The temptation definitely set the bar as being one of best groups in the world.their legacy will live on forever.

My musical teacher and fellow bandmate, Mace Williams, grew up with Melvin Franklin and Richard Street in Detroit and described their relationship as close as brothers. They made up of one of the early singing groups Mr. Franklin was in.

I never knew he had any children. Praise The Most High 🙌 for David Ruffin's son for contacting him about his father's passing 😢

The Temptations has been my favorite group since I was a kid. I enjoy watching the movie and listening to the music.

I hate when I find out that these great entertainers were such terrible parents. I know people think making it is the most important thing. But nothing is worth the sacrifice of your family

It's so interesting how much information was provided about this iconic group, yet they couldn't do better research, when I it came time to providing a photo of the "right" Paul Williams, who happened to be an original member. And, if you noticed, although we saw many photos of Dennis Edwards, whose vocals helped the Tempts win their first Grammy, his name was never mentioned. If you're going to showcase our amazing entertainers, who have been the most dominant figures in music, "do better and get it right."

What happen I thought this was an interview with his son. ?

No one knows and or understands the many dynamics of ones family relations. As far as Melvin's voice also it stood out amongst the members of the Temptations! He was the bass baritone noticed in their Christmas song as well as in the harmonies of the Temptations many songs. Rick James is a relative of Melvin's I believe Rick is his nephew. True raw talents!

The photo of Paul Williams (19:12) is not Paul Williams of the Temptations.

Just to show you you can't believe everything you see on the internet they got the white singer writer Paul Williams flashed up on the screen as the great Paul Williams from The temptations. Apparently whoever put this together didn't do very much investigation into who The temptations were. It's a shame that some people will see this who have never seen The temptations only heard their music will think that that man is the Paul Williams from The temptations who also sang lead on a couple of songs who was one of the original members of The Temptations.

Idk who does the fact checking, but check which Paul Williams you have as being a part of the group's line-up @19:10. I'm almost 100% certain it wasn't that Paul Williams.

Melvin mother was alive before he died They let that child live as a orphan

Hearts go out to Melvin's. Careers in the entertainment industry can bring about abandonment feelings suffered by offspring. Barry Gordy, although honored for his unprecedented music accomplishments, allowed Diana to mistreat Florence and Otis to mistreat David and Paul. Clearly, the decline of their mental and physical health needed support. Marveletts remember Barry's mistreatment after hs affair with Diana who left him.

Melvin Jr didn't say anything.

I really dislike this cover story. Based on the titled, it was suppose to be about the relationship between Melvin and his son. I dont understand these Temptations men. It seemed they werre far more interested in their musical careers than juggling parental duties with it. They themselves had no good parsntal input

The group was never the same, when Otis fired the great lead singer of the Group David Ruffin, then letting Paul go the Motown company should keep Paul on or mention rehab treatment for alcohol. The Fad five made a lot of money for Barry. And Barry should have put David in check. Remember David worked for Barry's father. Motown fucked the greatest group up in Soul Music history.

The Temptations were a money maker for Motown. Berry SHOULD have stepped in and put David in check. David’s problems would have vanished without all the problems David caused. You see, David respected The Boss of Motown, but he disregarded Otis and Melvin.

With the exception of the Supremes, for personal reasons, obvious to Motown fans, Berry Gordy allowed each act to handle internal issues on their own. Otis Williams mentions this in his book, " Temptations". Remember, the Temps sought out David Ruffin on their own, after originally wanting his brother, Jimmy Ruffin. The group also chose his replacement, Dennis Edwards on their own. Despite the "Temptations" movie portrayal, Eddie Kendricks stated in an interview, seen here on KZread, that he only saw Berry, maybe twice during his whole time with the Temptations. In fact he was considering leaving the group himself, as early as 1965, because he felt "things weren't quite proper". Check it Out! Ciao!!!

No need for him to for to be bothered with all that. So the part where Eddie said he only saw Berry once or twice is probably true. He had other acts and future acts in Michael Jackson and Jackson 5 coming in.

@@terezwillis5022 I doubt this. The Funk Brothers were Motown’s in-house band for recording records. I don’t think Berry trifled with THEM at all. If he had? There goes the band for making records. Berry (who is presently 93 or older) is no fool!

One thing that wasn't mentioned was that the Temptations were the Primes before they were the Temptations.
