I've been collecting slag for awhile now. I have a sh!tton of it. I needed to make space for other things, so I thought it would be a good Idea to melt it all down.
Disclaimer: I made a mistake. I was in a hurry and forgot to consider safety first. I experienced a steam explosion because I tried to rush a pour without hearing my molds. It freaked me out a little bit. luckily, I didn't get hurt in the incident. Learn from my mistake. Always heat your molds.
Other than that, it was a surprisingly good day. The rain didn't help. I had to stop twice for at least an hour for the rain to stop. This melt took me all day. But I recovered a good amount of aluminum for something I considered throwing away.
