As mentioned in the video, an example of a track with some parts sounding like they were recorded on a different noise floor then the rest of the song. -liberty by anette askvik (around 1:12) and there are a few other passages in the song that you can easily tell the start and end of clips in the editing.

Hi @Hifi Cave, have a question for ypu: why did you not consider the audio note 211 tubes w molybendum and instead the linlais? Was there any particular reason or prior comparison that you did? And wondering if you know how they compare. Thanks!

Those Linlai Elites are Moly-plates and those are nearly always preferable to graphite plate tubes...especially for large RF Triodes. BUT, only if the moly plates can tolerate full bias. Thankfully, The Linlai Elites are fully rated as a true drop-in, at full current. I use Line Magnetic LM503pa 845 SET monoblocks (with Japanese-made Tamura OPT's) and recently upgraded to Linalai Elite E-845's and.... WHOA!!! Same as you; very very obvious and pleasing upgrade. Using 8ohm, 89dB speakers and I can damage my hearing at will, if I wanted to. More than enough from my 22 watts. Linlai Elites greatly increased my emotional involvement in my system, which was already high. No going back!!! Great video!!!! ❤🤌👍😎

I'm probably NOT the audio enthusiast that usually tunes in........... I started fixing tube amps for guitar players.......... then I built myself an EL34 amp for stereo. Later I built a 300b/6sn7 amp, and I REALLY like it. My 300b's are LinLai (entry level) and I have nothing to complain about. Since LinLai isn't super well known, I went searching for other thoughts on them and ended up here. I find that the 300b amp brings out details that I didn't previously hear.

Hello It would be nice to compare Linlai 211 vs 4242 E Audionote or 300B if you like

Your description of the stock tubes makes me think they're Psvane Classic Series (greatest quality/price ratio 211 I've tried, prefer them to e.g. Shuguang). There are currently three current production molybdenum plate 211 tubes, by the way, the Linlai Elite, the AN-4242E and the Elrog ER-242C. By the way, most recording that use a drum kit tend to separate the singer in a vocal booth, and/or relegate the drummer to his/her own separate booth, as there's too much bleeding into the neighboring microphones, so naturally, there's an accumulation of noise from all the mics and mic preamps.

That's an excellent point you're making there: when a system already has great synergy, the big DHT triode are going to shine. In my experience, 211 are still a bit more forgiving in this respect than e.g. GM70 - the latter don't just offer twice the power, they also improve on all you're pointing out about big bottle tubes. 211 or 300B are less revealing about everything the system is doing with/to the playback, but on the flip side, they're less revealing about what's on the record being played back. There are drawbacks to anything, in this case, power consumption and heat…

Can you draw some comparisons between the 211s vs the TS150s? Stock or with the upgraded version.

I can, but take them lightly, because, the whole set of components matters here and the circuits used for both tubes can be very different, its not a straight forward comparison, as you can't just swap the two tubes in the same device. but if I had to quantify the differences I heard with both: KT150s are more punchy and can feel more intense, but sometimes at the expense of smoothness and decay, and a bit less air, compared to the 211, where you have more air, more decay(not due to the tube I think, but more due to the nature of the circuit around this type of tube) much smoother top end and more textured mids at the cost of losing a bit of punch and slam. The tone and timbre tho is different, and that is a matter of taste, I prefer the tone on 211 tubes.

I am about the start my tube journey , the 2a3 and 45 seems to be the most popular with single drivers. Do you have plans to get them. Elekit 8900 (lundhal upgrade) may be the cheapest and best in the market , though with no video reviews.
