Great video. Place is absolutely beautiful. With the exception of the rooms.. they’re OLD and really outdated. Stayed at Motels with nicer rooms. Water didn’t always work especially HOT water. We stayed LEVEL beachside. Rooms are exactly the same as the non-level rooms. Rest of my extended family booked non-level. So got to see what both had to offer. Booking Level definitely has some benefits. Wish they could keep the extremely pushy beach hustlers away, they are relentless. Definitely will be going back place is like you said absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! And the staff is AMAZING!

I agree with you about the rooms - some have been recently upgraded and are nice, but others are somewhat dated and in need of an overhaul. We used to stay in the big two room suites and they were amazing - but very far from the beach.
I just got back from the Melia and this video is exactly what to expect when you go go there. It is breathtaking...the staff is so kind. The rooms are a bit outdated, but clean. We did not have any bug issues. We had no issues with hot water, but met others at the resort that said they did have no hot water. The food was not the best. The Vietnamese restaurant was good though. The beach and pool are was incredible.

The resort is beautiful, the staff is amazing - but what also really shines is its location on Bavaro beach - walking distance to nearby villages, flea market and deserted beaches
Like to go back. So far the beach was the one of the best around. We stayed at adult area upper level. Draw back was exactly what you experienced sweated profusely walking to lobby for all the food and entertainment. They had no form of entertainment down near main pool or beach. Such a sad waist of beautiful space we love a great buffet but only up at lobby again spent more time traveling than vacation. Cart service was almost never and our butler always busy so we just got tired of walking all the time. 20 to 30 min walk to lobby from beach Rooms were decent but remember this resort is the oldest resort in Dominica. Very earthy and natural. There is a buffet at upper level and some great stuff but not the best food at that end. Got to travel once again for the better food. If it wasn’t for the travel I would recommend this resort every time

Thank you 🙏🏻 for sharing. They now have greatly improved electric buses than run more frequently to the lobby. Yes, more animation and entertainment would be nice. And while it does go back 25 years, I believe Club Med Punta Cana pre-dates the Melia
I'm happily surprised that it wasn't crowded. Which I would like. And also like that's it's not a party zone.

Yes, the resort strikes a delicate yet pleasing balance - you never feel like it’s crowded due to the geography of the property. This is especially true of their beachfront - it is very spacious
Tim (North Bay, Ont) Thanks for your vlog. We arrived in Punta Cana 4 days ago. Having fun checking out places that you have previously described, i.e. - flamingo bar, onno's, zoho, etc. We decided to skip the all-inclusives, but stay rent a condo for 2 months. You mentioned that you've been here for 7 weeks, do you find that more cost effective than renting a condo ffor that length of time. Keep up the good work, Ottawa.

When you add up the cost of airfare, food, drink, electricity and rent of a modern condo on the beach, some resorts can be competitive - but not all. For us, a resort stay is more expensive than a condo stay, but we enjoy the convenience of not having to shop and cook our meals.

Hi Andre, very good video, thanks for the tour! We are planning on booking in late august, but the Level is a little over our budget. Would you still recommand the resort if we are not Level? I would prefer spending that money on an excursion! Do you know if there are some snacks available at the main lobby after the restaurants are closed at night for the non-levels? The resort looks so beautiful and laid back, i'm really looking forward spending a week there :) Thanks again!

When I was in my 30’s and 40’s I was a non-level guest and enjoyed every stay at the Melia. Now that I’m in my 50’s I prefer staying at the Level for access to the Quimera facility. There is always a late night restaurant open somewhere on the resort - not sure where it was the last time I visited - I guess I’m going to bed earlier in my senior years :) Hope you have a wonderful stay - it truly is a magical resort.

@@PuntaCanaTravelVideos great thanks for that. was there much rain?
@PuntaCanaTravelVideos

@@csj_80 the standout feature this year was the wind - January and February were quite windy, more than usual. Rain in Punta Cana is very localized and sporadic. You’re walking on the beach on a beautiful sunny day then bam, torrential downpour for 10 minutes, then back to sunny. So if you see rain in the forecast, don’t sweat it, it’s usually brief.

Bearing in mind that we are in Canada where vacation packages usually combine both airfare and accommodations, most brochures only offer prices for 1-2 weeks stays. For longer stays, the best practice is to find the best deal on a two week stay, then get on the phone with a representative of the company offering the best rate to directly negotiate a price for your long term stay.

