I absolutely love this stuff! It has transformed My Mom's Subaru from a scratched, dull charcoal metallic to a vibrant, glossy finish! It's a winner! low cost, nice working time. Not the easiest thing to remove...that is ok. I will buy it again when I use up this bottle. $10, You can't go wrong!
Personally, I’ve had great experience with the ultimate compound when it comes down to oxidation and light swirls from washing. On red trucks especially!

Me too I just used it
im definitely new to this side of the industry, im a super DIYer, ive painted many cars and always relied on laying down the smoothest paint possible. for the first time ever, after repaintng my project car, i decided to cut it down with sand paper, thinking 1k and 2k wet sand was practically enough. to my own expectation, 2k wetsand with just wax over was better than what i expected. BUT i never realized how in depth these scratches could be! i accidentally found this video and it was exactly what ive been thinking about in the back of my mind. Excellent review. i was here for the process more so the product and just wow.
Meg's UC is a derivative of Meg's M-105. Slightly less aggressive and in my experience, much less dusting. Awesome product for the money!
Thank you for keep sharing your experience. As always superb videos! 👌👍
VERY professional and honest. A smart, true review. Excellent video! Many thanks AD!
Your videos are amazing I really appreciate the detail and effort you go through to show actual results with a massive variety of brands, so informative its a wealth of knowledge that saves us newbies a lot of time and money!

I have used the compound and polish for my villeinage guitars it is amazing. It fixes hair line cracks and gives great results.

Great job on the videos Brian. I like how you don’t over explain everything and don’t drag out the videos like a few people do. I’ve always done my own cars and looking to maybe start my own business. Keep up the good work.

Completely agree with your assessment. Personally, I like it and use it. It has a place. The ease of use and its open time are what gets me.

That was very helpful, thanks.
I have used this product for years and it continues to perform with excellent results for me. I've used it on new auto paint, hand polishing nitrocellulose lacquer on musical instruments and on plastic headlights to de-fog. In every case I'll start out with several stages of sanding ending in 2000, then hit it with the polisher and this product. It's great.
I used meguiars ultimate compound and polish for my first car 3 years ago first time with a no name brand da polisher on dark ashen gray metallic paint and it really made my paint pop. Love it

Picked up Seal-B to use on black-silver-gray cars and it does really well with some minor swirls and does give them a pop. Also picking up some business from co-workers. I noticed temperature is key with compounds. Like the 3M perfect it polishes don't dust much when its 80F or so. But when its 95-100F+ forget it, it'll be dusting after 1 minute all over the place unless you keep spraying on a detailer product as you go or something.
Very impressive indeed for a retail product and price point. Did a black 79 MGB roadster today. Drove 49 miles to go and correct it (which is a lot in my tiny island). Definitely worth it. Love working on single stage.. specially dark colors! Came home, saw you uploaded a video, had to watch it.

Yes! Dark single stage!❤️
Nice video. I agree that it is a good compound to start off with. It is where I started off. It is derived from M105 so it does contain SMAT abrasives. Just less cut than M105 but more user friendly. D300 on microfiber is excellent as well.

Meguiars compound is the best stuff on Earth
Megs UC is.the best. I always apply by hand after a warm water wash. Follow with one coat sealant and two coats carnauba. Hasn't missed yet.
I'm glad someone covered this. I'd be curious what you would have seen had you IPA wiped the panel afterwords thou, or even better used a grease and wax remover. Megs claims no fillers, but I'm not sure I buy that.

Gyeon prep is used... this compound is true. What you see is what you get. I will start showing the panel wipe in the next round of vids I shoot. 😁👍🏻

Hi Brian. Recently subscribed to your channel. Loving all the info and thorough product reviews. I recently started out in detailing and have learnt the basics through you tube. I used ultimate compound with my griots g9 polisher on my 18 month old black Hyundai ioniq. I followed up with meguiars ultimate polish. Chemical guys blacklight glaze and meguiars ultimate liquid wax. The gloss is off the charts. However I still have swirl marks. Obviously I am new at this but I am wondering if I should get a more aggressive compound and are my expectations too high. Sorry I didnt know how to send you this directly. Thanks again for all the info on your channel.
Ultimate compound is rather impressive given it's cheap price! I would suggest adding a solvent panel wipe to the tests though as the oils from the compounds will aid in masking some scratches even after wiping the residue off.

