yep it is 100% Nanaya. It is only a teaser here in the cutscene but the actual boss fight will be Nanaya. He will use all of Nanaya skills with fully updated animation with Nanaya interactions and win pose.

THAT WAS GOOD!! I LOVE NOEL SO MUCH (totally still not crying from No..Ciel's route) +The pixel art and animation in this is GODLIKE (I feel like most people don't recognise how nuts some of the work French Bread put into the characters motions even just in fights is but aaaaaa we don't deserve the people who worked on that) Would be cool if they handled a storyline like TATARI with this much love.

However, it's a big lack of translation. (As a matter of convenience of translating, it can't be helped probably.) In original Japanese sentence and what he says by Japanese voices, 「『野』でも『夜』でもないレアキャラってことで。」 （" I mean I'm a rare character neither No[野] nor Yo[夜]. ") These "No" and "Yo" mean the Kanji Character in His Original Kanji Name. （Toh[no] Shiki ---- 遠『野』志貴、Nana[ya] Shiki ---- 七『夜』志貴） He suggested he is Neither Tohno Nor Nanaya. So, Who is he? It's unclear but you can imagine kind of. As a story line, Shiki[Tohno] waited Arcuied for a date, was crushed because it was 2nd date in back alley (about the Date in Back Alley, play Tsukihime Remake), and lost a part of his memories. In addition, 7:03 "I was just a bit shocked, and that put me into a childish mood." So probably Boy in School Uniform is Tohno Shiki in parallel world, who forgot some Tohno Shiki's merories and became literally childish such as when he is Nanaya. Of course, most(or all) of his voice is same Nanaya and Nasu is obviously conscious of, but so far, he is someone like that.

I think he's supposed to be pretty much inner Nanaya, aka the young Shiki you talk to in a dream. Not the psychotic break caricature Tohno makes in his broken mind and Tatari clones.

Noel is not a monster like Shiki, Arc, Akiha, Ciel, Vlov etc. She's just a normal person with abnormal trauma facing abnormal circumstances. We like to joke about "I can fix her", but she could be easily fixed if she lived a carefree teacher life with a supportive boyfriend (hopefully not a student, though).

Nooooo... dont do it Nasu.. dont tease me with Noel route which we will never get... *cries*

Tell me about it. Seeing Arcueid, Ciel and Akiha all together in unison with a common enemy gives me the shivers. Man I wish for Sion and anybody else who was in the previous Melty Blood to be here. Saber was here from the start and has never been a canon Tsukihime character in either era.

Nasu explicitly describes her as a normal person who can never become the "protagonist", and that she's ultimately just someone who's life was completely upended by seeing the Moonlit World. She's definitely flawed, but I don't think she's evil until extenuating circumstances push her to her breaking point.

