Missed another SNAFU this morning, John. Just as Old Guard were going out to parade, New Guard arrived with orders to go straight in to stables. Both troops then proceeded to traipse past one another in the tunnel, and ended up on opposite ends of Horse Guards. Hopefully we'll see things done properly once again by next week. Take care till then.

Amen to that
Hi John. The lady with the Gatesman was Japanese & the bowing was a respectful apology to the guard. She was showing humility and loss of face. She was clearly embarrassed. The Guard controlling the uneasy horse with his left hand for nearly an hour was amazing. Credit where credit is due to him. Tourists are amazingly dumb!

I agree with you 100% every word you said . I don't know why people who visit DO NOT read the Signs and DO not back up when they see the horse is not having a good day .
The guard has been amazing handling the skittish horse. Amazing
That trooper has shown excellent horsemanship!
I can believe that the horse guard had an extremely sore shoulder at the end of the day. Bravo to him for controlling the horse so well. Another fantastic video, thank you ♥️🇨🇦

Wonder if they have one arm more muscular than the other like tennis players do. Horse ended his attitude during dismount 😂. Excellent patience and skill from this trooper.
that 'boy' can handle a horse!! When the horse kicks behind in anger and frustration that he is not getting his own way, the guard looks round and grins.
The trooper on the horse with the issue in the yard looking around for assistance, his 'mate' leaves his post to assist him, 'Band of Brothers' springs to mind, such a friendship bond.
Brilliant Horsemanship by the Guard, Although the Powers that be should have taken him back to the stables, he never settled down bless him. If it Had been the Blues and Royals Their Corporal of Horse would have taken him back to the stables without question . I’m not Biased but He’s Brilliant with his Guards and Horses😊
The lady is apologizing with a bow, as one does where she is from.
Why would a daycare bring tiny toddlers to the Horse Guard ? They obviously don’t understand what’s going on, and there’s danger from the horses. 😮😮😮
The ghost of the box must have been very active today. Kudos to the trooper for managing a very difficult situation.
This is such a beautiful horse
Shouldn't the police be more proactive in insisting the public stay back when a horse is obviously unsettled! ! There is no guarantee it wont take flight into the crowd, you cant trust the public to be sensible, they need to be told!!! Thanks for your superb coverage John you manage to be in the right place at the right time ! Btw well done for correcting the little muppet who hit the young girl in your other video, appalling behaviour! I hope he got a stern telling off from the Police and his Teacher!! Im astonished no one attended the guard when he pressed the button for the second time! What an incredible job the horseman did, they must both be exhausted ! Thank you John for your commentary and your footage, great job 👍✅

The MOD police were out there telling people to MOVE , if people don't listen or understand how dangerous a very restless horse can be it's not their fault . Though if seeing a very large horse having a meltdown doesn't register with their brains I don't know what will ! 🤔🤔🤔

Because if the horse wins this 'argument', he will remember this, and do exactly the same thing the next time and forever there after, horses are not stupid, this will eventually render him useless to H Cav as part of their contingent. i qualify what i say, as i had my first pony at the age of 8 years old and rode until i was 50 years old.

@@vinpepp Well said vinpepp, all the way through I thought the horse needs to know who`s boss. I wonder if perhaps it was the horse's first time at this post, as there is a first time for everything and the horseman was superb and showed great strength. I had an 18/1/2 hand Irish hunter in my day and boy was it ever a battle of wills at times. Now at the age of 70 and disabled I just have my memories and Johnathon's great videos. Best wishes to you.

@@vinpepp no - horses like Q10 also have the occasional 'meltdown', and such a severe one as this could have caused serious injuries to the public - agree with another comment that Blues and Royals would have done the right thing and brought the horse back

Like a 3 year old having a temper tantrum If you always give in to him, then you have tourons.
I presume the reason they don't always replace irritable horses is precisely to prevent the horses getting too smart about knowing they can get off the duty if they act up enough! Incredible horsemanship as no matter how competent you are, you're a long way off the ground if the horse decides to fully rear - & I did see one on someone else's video that did exactly that 2 secs after the rider had dismounted - fell over completely backwards!! Thankfully uninjured & up in secs too but if the Guard had still been on it could have been horrendous.

