking this really has to be PID controlled with the presence of the RTD temperature probe and the incredibly tight temperature control you are seeing. Don’t see any other way for it to get there. Don’t see that it has the old style “P” control that adjusts the pellet drop based on User input for the auger delay. Just saying, I think the PID is the way to go and strongly suspect it has it.

  • @1ReviewGuy

    @1ReviewGuy

    I can tell you 2 things. The first being that I spoke with Shane directly at Even Embers who manufactures this grill and they confirmed with engineering that it does not have PID. They program the controller at the factory and I believe between an excellent controller algorithm and the excellent double insulation this smoker is just plain awesome.
