Thank you! So helpful!❤
Probably this is the most informational video I have ever watched on the subject of Pastels. The artist delivers many crucial advices while showing us her technique. Big like!!
Love the thorough instruction in this tutorial. So helpful!
Very Helpful…. Thanks
Thank you for a very clear and informative lesson on pastels, a real pleasure to watch and learn from. All the best from a New Zealand viewer. Love the end result.
I loved this video! Thank you for sharing, you’re a great artist and teacher!
Your painting is lovely and you explained your steps so well! Thank you so much.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Excellent teacher! Wonderful art and instruction from this generous artist.
I have been a pastelist for forty years using canson paper & velour for forty years. I am anxious to use sanded paper that you used in your video. I seen other artist use pipe insulation to spread the pastel around the sanded paper today I see that you use rubbing alcohol. That sounds like a much better idea ! Enjoyed you're video tremendously, I watched it three times! You're an excellent teacher and you did a great job w/ the seascape. I'm anxious to see more of what you have painted in the past! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
WOW. I am impressed.
A wonderfully informative video thank you! So well presented too.
Excellent teacher thank you!
Great instruction. Your approach makes a lot of sense although a little too restricted for me. The under-painting technique is wonderful. My biggest problem seems to be filling in the tooth of the paper too soon. Under-painting should help. I love your tips along the way. Very helpful indeed. For me, waves are the hardest subject matter. You have made it look easy. Thanks so much for the lesson.
Thank you for doing this video; it was very helpful. I was wondering if you've ever tried using the pearlescent pastels on your ocean paintings? I've not had very good success with them and I'd love to see somebody utilize them in a demo painting some time.
i am from melrose
most enjoyable- learned a lot.
This video is the gold standard for art instruction...with a few possible improvements. If it is not possible to show the reference photo at all times, perhaps you could offer a good, large, clear view of it at the beginning which we could take a screen shot of.And a non-glossy finish on the photo would be preferable. Also, do you begin with a limited pre-selected number of colors?
Thanks for watching everyone: FYI I now have an hour-long instructional DVD available for purchase ($35 including shipping) on the Anatomy of a Wave. www.jeannerosiersmith.com
Wonderfull tutorial thank you

What brand and name are the different white pastels please. I would like to get a range of whites with tints like the ones used for the seafoam. Thanks

Admirable mujer mas aun por su belleza, pero mas admirable serías como AMA DE CASA

Hi, I´m from Brazil. my name is Marcelo. I would like to know if it is possible to use pastel in pictures where oil paint is used. Thank you .

Marcelo, generally they do not mix, though you can use an oil WASH underpainting and when dry use dry pastel on top of that. There is oil pastels that can be more fully incorporated with oil paints.
I was more upset that when she was talking about something, it would cut back to her doing something, and me missing half the information. Otherwise, good video.
