Just a bit of a tip: if you don't want to have to restore your headlights every few months, you can use a sealant or wax (Meguiar's M21 or Ultimate Wax work well) after restoring (or before the lights ever get cloudy) to protect them. Doing this to the headlights will protect them just like wax protects your paint. I have found the Meguiar's headlight protectant to be near-worthless, and using the aforementioned sealants, I have yet to need to re-restore any headlight, even on cars that are parked outside in the Arizona sun on a daily basis.

Sounds good, how do you apply it? Is it just with a cloth or do you buff it up with a machine after? Cheers.
I tried that cuz I watch a video like you post a long time ago I just did it within this week and my headlights look amazing your brand-new no I was going to have to spend $200 on headlights for my car and now I spent $7 and now they got brand new headlights
One of my closest friends uses this as a paint cleaner on his Z06 Corvette. This works well with a lot of his trim pieces which are carbon fiber too
i just this afternoon used this on a 2012 Camry that sits in the sun every day and the headlights were trash. this literally took less than 5 minutes and next to no effort and the headlights look like new. i was shocked how well it worked. ten i bought the 3M headlight sealer (like moist towelettes), rubbed the towelettes over the lenses and now supposedly sealed the deal. i am very satisfied with this product.
Nice to see how many steps it takes. I was disappointed with single application on my car, but clearly I need to keep going.
i just finished using this stuff it's amazing it clean all the haze on my headlights they practically look brand new definitely pleased!.

nice, I know as long as it's a light haze it works great! However, once it gets bad then you need one of the more powerful step ups.
Thanks man! I will try that one in my Porsche. Mine is 10 times less durty as yours. It must work! If not I will step up to the restauration kit

Dude, THANK YOU! Just tried it and it worked like a charm. edit: About 2.5 months later the headlights are once again a little cloudy looking, despite coating it with a quality wax twice during that time. I guess it doesn't last that long and I will have to add this procedure every 2 months or so.

Haven't used my kit yet. Saw a video where a baking soda paste was used with some elbow grease. Thinking magic eraser would be good with cleaner(s).

I picked up the heavy duty kit for my old truck but will be using the drill ball and the plastX on my new cars headlights and keeping them sealed. Ever thought of using a 3" pad on your DA with the plastX?
Works a treat, but I would use UV clear coat to protect it for a much longer period, great job though.

+Acc0rd79 There is a special clear coat spray paint for the plastic headlight lens. It provides permanent UV protection. You can gently wet sand between coats. Chris Fix has a nice You Tube video with some good info and some hints on techniques for getting the best results. I am going to try it on my Volvo because I am tired of putting the protectorant on the lenses every month; California sun is just like Florida sun plus the ozone eats the plastic too.

hi thanks for yous video, could you tell me what is the duration in the time of the product? thanks
You should clean the headlight with isopropyl alcohol prior to polish
You do not use the UV protectant? Why not. Seems it would keep you from having to clean the yellow off so often.
If you use 1000 grit sandpaper and water and sand your headlights before you put on the McGuire's headlights cleaner it will be done in no time and the lights will new.☺️
I used this product on a 2011 infinity g37x. I wasn't that impressed because I thought it would work better. Maybe I have to give it a third hand or so. I'm going to wash headlights and try again. +RanGer498 The problem is, this isn't a permanent fix, that product wears off over time like a wax does so it needs to be constantly reapplied maybe once a month.

i have meguairs how the f do spell it again? anyway... i have the meguairs polishing compound but im too lazy to go to the store to get the meguiars platsx, does the polishing compound works?
Hi,i use Meguiar's Ultimate Compound on headlights and it works good.I would like to know what gives more Plastx than UC?
@Acc0rd79
8 жыл бұрын
I think the plastic is actually made for the plastic vs the compound that is made to cut through paint. But I do understand where you are coming from, I have seen many pros use compounds and polish to get all of the nasty junk off.
Those are my Mexico's honking . Dam those dude's man
I sanded mines 180 400 800 ima bout to do 1k then 2k then the plastic x but idk how to seal it
Hit it with some clear now
Meguiars ultimate compound works better than Anything I have ever tried on headlights.
Kenny Powers!!
How come the rear break light lenses don't get cloudy like the front? Dont the rear lenses get the same amount of sun as the front?
@harmagician1
2 жыл бұрын
Rear lights are designed to scatter the light, which is why the red and orange covers don't look clear. Front lights are designed to shine light directly onto road.

Thanks for stopping by buddy:)
I can't believe people still use toothpaste and toothbrush or go and pay $50 for restorations instead of using this one for $6. That UV rays stuff doesn't work though, it has zero effect for longevity. I might try using a car paint sealant like c-quartz or sonax polymer netshield next time. I apply the Meguiars Plastx by squeezing a line horizontally over the headlight, spread it with the finger and cover entire headlight with it, let it soak in for 2-3 minutes than buff it with microfiber towel. This stuff is just as good as the restoration kits for 1/5 the price and 1/10 the effort.

yah that stuff is great, I've used it several times on different cars. I wouldn't say it's better than wetsanding the headlights but it's good!

Starts to yellow the following day as it's exposed to more sun! It removes any remaining original uv coating that was there. Clear coating is the best way to prolong results.