I treid it with a rotary buffer and wool pad the results were amazing on a 1966 ford that paint was trash .more than happy
Very good presentation of this product. I have what I'm pretty sure is a 6" orbital polisher and hope it does okay. If not, I will invest in an actual variable speed rotary polisher for best results. Thanks! 🙏🇺🇸👍

super video
I realize this video is over 3 years old however I am glad I found it. Been looking at many many products to detail my wife's brand new vehicle. I was looking for a polish and considered HD Speed or Meg's D301 Finishing Wax, since I already have a bottle of this and having watched this video I think I'll save a few bucks and just use Meg's Ultimate. Any advice?
Meguiar's ultimate compound is an excellent compound for a consumer version! Derivatives of the M105. Speaking of M105, when do you think to compare to M110 please?
As someone who does autobody. The way you sanded that fender you put some serious finger scratches into that panel regardless of grit paper. Not sure if that was on purpose or not but it takes a lot to get out finger scratches. Re sanding would have been a more realistic test especially for an over the counter product. Unless of course you used a heavy duty compound which wouldn't be so user friendly. Honestly I wouldn't have wasted my time even trying to polish those scratches out because even if you make it shinny those finger scratches are still there and once the product fades you will see those scratches all over again.
Simple question, can using a speed 5 cause some sort of hollowgrams if you do 6 passes? is it best to keep the machine on speed 3 and rather repeat the section of the panel if needed?
Old, experienced driveway detailer 😎
Hey Brian thanks for the info and good video. I'm a beginner at paint correction. I bought a car that has quite a bit of overspray. I used a 2000 grit sandpaper on a small area and it smoothed out and removed the overspray. My question is can I just use a cutting pad with an orbital and this ultimate compound to remove the overspray? And then finish with a polish and wax or is it prudent to wet sand the vehicle prior to compound cutting? I've tried chemical guys clay bar and it is not aggressive enough to remove this overspray. Any advice? TIA!
I am very upset with Brian from Apex Detail. You have taken away every excuse for a dull finish. I can't look at a car without immediately thinking of correcting the finish. Now my 21 year old Nissan looks better than the new Benz it is parked next to. By the way, I am correcting every family members car for the experience. Actually I am very appreciative for the high quality instruction you are providing. Peace

I'm going to try this. I wanted a compound, but very mild. Rather be safe than sorry. This stuff might do the trick. I usually just wax my cars once a year scary. But would like to get the swirl marks out now. But just go One Step Above. So I'm guessing this will do it. So much info on compounds.
How does this compound finish though. Like could it be used as a single stage compound for some quick and basic correction without the need to use multiple stages of compounds? I know some compounds claim to turn from a compound to a polish as the micro abrasives break down....
For 800 grit scratches, what do you recommend in terms of compounds? Would using a more aggressive pad work as well?
Not sure if you have any follow ups to this but if this compound was able to correct 1500 grit wouldn’t that be good enough to be part of at least an “ honorable mention “??? No dusting, long cycle, and finishing? I’m extremely curious to no more of you input on this. Thanks
I have a Chevy suv with hard paint and I have tried using an orange foam pad with ultimate compound and even all the chemical guys v32 to 36 and it barely removed the scratches so I just bought some wool pads would this compound work with it or should I just go for d300 polish or d300 correcting compound?
Me... Enthusiast. I really appreciate your videos. You have given me the confidence to put a DA polisher to work. Thank you

did you ever do the comparison between d300, ultimate compound & the third compound you mentioned?
Can it be used on motorcycles especially the plastic coated body panels ?
My front bumper has paint/clear fading. Now I have used ultimate compound and after the ultimate polish. I have a rotary polisher. I'm scared of literally burning through the clear and paint, so I do back and forth movements but I don't stay too long on the bumper. It does the job at removing the fading pretty good. But my problem is that the fading comes back pretty quick after rain or even if I don't wax it right after. My front bumper need some help. Am I doing something wrong. Should I be more patient on the compound and work it slower on the paint? Or should I go slower on my ''back and forth" movement to polish? I mean it does the job on the spot, but a couple days after, the fading comes back. I'm out of solution and the rest of the car looks real good. Only the front bumper is taking the corrosion and all the fading. I know heat dissipation is different on the plastic vs metal, but I'm about to go super aggressive on this bumper. What do you think ?
Have you made the video comparing the d300 & ultimate compound & m105 vs these sand grits? also, can you potentially do a d302 vs m205 vs ultimate polish?
I purchased Meguiars Ultimate Compound, Polish and Wax, do I wash the car before or after compound and polish?

