Meguiar's world class wax VS Hempel TecCel Wax

A new wax for the blue stripe on the cabin side, Meguiar's Marine/RV Pure Carnauba Blend Boat Wax is on the list of the worlds best waxes so I'll give it a try to see if it can keep my blue stripe nice and dark the whole summer.
I test the Meguiar's against the Hempel TecCel Wax to discover wich wax there is the best, I use Hempel on starboard side and the Meguiar´s on the port side.
The rest of the cabin is polished with the cheaper International Polish and Wax product, an cheap and easy way to protect the gelcoat for a season.
Gleerustol Marine is made for stainless and apply a protective surface that protects against UV and weather.

    Hello. A year ago, I discovered that this unit was out of order. A new one is very expensive. A friend of mine helped me build and assemble this device based on a cheap controller. LEDs were used instead of bulbs. I cleaned the old case of the device from the insides and inserted LEDs there. Works good. The price of the components is about 10 euros.

    For the warning panel you can be pretty sure that the electronic module is internaly going to die. It was the same with my panel and it ended up with enoying false alarms and anunciation fails. Problem is the internal lamp driver IC ( ULN 3002 ). Unfortuneately it is non repaireable because the entire module is covered in resin. After I was recovered from shock about the price Volvo is calling for a replacement unit, I decided to build my own. It works for more than two years now like a charm. It features some goody's i.e. like bright red LED's instead of bulbs. Also includes an engine run hour and start cycle recording with fault history of oil press, cooling temp and generator fail. All to download via Wlan to a mobile phone or tablet Let me know, if you like to get more information about this. Cheers

    Tino! Thanks for the perfect video again! May I ask you something? In minute 4.00 until 4.25 there we see the Bavaria 201- 12 V panel. I have a question about it: underneath you fingers there are 4 lights: 3 in a row and one underneath: my question: the red light at the right of the three ones , when does that lid? When does that burn?: when all main switches are off: does it has to be lightened or not? And question number 2: what does the middle green light represent: what does it mean? Thanks for answering! Hans from Holland

    Think it is a part of the unsolved mysteries in the Bavaria yacht. But when looking at the symbols it seem like you have a battery bank nr. 1 and nr. 2, I know when I cut the power to the boat then the red one to the right illuminates meaning the voltage is under 10.8V as displayed at the icon. Think the point is you then know when your battery bank nr. 2 is empty, maybe I should test it at some point. The battery bank nr. 1 has a "diode" symbol and a green LED and there is also a green LED in the middle, but this is for now still on the unsolved mysteries list. I could maybe be a "full charged" symbol for battery bank nr. 1 and when both battery bank 1 and 2 is fully charged then the green in the mittle illuminates.

    HelloTino, For years I buffed and polished 'The Faded Blue Lines' which only stay blue for a very short time before fading again. So I finally decided to spray paint over the blue and wax, 4 years later the blue is still in excellent condition without any attention other than a quick polish

    Jeg har prøvet at bytte rundt på pærene og det giver ingen forskel. Den rette løsning er nok et nyt panel eller "electronic box" dims til ca. 3000kr. eller måske nogle LED pærer der kan give mere lys ved en lavere volt.

    Put a multimeter on those bulb connections make sure they are getting the voltage they need, it could be the bulbs or loss of current because of corrosion but you should be able to trace it back as long as you know what voltage the bulbs should be getting. Did you use some proper deoxit spray?

  • @twiper

    @twiper

    The bulbs in the middle is only getting around 8 Volts and the two in the sides gets around 11 Volts. The voltage in the display area and directly at the electronic box is 12.6 Volts so there is no power loss from the battery to the pedistal. My guess is there is something wrong with the electronic box, but it seems like it's the same in my bavaria friends Bav32.

    @@twiper I would guess you are just getting voltage drop from corrosion along that cable from the control box on the engine, each one slightly different, you can confirm it by testing voltage is 12.5v+ on each of those pins (or testing resistance if there is no voltage).

    @@twiper If you do find that there is voltage drop then if you have enough cable length and the corrosion does not go too far and you are handy with a soldering iron then you could cut to where the corrosion stops and reconnect the wires to the socket.
