I love how Adrian uses a folding chair for the intro and then when the loop is recorded he quickly discards the chair. Lots of us practice things sitting down that become awkward when we try them standing up. Adrian knows himself well enough to have a chair handy. I love it.

Damn I didn't know his age; would have guessed 10 years younger, and it is very hopeful that he still sounds so amazing at that age, for those of us contemplating what's ahead if we reach that age; I've had the pleasure of seeing multiple virtuosi over 70, and obviously it's possible to lose some speed and flexibility, but it's not inevitable, or at least it might take a while!

Fantastic bass playing - Tony Levin on speed! And he was no slouch. Excellent stuff, glad to see Belew's still got it.
Holy krap! Every thing played by all of them is bloody insane and perfect! When it comes to prog that isn't dressed up metal, rock, or blues, Adrian has been bringing it for decades.
I cannot say how much I love this, this is my favorite power trio!
As a longtime Crimson fan, I think Belew is the heir apparent to Fripps' throne - the mad looping and some of his solos are influenced by Fripp, yet they move beyond due to his own style - I wonder perhaps if that is why there no longer was room in KC for Adrian after so many years, two very large talents (Jakko is no threat) - such a great trio BTW, always amazing to see how much he loves music

Adrian, Jordan and Julie are my dream band. I mean, I can't believe how good it is.
Saw that song performed in ‘19. Chicago Old Town School of Folk Music. An amazing gig with an amazing talent line-up starting and ending with the Master of Disaster, Mr. Belew. Got to speak with him post-show. Reminded him he looks upon the Slick kids, Julie and Eric, with reverence just like Bowie looked at him On Stage famously on a live version of Stay when Adrian just blows the world away with his innovative style and energy. Adrian Belew is one of fusion/acid rock’s and musical geniuses in all of Music History.
This remains one of my favorite AB lineups and pieces. Incredible. Absolute prog heaven.
Just FYI, it is incredibly difficult to perform live using loops/prerecorded tracks. The slightest little screwup can mess up the whole song and Adrian seems to do it with ease. Band follows well too. I have a pretty busy KC schedule for this year, just saw Tony 2 nights ago (playing to a crowd of 30 people... 😞), Adrian in August, and Stick Men in October.

@@Glornt There is a history there you may not be fully aware of. I haven't heard 100% of the story, but what I heard was the '80's KC (the greatest, IMHO) was becoming dominated by Adrian, and moving away from Fripp's overbearing influence, and the other players, who also knew Fripp might replace them any moment, wanted Adrian to displace and replace Fripp, which Fripp started to sense, and dissolved that version of KC more or less. Adrian was invited back to the later incarnation, but more on a part time basis. Anyone have more to add to that?

Thanks Meinl for this brilliant record.👍
All three are superb with their instruments!
O M G!!! I didn't want this to end!! I loved Adrian playing with his recording the riff and using it as a soundscape on 2 outer space looking guitars and then playing the melody over them! The bassist and drummer provided the perfect canvas for Adrian to paint his unique style on it and the stop and go precision was so good, it was like hanging off a cliff's edge. Blew has really come into his own now, and I like him even more now because he's bald like me!! LOL 😂

Catched Adrian Belew Power Trio with fantastic Tobias Ralph on drums in Helsingborg Sweden in 2017. It was their last gig on the European tour that year. Was at the venue early and heard some familiar music going; it was ABPT at soundcheck. Stood there in aw and they performed bits of the repertoir; no complaints or asked to get out. Then at the gig Julie had some trouble with a pedal not working and Adrian just played some cool stuff and they soon got on with the gig again. The whole thing stayed in my mind; it went something special for me.