Apex Detail did the truck with a DA polisher and the boat with the Rotary for a little while. That rotary jerk me all over the place. I use the pads that came with the rotary which are like egg crate. I probably had something to do with it. So I ended up finishing the boat out with the da polisher as well
@apexdetail85
5 жыл бұрын
Yes the pad selection is crucial when it comes to the rotary. Lake Country blue and purple synthetic as well as the low lint white pads are the way to go.
@theeabster1983
5 жыл бұрын
Apex Detail I'll give them a shot. For the da polisher I've been using Chemical Guys hexpad with the hole in the center. I we'll certainly order a few of the Lake Country pads for my 7 inch rotary backing plate. I got to admit though if this thing throws me around like it did last time. I will have to go to the gym for a little while first and then try it again later. I know I'm not telling you anything but with the Rotary polishing the side of a boat it's hard to hold the pad completely flat and if you do not that machine just runs up down back forth very hard to control
And no problems like ruin my paint or the clear coat?
Red or orange sponge for compound ? How much rpms?? My car has swirls and small scratches
is that true we do not often use meguiars ultimate compound? because it can scrape paint thickness. So many people recommend to use meguiars ultimate compound in six month, but not until six month some swirl mark appears in car body. Can u give some advice for me
BTW...... I mixed a bottle of M105 with Ultimate Comp and the ultimate helped reduce the dusting. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you for this great video. Meguiar's has three products that seems to have similar functions: 1) Scratch-X 2) Ultimate compound 3) and Ultimate polish. So which one is the most abrasive and which is the least? I am imagining that scratch-X is most abrasive and the polish least - I have all of them but I feel like they work best on different sections! Any advice on the difference between these three will help! thanks !
@danlc95
6 ай бұрын
Least aggressive is Ultimate Polish (it's even finer than their M210). Next is ScratchX, then Ultimate Compound. With pad choice, Ultimate Polish can do some cutting. I have done a lot of "one step' polish services with Ultimate Polish on green Hex Logic pads, and a Porter Cable 7424xp polisher.
My genius aunty washed her brand new car with a scoura scratched the shit out of clear coat thank god for meguiars ultimate got 90% out for her
Ultimate compound is as good as 3d one. People turn there noses up at UC, because its available ay Wallymart...
Don't know if you can tell my what happened but this stuff stained my black paint. Any thoughts?
So the difference from this to a pro product is the pro cuts faster?? Gives a better finish also?
Need to wash car after polish? Before putting on sealant
Recommended ultimate compound or ultra cut compound?
What would be your recommended applicator for the Meguirs UC with a random orbital?
Can I use this as a pre wax polish ? I was given this and instead of using polish can I us this compound instead?

Hi Brian. Thank you for your videos. I just got into detailing a couple of years ago. I am an enthusiasts and Your videos have really assisted me in really taking what I thought I knew to another level. Yesterday I was able to grab my brothers neglected 2017 black Camaro. I started with a thorough wash and Decontamination. Then jumped in using the Megs ultimate compound utilizing a DA and foam cut pad. This product and method did a great job. The only problem for me was I was running out of time. I still needed to polish and wax. My bro needed his car back and was giving me a hard time. I planned on using the Megs finish polish and protect with ethos ceramic wax. So I skipped the polish and went right to the Ethos wax. The car came out amazing. Will I experience any disadvantages with the clear by not polishing?? Let me know your thoughts. Thank you! -Rich

@@soosgame2293Yep, sometims a two step is unavoidable. Ultimate Polish on a good cut pad makes for a great one step before adding protection. The green Hex Logic is the pad I use most for that. If Im finishing, or removing light oxidation/towel marks I use the blue Hex Logic. Underrated, and overlooked polish.
As a first timer, what brand/model polisher would you recommend?

Not enough aggression to cut.. try a microfiber application pad or even a MF towel instead.. rub hard and fast until your arm gets tired.. wipe away and repeat several times. If several rounds of hand compounding still don't cut, you're going to need more aggressive products and/or equipment to do the job. Good luck!
