vander Leyen is a Director of the WEF, it's who she works for. Christine Legarde the head of the ECB is also a Director. The WEF doesn't call them Directors, but Trustees. It's the same thing.

You are 100% correct. Let's be honest, all four executive posts, if the EU is a true democracy, should be by direct public mandate like the EU parliaments, from a list of candidates. It would be transparent and command more respect than all this behind closed doors. A lot of lobbying by multinationals must be going on too. I don't think she would do it but if she thinks Italy is being sidelined, which it probably is, is for Italexit.

Abandon this joke, abandon ship ...the EU is too powerful, not equitable.

I never understood this 'ignores voters wishes' argument. Von Der Leyen can only be reappointed if she has a majority. That means the majority of MPs, who are democratically elected, can support her. How does that ignore the wishes of the voters? Yes, during the last election the right wing did gain seats. But that doesn't change the fact that the center right and left together still have a majority. Only if the voters had made the right wing parties big enough that the current coalition doesn't work anymore would the wishes of the voters been clear in this case. And they didn't.
