There is a video of him and ROBERT DOWNEY, JR. where MEL is presenting an award to RDJ, and RDJ gives a wonderful speech about how it was MEL that saved him and gave him work at the worst time of his life and asked a lot of people to forgive RDJ for his missteps and look past them at his talent and how RDJ has apologized profusely and asked for forgiveness and turned his personal life around, and now Robert is trying to help MEL and saying MEL has suffered enough in Hollywood almost 20 years for his trespasses and that MEL should be forgiven also and look at his talents and how he can be useful again in Hollywood.

There are many people with Mexican names who live in America that support the idea of a wall and who voted for Trump. Mel is usually clued up on these things but I think he gets the entire point wrong on this one. Either a country has a border or it doesn't.

Your right. The United Nations under International Law has well-defined requirements to become a Nation-state; the first two requirements are (a) a permanent population; & (b) a defined territory. A secured border defines a state as a sovereign territory. Having a significant population of a territory that is not identified as a citizen or resident of a territory also jeopardizes this status as well (see Kurdistan as an example).

Hmmm.. that's a straw man argument if I ever heard one. The comment is old, bit this needs to be said for the record :) Can we really compare a group of penniless border hoppers to the Japanese Imperial Forces circa 1941-45 - perhaps the worlds largest and most brutal military machine at that time, led by a military semi-fascist government under a pawn demi-god emperor for whom 14 year boys were sent to a kamikaze death? Really the same kind of thing? When was the last time a group of border-hoppers put together a military combine, enslaved the local populace, death marching and working them until death by starvation, disease, exhaustion..? Half the Made in USA stuff made in US factories is made by immigrant labour - there is nothing wrong with that. I'm just wondering why the Hispanic immigrant are suddenly seen as an enemy. It's called dog-whistling, a classic proto-fascist political technique of creating an enemy within based on ethnicity. Hitler did it. Mussolini did it. Franco did it. Putin does it. The CCP does it (the Uighurs) Hey, no disrespect or lack of gratitude, the USA helped us out in the Battle of the Coral Sea and other theatres when the UK had stolen our troops, got the remainder captured in Burma and then abandoned us to fend for ourselves. It doesn't mean we can't call each other's logical dissonance. And for the record, Australia probably started this ball rolling with PM Jonh Howard "We choose who.." (2002) and Tony Abbot's "Stop The Boats" (2013) deterrence of refugees by cruelty and lies bullshit. And it still continues. Should we let everyone and anyone in? No. Should we restrict entry on the basis of ethnicity or race (rather than shared values). No. Is it a complex issue that needs extensive debate rather than polemics? Yes. Should we vilify illegal immigrants in dog whistling racist fear campaigns to gain office, much as Hitler (and others) once did the Jews and Gypsies...? Well, then we are no different from the fascists we defeated together in WW2.

Well for one members of active military do not have citizenship. They are property of the military until they divorce. Then they get citizenship back if they had it already. 2nd, soldiers without prior citizenship still are treated just the same as others in military. When they get out they have the opportunity to get it. Although I do agree they should automatically have it if they serve for at least one full contract. Citizenship is such a ridiculous thing anyways. To think that I can go to another country and not receive the same treatment that I can at home is ridiculous. We should be able to move about the world and have the same rules, policies, Healthcare, etc no matter where you go. Unless you have been caught hurting others or stealing, etc. This is common sense. The problem with that is we cannot do that due to 90% of the world is corrupt. They would eventually take away everything we have, give you what they thought was what you deserved, force you to work for free, or lock you up. Sounds familiar dont it......

When young (ironic how a movie -film that outlast time- actor & director forgets there is filmed recording of it) Gibson warned about China. Here is my question, how is anybody supposed to protect oneself or its territory? when he is making a film does the staff around it are allowed to to talk freely about it or do they have a gag order? Does his personal computer have firewalls to protect his information? The places where he lives, are they equipped with security systems? Each, and every of the above denoted are barriers designed to protect. why is he then against building a wall to protect a country? Does Gibson hires everybody that applies to make his movies or does he SELECT the best to work on his projects? There is only as much illegal immigration a country can absorb, and lastly, Gibson, like hundreds of other Hollywood derange minded fools, have their headquarters in exclusive -more times than none- well guarded areas, Financially impossible for the people they "love so much" to buy into. The only contact they have with them is when they are cutting their grass or cleaning their homes. Nice people, aren't these Hollywood characters?

Really? 3,507 USMOHs have been awarded. 90 recipients were black. 61 were Hispanic. 29 were Native American. 30 were Asian. 17 were Jewish. Feel free to respond and explain your initial claim. Were you simply repeating something you heard? I'm curious because I've heard this before. Frankly, it's insulting. And it has relevance to today's wars. Per the Department of Defense 79% of U.S. casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan have been non-Hispanic whites. The military isn't anywhere close to 79% white nor is the military-age cohort. That, unlike your risible claim, is overrepresentation.