Hi thanks for your video. Do you know if there is a seaweed problem in end of may? Planning to book Melia The Level but worried about seaweed on the beach
@PuntaCanaTravelVideos
Жыл бұрын
I spent two months at the resort and can share the following: The offending seaweed that accumulates in significant levels is sargasm. The amounts vary dramatically from day to day, and fields of sargasm hit the beach in a very localized fashion. Your resort might have none at all, yet the resort next door might have lots - it really is hit and miss. It’s not like a large field of it hits all of Punta Cana at once. It is quite dispersed. Hope this is helpful.
You mentioned that the restaurants were opening up later in the evening in the video. Are there good lunch/afternoon dining options?

Absolutely - Quimera (Level Restaurant) offers a fine dining option for all meals, there is a very large beach restaurant (buffet) with an amazing burger bar, as well as a food truck by the pool which is a extremely popular
Hi! I am going here in December with my parents and brother. What do you have access to at the neighboring resort (Melia Caribe)? I believe you said casino in a previous reply-do you also have access to the theater for the nightly shows? I believe that we are going with the Level package - is this worth it for the extra $? You can walk the grounds on both resorts and visit in the evening to catch a live show or go to the casino. But family side restaurants are unfortunately off-limits. When facing the ocean, definitely walk to your right for 30 minutes to reach the deserted portion of Bavaro Beach - beautiful out there!
Hello we are seniors from Canada and looking to book here for Nov/23 in the premium room beach side not the level since it is so much more. Do you feel that we will be happy with the premium room beach side? How far do we walk for restaurants if we have accomodations in a beach side room? Also i see alot of standing ponds, does that not create lots of mosquitos? We love the look of this resort and am trying to make our final decision, but this is right up there as a contender. Help please.

The walk from the beachside room to lunch and breakfast is very short - just a few minutes. In terms of dinner, it’s a beautiful fifteen minute walk to the main lobby restaurant facilities, but these is a shuttle service and several carts to help with transportation needs, therefore that should not be an issue. Mosquito control is the best it’s been in years - didn’t encounter any during a two month stay in 2023.

Compared to Barceló Bávaro Beach?
@PuntaCanaTravelVideos

I can only comment on the beachfront as I’ve never been a guess at the Barcelo. Melia has a much nicer beachfront due to a number of factors. The first is palapas and Bali beds - tons of them at the Melia, very few at Barcelo - you pretty much have to rely on palm trees for shade. Melia also has a much deeper and less crowded beachfront at peak season. Having said that, Barcelo does have a nice swimming area with calmer waters.
Is Melia Caribe separate from Melia Punta Cana

The standard deluxe room is very nice and has very effective air conditioning - combined with the very comfortable beds, you will sleep well at night and stay cool all day long. Wifi is free and available throughout the resort, but a little weak at the beach. It can also struggle a bit when the resort is at full capacity but always very strong at the front lobby and Quimera.

@@PuntaCanaTravelVideos Thank you. In the room wifi free is good? What do you think in 26 August 9 nights usually ia ok in this period? Beach, water sargassum? How many buffet restaurant are? And Melia punta cana ia adult only, entire place and caribe family?
@PuntaCanaTravelVideos
11 ай бұрын
In terms of WIFI bandwidth, expect speeds between 1 to 1.5Mbps - with several hundreds of devices on site, bandwidth partitioning is surely in place, as it would be in any popular resort. The Melia Caribe is a separate resort that caters to families - consider it off limits in terms of facilities and restaurants. There are two buffet restaurants (one at the lobby, one at the beach) and both are very good. The à la carte restaurants are very good! As far as the beach goes, Mother Nature doesn’t follow a schedule - seaweed and sargasm comes and goes and levels change day to day - best to time your walks during low tide for maximum enjoyment. Having said that, the large resorts generally do a very good job of keeping their beachfronts clean of seaweed. But more importantly, keep in mind that the Melia resorts in Punta Cana offer some of the deepest and most well appointed beachfronts in Punta Cana with lots of palm trees 🌴 and palapas - and several Bali beds

In terms of streaming, I always recommend downloading content onto your device at home before travelling. Netflix allows you to do this, as do other services. In terms of streaming, it depends on the time. We have streamed Netflix without issue in the evening, but I’m sure it would struggle during the day. Another option is to download your content while at the main lobby before heading back to your room. In terms of walking and discovering local sights, make sure to watch other videos in my channel as I demonstrate how to find lots of local hidden gems. The Level is amazing, but regardless of whether you book it or not - you will have an amazing vacation.
