    Nice review. I use the Rokinon Cine DS lenses and would say many of the same things about them. I shoot FF Sony, so not really apples to apples on either front. That BMPCC6K is a truly magical thing. It will be interesting to see how they round out this series of lenses and how consistent they are between the various focal lengths. Keep up the great work!

    Excellent reviews I really enjoy watching your lens reviews. I saw the 35mm review and I was hoping to watch the 50mm review. I personally like the 35mm better but I own the sigma 18-35 at this moment with the pocket 6k. So I was thinking on getting the 50mm instead so I can cover CU’s etc. watching your review made me think about the 35mm instead. I love 35mm field of view on the 6k. 50mm sometimes can be way to tight cuz it becomes an 80mm due crop factor. Do you think the 35mm will better to start playing around with this lens? I also feel like the 50mm could be nice for interviews. Thanks Hope to see more of your reviews when they released all the primes.

  • @hughchal

    I really like the idea of this lens for my Canon C70 - I would use it with a standard RF to EF adapter but I also have the Canon "speed booster" 0.71x adapter which would make it feel more like a 50mm as opposed to a 75mm on the C70. I would use it mostly for interviews on tripod. One thing in your review - the price now seems more like around 1000USD

    Good stuff - thanks for the review. Aside from the physical ‘cine lens’ qualities, how do you like the image of these meike lenses compared to your contax Zeiss? 28mm on super 35 is my favourite field of view too, seems to work for everything

  • @OfTwoLands

    @OfTwoLands

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks !! To me the Meike lenses are very different than the Contax. The Contax have more character and a more distinct look. The Meike are more consistant in aperture and size but also heavier and require a follow focus. I might do a video comparing to the two sets at some point :).

  • @local130
    @local1303 жыл бұрын

    Again, great content! Thank you! I know they are two completely different lenses, but how would you compare the Meike 35mm to the Sigma 18-35 at 35mm? Comparing a Prime to a zoom is never an easy thing, but I wonder if I should start with the 50mm as I have the 18-35 covered, at least with the 6K crop factor.

  • @OfTwoLands

    @OfTwoLands

    Thank you !! The Sigma is a lot more clinical and has a flatter image. I think it depends on what you do. I film my interview and product shots with the sigma and I probably wouldn’t use the Meike for that. However I would pick the Meike over the sigma for faces and details :).

    Slightly off-topic question: what's your experience been with IR pollution on the bmpcc4k/6k? I noticed here that you used a vnd instead your irnds and wonder if you had any issues with ir pollution because of that. Also, how does the nisi vnd compare with any other vnds you've tried in the past?

  • @OfTwoLands

    @OfTwoLands

    3 жыл бұрын

    It's actually been pretty good. I did have a few occasions a while back and that's why I decided to get the NISI filters in the first place. Didn't experience any issues with IR pollution using the VND, of course I prefer using the cinema filters though. And to be completely honest with I don't use VND that much, even though they're super handy. I had an old BW Lightcraft years ago and it was pretty bad at the extremes. This nisi one is nice :).

If the lens is designed for a S35 sensor, I thought that using it on a S35 sensor camera (like the 6k or 6k pro), a 50mm should feel like a 50 mm instead of an 80mm. But since these are S35 lenses shouldn’t they not be affected by the crop factor of the S35 Blackmagic’s sensor? I knew that the crop works when you put FF lenses, not S35.

    A 35mm is always a 35mm, a S35 lens just means they are built differently than FF ones and cover a smaller sensor. So the 35mm will still 'look' like a 50mm on a FF if that makes sense.

    Which do you think better Meike Prime 50mm T2.1 or S35 Prime for BMPCC6K and EOS R.

    It depends what focal lengths you need and if you intend to go full frame at some point for video work.

    @@OfTwoLands I am guessing Black Magic will release the full frame camera someday soon. At this moment I own BMPCC6K. So I was wondering if I should invest for future full frame needs.

    What do you think about the sigma 18-35 mm or should I go with the Meike Prime 35mm T2.1? I usually film with my iPhone 12 pro max but I am purchasing my first cinema camera the Blackmagic 6k pro this week. With this being my first lens what should I buy. I want to shoot films and music videos.

    I love the Sigma, very versatile and a must have for any EF camera in my opinion :). As a first lens the Sigma makes more sense :).

    @@OfTwoLands How do you manage to shoot video on a digital video camera as if on a film camera? I watched a lot of videos, and most people at 24fps 1/48 the picture is too sharp, too digital (as if not a movie, but a reportage). Perhaps you slow down the video by up to 5% during editing? What are the operators doing wrong?