I never tire watching changing of guards and horses. Hate to see that one horse not settling down. Hope he is ok. TY John, for gr8 video.
The horse acts like something is wrong with his harness and bit,, SOMETHING is making him uncomfortable⁉️
Poor horse , Poor trooper trying to keep him under control. What a drama not fair to the horse to drag it out so long

Quite - no apparent checks to see if it was in distress for a particular reason
So impressed how the guard handles the horse, we have to be reminded of that all horses are not old, and you know kids. One second they are next to you and the other upp in a tree😊
Horse in distress, not funny.sad to see.
Animals are just like people, they have bad days too. I used to have a service dog who's sadly passed, but even with proper training, some days he'd wake up and not want to do his job just like how I didn't want to do mine. It takes so much patience and skill to manage a working animal's meltdowns with a calm hand and not let it get out of hand. I hope this guard knows how much he's appreciated despite the gawking, brainless tourists that just focused on being upset they didn't get a photo. If I ever get the chance to visit England, I want to thank these men for their endless patience for what tourist put them through, not get a photo of them and their horses as if they're just statues. Much like service dogs, these horses and their riders are on duty, so it's just mind-boggling how people treat them without proper respect. I do hope that they get compliments or thanks from bystanders or tourists from time to time.
It is so good that the trooper are so well trained to deal with a difficult horse for an hour that simply does not want to be in the box to work, it is a credit to the trooper in the skill's that they have been trained to do, & your right if a horse does not want to do what it is ask, you can not make it ❤
Filmed 16.10.2023. John😎 will always post the filming date unlike many that don't.

I love all of your videos but this one was extra special! Thank you!!!
Do any bystanders who recognize what might happen with an antsy horse, ever tell the laughing tourists to get out of the way? Or do they stand and watch the tourists get trampled unless the police catch it? I’ve seen John warn someone or talk out loud in hearing range, lol. But I mean, if I were there seeing that, I’d want to jump in and say “What are you doing, get out of the way!” Aaaack.
We have a saying here in the south of U.S. “You can’t fix stupid” I think that sums up those people who stand there when the horses start losing it.
Thank you for your great commentary. I enjoy your channel Props to the guard. He handled that horse magnificently
What great horsemanship from that trooper, that horse did not like the box!
This young trooper is very good with horses
Cripes...after the Guard pressed the button a second time he's had to wait a hell of a time for anyone to come!
Dear John. Another 'Nah weather's no good for filming day'.I just love the way you match up the Regiments with whom are currently on duty at the time. I'll watch this later, and I'll look forward to watching your video tomorrow. Enjoy your day off. The weather here in Crewe is chilly too. Thank you John.
This particular horse. does not mind the work and he does a brilliant job of defending himself against Rude tourist when concrete not being busted up. I've mentioned this before. The horse is simply reacting to the ultrasounds from the Jack hammers in the back ground making him crazy. Vibrating his lower jaw, all the way up to its inner ear. The horse on the opposite end is doing his best.He can he's Lowwering his head dealing with it. And has a sleepy look to him. He's biting at people that want to touch him. Proud of both of them. In the box or in the yard, they both have stonewalls.Amplifying the sound like like talk board screeching it's driving them crazy.
What is the matter with these people?
My late father's cousins son was in the Welsh Guards & he went up to the top ranks. But I do not think that he done horse Guards All I know is that he was so devoted to his job that he did not get married. That is how much he loved his job & that is another reason why I admire our soldiers, Sailors & Air Crew because they go through so much in their duties. Well done to each and everyone of them.
John, I saw you on another videographers video from 8 months ago!! Finally I can put a face to your voice. You were kidding about being 77 yo., more like 50. Very handsome . Now let’s get to another great day. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Can't help feeling a little on the horses side here . . . Great horsemanship by the Guard. Interesting to watch John thank you: Kiwi

The guard was absolutely incredible. I’m sure he is exhausted and his arm hurts!
Looks like the ghosty was back in that box tickling the horse again John! 👻 I wonder what it is in that box which upsets them so
Cripes again! By the time the Guard and horse get help the shift will be over!
Props to the guard for his professionalism, competency and keeping his composure throughout his time on what was undoubtedly a trying shift. ❤
So kwl, horse vocalizing to people not today...not interested in being stared at, pawed and posing whilst at work... feel for them... humans and animals we all have moments when no matter what, we just gotta have that time out... Blessings to all
I think there should be more rules in place regarding the public, I feel for for the horses and guards at times.
Hi John, it's a moron Monday
Respect always to horses and guards... gotta wonder if something strange in that box coz lotsa times it's there that horses super restless... empathy for human and animal... or uea, it's just no no no, not today, not into crowds... thanks for videos and love and respect always to all cavalry
"Cabbage Patch Kid". Oh, John, I'm dying ❣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think that magnificent horse in the box though regal looking has a great sence of humor
Wonderful. I've become addicted to these videos. Can't believe how daft people are. They're so rude and clueless on how to behave in the company of these massive beautiful horses.
Often seems a long wait before someone answers the call button.
When they bow, it is showing respect.
John some people are brain dead when it comes to these 🐎 horses
No one in the guardroom to answer the call? Must be busy with the horses.
Superb view.so very proud. Them and me.!!!.
There is something that is said up in the North of England about the attitude of these tourists. which is, You cannot mend "Thick".why do they risk putting their children in danger?
Incredible horsemanship from that trooper
After all this time it now boarders on animal abuse! It’s obvious that this horse is in distress, not being stubborn‼️‼️
I believe the Japanese lady was trying to catch the guards eye so she could bow directly to him in apology.
John, Who Own That Bicycle With Green Attached To it, Surely it’s a Security Issue, Do its Owner Need a Permit To Attach it to Railings 🤷♀️
I don’t entirely blame the tourists. Some are dumb or curious but the police should be more aware and control the people.

