Melanoma diagnosis, treatment, and prevention

It's less common than other skin cancers, but melanoma is more likely to grow and spread -- and it's showing up in a growing number of women in their 20s. In this "The Informed Patient" podcast, Daniel Thomas, MD, explains the risk factors of melanoma and how it's diagnosed, along with what treatment may involve. Thomas is an assistant professor of surgery at Upstate, specializing in complex general surgical oncology.
“The Informed Patient” is a podcast that covers health, science and medicine, featuring experts from Central New York’s only academic medical center. Upstate Medical University has four colleges (Medicine, Nursing, Health Professions and Graduate Studies); a robust research enterprise; and an extensive clinical health care system that extends way beyond Syracuse.
