I think one of the more interesting things is the way characters react to Guybrush during the two games! In The Secret of Monkey Island, no one is particularly happy to see Guybrush, but in Return to Monkey Island he is often met with a warm welcome, new pirate leaders not withstanding.

In the secret some changes on the personality of certain characters are very wired, specially Le Chuck. And nobody cares about him any more. Several aspects of the story/script of the secret are disappointing

@@hernan.cortes in a sense, LeChuck was beaten so often by the same guy he's always calling a loser, I wonder if Ron didn't unintentionally make him like a Trump sitting around at Mar-a-Lago, persuaded he's still the scariest pirate ever when he's just a pathetic loser surrounded by yay-sayers 😋

@@hernan.cortes Technically Trump was only beaten once, too, but we all feel like he was beaten so many times because he never got the popular vote. ;-) (Also, both midterms!)

I finally realize what I don't like about the new design. It's their eyes. I don't even mind Guybrush's pinky noise tip. Both are styles have their charm though

Its gotta be the nose for me! Although Guybrush’s eyes in return always make him look quite sad, which is also quite sad :(

The art is charming yes, but the comparison to me is in favor of the old backgrounds at least. I'm not sure why most of Return happens at night. It's not like they needed it for the special effects... That was an issue I had. And even then, regarding character designs, guybrush & all are cool, they just don't compare favorably to most of the old games. But we'll get used to it eventually, maybe even grow nostalgic to their redesigns. My personal favorite redesign is Tales', I know for most it's Curse, but I'm pretty sure all of the old timers like me think the original two were at the top of their 'game' and needed no redesign in the first place. I blame LucasArts. 😇

Both good looking games. It's worth remembering that SOMI looked very different on a CRT. Upscaled to a HD TV on the original hardware it doesn't look so good. The special editions look great though.