but.. This is literally her EXACT personality in Tsukihime R. Which VN were you guys (not) reading?? lol (she only ever goes evil in the story after giving up cause of Ciel wrongfully pushing her over the edge and getting turned into a DA - where she starts to abuse those powers to kill innocent people. Fun fact: as a human she never killed an innocent human being. Besides the dead apostles the only humans who got no mercy from her were the ones sending/tricking people into traps as food to get killed by dead apostles. And she usually protects people when her life isn't in danger) I think people mistake her human bitterness, frustration and realistic range of expressions as she wears her heart on her sleeves as being "evil" when in actuality she's just neutral to gray morally though, objectively speaking, in terms of actions she lands squarely among the "good" guys protecting people from vampires. She's a regular human being victimised by the supernatural world by having her loved ones, life, freedom, choices, self-worth and ability to trust taken away by dead apostles and the Church.... which is what's particularly hard-hitting about the start of this scenario with her being finally freed from the prison of being an Executor. All she really wants and needs is a normal average human life and she can't have that. It doesn't help that she's not the strongest person or "cheating" by having extra lives like Ciel who was the gateway to her misfortune and, while also a victim, left their situation having been dealt a better hand by life which Noel understandably envies. In terms of all the other characters relationship with her, they're constantly cruel and demeaning to her upfront which isn't doing favours for someone hanging on by a thread. As a normal person, all you need to do to get her sweet side is be nice to her and even better just offer her a shoulder to cry on cause she doesn't have one (Ciel and Mario being stuck up to Noel as her "seniors" REALLY doesn't help). Nasu wrote this scenario with the intention of making the crack in her facade when Shiki claimed he'd look out for/protect her in the lair in Ciel's route (she "randomly" chocked and went meek like something in her broke for a moment when she heard that; also ties into her backstory but details) cause nobody had ever genuinely expressed such a thing to her...and that's what's happening here. For note, it's actually really obvious in the main story/VN but it's a case of the author respecting the readers'/players' intelligence and capacity to dissect context results in character + scene writing that proves too subtle for some (e.g. people who may be under the impression they're seeing a new side of her here though they're actually seeing the exact same side of her they've always been being shown) TLDR: It's just really frustrating seeing the damage a lack of non-memefilled critical discussion can do to the perception of such a beautifully complexly simple character. Some people (I highly suspect most of whom haven't actually read the VN as some others who've admitted is the case) took "trapped traumatized and suffocating regular person in a supernatural world" and flipped it into "psycho bitch for reasons x lol war crimes" I think the other most misconstrued aspect of her is some of the expressions of her self-awareness and intelligence (she's clearly not stupid even though her perspective's treated as worthless by the people...cough people like Ciel cough...around her and we even see that here). For example, she might be deemed as "useless" (that word has destroyed character assessment) or "pathetic" (even by herself; as seen in TsukiR and this scenario) when she's shown freaking out as a battle against someone or something is going on or about to happen. That's because she assesses situations and, unlike another survivor character - Shirou, values her ability to breathe so she doesn't stupidly put her life on the line when she knows the opponent is stronger or the situation is beyond her capability like when you see her freaking out at a distance instead of fighting against Vlov (her explanation of what's happening to Shiki clearly shows she has a full grasp on the situation and isn't jumping into danger wrecklessly for a reason - she knows she doesn't stand a chance against Vlov. She has a bubbly, excitable personality so it's easy to lose sight of why she's yeeping in fear and fidgeting with the cute expressions as "haha what a loser" but the alternative is funnily what people (especially anime onlies and even people in his own story) hate on Shirou for by calling him stupid for rushing into fights he clearly can't win. This also plays into her "really strong against the weak and really weak against the strong" characterisation summary cause she flips the feelings of helplessness and fear in those moments from facing the stronger forces in this world into rage, ferocity and relief against "forces"(/people & creatures) she finds weaker than her and that venting gets her deemed as a psycho for.... some reason? especially when it's just straight murderers and vampires getting the brunt of her wrath lol I can see the confusion in her being antagonistic cause she tries to kill Shiki who is the main protagonist...but...uhmmm...she's actually doing the right thing and making the smart choices and deductions there lol. Shiki is Roa's host in Ciel's route and Noel objectively correctly deduces that and tries to save the city from what happened to hers by killing Shiki - the host - yet Ciel, who has the same objective, attacks Noel with unreasonably excessive force but it gets viewed as a win for our protagonists through perspective bias (this situation leads her to finally get taken advantage of and turned into a DA) but Noel gets the bad guy tag from that even though Ciel's the dumb sump in the situation awaaaaaaa I can go on and on about her. There's just so much to dissect it's insane. I'm just baffled that the perception of the most "human" character in the cast is so off that there are people who think this is a different version of her... I guess she's just really personally relatable to people who or who have felt trapped and suffocated by other people or #systems in their life or feel misunderstood and unappreciated to certain capacities that those traits being deemed as "sinister" (yeah, she's scary at times true lol), "evil" or "irredeemable" rubs me the wrong way and now you have a book in your replies OHMYGODWHEREDIDALLTHISCOMEFROM????

It's an idealized version of Noel's wishes for a love interest, I'd imagine. I don't think it's Nanaya, because Nanaya is pretty much all of Tohno's repressed killer instinct and serial killer tendencies embodied. So he's really only interested in killing and death. So yeah. The latter, since this is Noel's fantasy, and it's pointed out that Shiki resembles someone Noel used to have a crush on aka. He's her type, at least appearance wise.

I believe the writing wanted us included to believe that is was a dream but it actually wasn’t one.
