*A confused viewer* After listening to both sides, I don't know if the Meiteis sent the wrong MLA to represent them. I could not understand a single point he was trying to make especially getting all the historical facts wrong. 7.5% vs 27%, why would someone choose to be more backward? Smirking & impoliteness says a lot about his personality & his attitude towards the other community. He is not a representation of peace as he claims to be. I applaud Mr Karan for brilliantly navigating the interview and bringing it back on track.

It was extremely exhausting just watching the interview. It must have been much more difficult for Mr. Karan Thapar, yet he was able to carry on and listened to the emotional MLA sprouting false data, going off-topic, and making illogical claims. Kudos to the wire for bringing us unbiased news and narratives. Mr. Nishikant kept contradicting himself on several instances and repeated the same thing again and again instead of actually addressing the core issues they initially discussed. He was clearly the one jumping the gun while digging his own graves by opening avenues of new discussion.🙂 Mr. Thapar, thank you for your objective take on this pressing Manipur issue.

Besides throwing racial derogatory words to each other, I’d say there wasn’t any hate between any of the communities, people were living peacefully with each other. I’d say this hate sprung out from having “separate ideology” from other communities. Just as some brothers and sisters move out in different places because they were either manipulated or misguided by their wives and in-laws( The wives and in-laws here are the militants and the politicians). They don’t care for the common people. For instance when you’re running a Pablo Escobar level drug cartel and it’s in danger of being shut down, obviously Pablo Escobar would plan to have his business protected i.e. “separate administration“ or “separate state or country“.

Before the Bitler Govt. 2.0 ,People were living peacefully. Almost all the KUKI CSOs assured BITLER of their support in the fight against drugs and poppy plantation. And then he went beyond those as well maybe to provoke the other community and to start this violence. CM outtt.

M manipuri.... Mr nishikant is right in many aspects...... Is very unfortunate and unfair for valley dwellers to hv been restricted to only 9 percent when manipur is in fact for every manipuri.....

Whatever the accent issues u might be discussing may or not may not correct but what I felt after staying for more than 20 years outside Manipur, that's the major sentiments. Govt need to do minute senses to prove that wrong but I also come across huge pop of Bangladeshi in many pockets of Delhi in sewing in local garment industries. In metropolitan city like Delhi it's not an issue, because until now but in far flung border state like Manipur where economy is solely based on Central govt. grant, ita a surmountable issues. The reason being revenue is very limited and the ST holding top ranks are not paying income tax.

The Meitei MLA got his facts wrong ' 1. He blamed Nehru for giving away Kabaw Valley in 1947. Fact check : The British gave away Kabaw Valley to Burma in 1826 according to the 'Treaty of Yandaboo' 2. He said Kuki population jumped from 1℅ in 1901 to 28℅ in 2011. Fact check : The Kuki hill areas came under regular British administration at the end of the Anglo kuki war in 1919, so the first census available was 1921 in the Hill Areas. The kuki population in 2011 was not 28℅ it was 14℅.

India invades the Nagas and capture the land like the colonial powers and then call Naga freedom fighters as separatists and insurgents. That's similar to me annexing your private property and when you oppose me call you separatist and terrorist. I dont see any manipur militants with guns here bdw. Everywhere its kuki militant! Yes insurgents are there everywhere but we are particuatly talkng which insurgents is playing major role here and who is killimg the innocent civilians

Mr sapam remember that during and around 1907 Kuki language became the eastern frontier language and hills are ruled by the kukis. Any officer posting in the hill must know kuki language therefore honorarium was rewarded of about ₹ 1000 at the time.

Why divide in the first place in the name of ST and providing special privileges in buying land for only one community. Did not the gov foresee its long term effect when population increases.

A huge respect to sir Karan Thapar for speaking the truth 👍 from nagaland

This mla is the best man offered by Manipur government, whereas the kuki mla was calm and posed and the interview went with full clearity. (edited) This man is a shame!! Manipur govt has proved it with this man that they hate Kukis.

The Meitei ancestral land (inner Manipur) is only 700 sq mile, ie 10% of the land area of Manipur. And that 700 sq mile area was merged with Indian Union in 1949. The other remaining land area, 90% is Tribal ancestral land which was never merged with the Indian Union. THAT'S THE FACT. THAT'S THE NAKED TRUTH

Karan saying all the time "let me finish" but not letting him finish his sentence.

RESERVATION AND POPULATION IN MANIPUR: Reservation OBC+SC (27%+15.5%)=42.5% Meeitei+Pangal pupulation =57% Reservation for ST = 7.5% Total tribal population = 43% Now, 57 people enjoy 42.5% OBC+SC reservation quota. And, 43 people enjoy 7.5% ST reservation quota.
