In this video, we'll apply everything we've learned in this series to figure out how to plan and structure longer pieces of music.
🎬 Harmony for Composers: Functional Harmony and Voice Leading | • Harmony for Composers:...
Larger forms and structures for music have been around for centuries. They're used to give music context and meaning. Recently film composers have had to adapt to new styles of writing to support a story while still providing structure and form to their music. In this video, we'll learn one such approach to telling a story with your own music.

This whole series was so well put together. I have learned many of these concepts, but only now the big picture has come into focus. Thanks! :)

Thank you, GG! That's awesome that you bought a saxophone! It's a beautiful instrument that not enough people write for. Hopefully you can come up with a few great pieces to compose in the future :)

in popular songs a paragraph is equivalent to a section of chorus, verse, bridge? Or is it to the phrase?

I have an unresolved question. I took step back from scale and harmony then started with intervals. But now i can't understand resolutions only using intervals can you help me out?

Great question! If I'm understanding you correctly, you are asking how you can include a "cadence" in your melody without the context of harmony? If so then there are a few different strategies, I'll list the most common ones below: 1. End the melody by moving down in pitch rather than up. 2. End the melody in an octave/register that has been used frequently throughout the piece (instead of moving into a new one) 3. As the melody begins to wrap up, gradually focus on more conjunct movement (movement by step/smaller intervals) than were used earlier in the piece. These are just a few suggestions, but the more of them you use, the more final the ending of your melody will sound. Does this answer your question?

@@KaushalSingh-oi5gd Another great tip is think of the perfect 5th interval. C going up to G is a perfect 5th so when you go from G down to C, its going to sound resolved just like when you use the V-I cadence to resolve in harmony, it works very similar to melody as well. G going up to C can work but to my ears, it's not as strong because G going up to C forms a perfect 4th which can sound dissonant. But obviously, Harmony can help make it sound more resolved but if you're talking just melody alone G going down to C is usually the strongest resolution. So basically going down from the perfect 5th interval i.e, G down to C is always going to sound resolved and most melodies use this technique to resolve their melodies.