You can be a tourist in your own country if you have a holiday your a tourist on holiday you rent a room you pack your clothes you travel to another place and visit all the tourist attractions and you can even fly to another place while still being in the country
The horse’s chain on his bridle is undone again. Something really has spooked this horse. It could be a sound in the air that we might hear.
The rescurer, , from the arches, was very angry, you could see it.
Tell her there is another horse on other side.
i love your commentary, its so chatty, genuine and knowledgeable, everyone elses is silent and you dont know who's who or whats really happening. i didnt know who the soldiers in the blue were till you explained. Also you have a very nice voice
I've noticed that most off the videos show tourists with coats on. I also noticed that a lot of the days the ground is wet like it just rained. London seems to be a nice place to be except for the weather.
A good idea would be to close these walks down for the Houseshold Cavalry. Tourists have no manners they act like wild scavangers. The way they behave is disgusting and there should be a limit on the tourists allowed through those gates. .
Seus videos são otimos. Amo estes cavalos ❤❤❤❤
October 2023, nice to see some old friends of Troopers horse and riders and the no nonsense C of H. Enjoy your day off its been a busy few days lots of action in the yard John see you tomorrow. 😊
I remember seeing this as a small child in the late 50s/early 60s while visiting my English grandmother in London, when tourists were an unknown breed.
The horse need space..... tourists can't see that ....my god stupidity !!!!
Trooper in camo is taller than trooper in his nos 2 uniform. Hence the sign looking a bit more straighter. 😂 Horse 16:42 has the Monday Morning Fidgets. Poor Trooper Horsie. Wonder weather the drilling is upset the horse?
Considering it to be a busy day with the changeover, and the chain connecting to the secondary rein left undone, that horse may have been triggered coming out of the stables. That guard did an amazing job keeping him out, so that the horse knew he wouldn't get away with not settling down. I assume the lady from a different culture, may have wanted to save face, apologizing to the guard. Some people freeze in spot, if they aren't familiar with what is going on, or the danger. What fabulous teamwork. You could hear the determined stomping of the Gatesman's feet, as he walked the horse and guard, into the box.
It's that dame box again!!! What the hell IS it????
Can understand why the horse's behave like this really feel for the guard and the horse's having to put up with the tourist that show no respect and always getting in thier personal space, they can see the horse is in distress but still want thier picture taken like you said john you carnt fix stupid!!
Bowing is a Japanese signofrespect
No trooper came out even tho button was pressed a few times by himself and police and now the horse has had enough and so as his belly too 🧐 so another fellow guard came along to help his fellow guard out bless him 😊
Incredible control by the first Lifeguard boxman,! Very strong horse that. Wonderful light, so clear. Thanks John.
You are an excellent KZreadr London Channel because you even tell the public yourself to stand clear and chat to them if need be.
Some days you just think Im NOT going to work lol sod it
afternoon john its cold here too oh dear yet another horse quitting tourists are don't have much common sense but if a horse decides to quit you move double quick not stand there
Wonderful weather today
So professional 😊 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧💙💜🩵🐎🐎🐎

WHY are they determined to keep trying to get the poor horse into the box!!!???

there is a lovely video from way back of Overlord snatching himself a snack from one of those bushes as they left the yard!
What's lacking here is Common Sense among the tourists. Not to mention brain matter!
Hello John! I just LOVE your style, my friend. Your natural curiosity feeds my own! When I think of things I wish you’d done, I never have to ask because you ALWAYS ask on your own!! If I were ever to make it to London, I would hire you for a couple outings, to YOUR favorite places as I’m sure they’ll be mine too! Well done, sir - yet again! Many compliments to the guard on that slightly-cracked up horse. He is most certainly a step above for simply keeping the horses’ all four feet on the ground! He is a born horseman that one and I admire his skills very much. ❤️🐈
Some horses hate being without other horses, for the feeling of safety in numbers. Training in working independently along with a bond to the rider/owner makes for a much safer mount. Also some horses e.g. draught breeds mostly have quieter minds.

Exactly:herd instinct. Predators love horsemeat, and when a herd has mare's that have recently given birth, or there are foals prancing about, the boss mare will often/usually lead the herd away to allow the stallion to deal with the threat by kicking and/or biting/crushing the predator. Which is why horses are more alert [nervous] than one might expect. They're very alert to danger, such as large crowds of humans that might cause injury. Horses are very scent sensitive too. In Mexico you breath into a horse's nostrils if you will see it again soon, and it will remember you. Maybe the box has residual smells of anxiety from previous occupants that make the incomer unsettled?
