MEGHAN MARKLE'S SUITS WARDROBE...WAS IT BETTER??

Why did Meghan Markle look so much better on the TV show Suits than she did during Royal Appearances? Did she even look any better on Suits?
Did Rachel Zane have better hair than Meghan Markle IRL?
What are the differences between Meghan's appearance on the show Suits vs HRH Meg phase vs PC Meg (private citizen meg)?
Which style suited Meghan Markle the best:
Is it her current, post-royal look aka PC Meg defined by fake-a-car-chase Gold Dress, that horribly unflattering red monstrosity & Giant Pants?
Or perhaps her brief time with the Royal Family where she foolishly rebelled against color scheme requests, ill-fitting bras and was notoriously unprofessional even in dress?
Did her days as an actor on Suits, at the mercy of wardrobe stylists & directors, provide some good fashion moments?
Today's Friday Fashion Edition is a highly requested one, and spoiler alert, I never have watched the show Suits. So this was my first time looking at the sets, costumes and the character played by Meghan, Rachel Zane, in any great detail and it was quite fun to examine what the costume department put together for her wardrobe. We're covering what styling and costume tricks they likely utilized to create the looks we see in this show, plus the TV Hair difference.
Including the most-seen outfit formula on the show, the best dress I've seen Meghan Markle wear- ever -at the end of the video, and even the wedding dress! Was the dress Meghan wore as Rachel Zane better than the dress Meghan wore to marry Prince Harry?
At the end of today's video we discuss the frequent accusations of narcissism aimed at Meghan Markle & debunk one misconception seen plaguing the comments section!
Don't miss the products tab for a Rachel Zane inspired capsule wardrobe so you can shop the look!
There are timestamps / chapters for today's video for your viewing pleasure!

Which is so ridiculous, she could have had an excellent wardrobe assistant as part of her royal team. Catherine has had the same wardrobe consultant / manager since she got married, and it shows: all her items are specially tailored to suit her figure. Meghan just decided she knew better than everyone else, and that the best way to dress herself was to spend as much money as possible on luxury brands (tailored? In sizes to suit her measurements? Ha! That's not how the rich dress, decided Meghan.)

Supposedly Jessica Mulroney stayed to help her as a stylist. What it seemed, in retrospect, she broke every rule she could to go back to California. Part of her attraction in suits comes also in my view from a sort of "inner tension" due to discipline. Her expression is "I need to succeed, I need to overcome obstacles, I want to apply my moral ideas to society". There was a drive. As soon as she harpooned her prince, it was all about: look you all, I made it, look you all I have him round my little finger, look you all what (strange) outfit I wear today....look you all, what I dare.... So honestly, discipline was gone and the show she put on was a S***show!!!👠👒👑🔍

Some of the boundaries the Queen put on the wardrobe of the ladies was to help with being photographed all the time. Down to crossing your legs so you are not flashing, low cut dresses and wearing hose to give legs a finished look and it helps clothes move over the torso. There is usually a reason for protocols. Great analysis today. Cannot wait for comments on the humbug dress. 😅

Another element of how her Suits wardrobe flattered her, compared to her own choices: they primarily put her in very soft colours. I like how you explained the many reasons that she looked better on Suits. That the fact she didn't look as polished in the Royal Family was not entirely under her control. She did have the ability to have to hire a stylist. When posing for staged Royal shots, she could try to remember the techniques that Suits used to get the best shots of her. I liked her wedding dress for her character a lot better than her Royal wedding dress. I was very disappointed in her wedding dress because she had a very large budget and again the ability to take advice from a stylist to select a better dress for her entrance on the World Stage. I also appreciate how you explained that you knew you weren't and can't diagnose Meghan with npd.

@@chockie62 That was the label she put on Jessica, her 'bestie' [for as long as that lasted - as Ninaki Priddy can testify] so she could take her then-friend on the Monarchy's paid-for trips around the world, including their first official tour to Australia [where she complained about not having the entire Governor General's Mansion at their disposal, rather than 'just a wing', threw hot tea at a staff member because 'it didn't taste right' and screamed at Lady Cosgrove, "F*** off! Don't you know who I am?!", then between the 2 American 'ladies' labelled the official tour "Tour Cr*p"]. We cannot diagnose NPD. But we can say that acting with some common narcissism is being unable to reference outside of ourselves. Being obstinately, "I know best" and "I will do what I want to do" and making bad decisions and excluding help, is being hubristic. Especially if the same person prides themself on having excellent taste.

I read a quote from her about her Suits wedding dress, but I don’t recall her words exactly. I believe it was something like she thought it was beautiful but her own choice of wedding gown would be very different if she were to marry again. I think she said her character on the show (Rachel) was a perfectionist or highly driven & she herself is more California laid back & then mentioned loving Caroline Bessette Kennedy’s wedding dress. She didn’t use word minimalist I don’t think,….I do believe her that she envisions “effortless elegance”, her 1st wedding dress was also fairly minimalistic, (& imo did not do tons for her either, it was better than the royal dress but not great). The Suits gown is the best wedding look to me, too, like many say here. I do truly find her to be a very beautiful woman, esp when younger, but her first wedding dress didn’t accentuate her beauty either imo. Thought it was better than the Givenchy though! My opinion with no basis but my feelings, is that her Royal wedding dress style was also partly in reaction to Catherine, POW. I have a feeling she wanted everything to be opposite of C, like no eyeliner, minimal makeup, hair up but also disheveled, no lace, no form fitting, blindingly white white… I’ve read a lot & noted some say she kept changing her mind & that obviously limited the designer. But I do believe she chose & wanted that neckline & the overall bare/stark look with the special silk/s. She was maybe thinking Audrey Hepburn, but… it ain’t effortless unless our Good Lord created you similarly built. With fashion, you gotta play the hand your dealt. It is too bad she cannot consistently release this inner vision she has of herself. She is so beautiful & was dealt a great hand by Heaven. Sometimes she got it right when royal, like to me that green flower print dress, with jacket I think it was Self Portrait maybe? Or vampires wife? I don’t know these brands but I read a lot & have always loved fashion. That look was so cute on her or the light blue dress she’s wearing in a photo that HMTQ (may she RIP) had displayed at one time in her office. But, to me again just my suspicion, she wanted to not be pretty in that feminine way she associated with Catherine POW’s look.

I agree that her "Suits" outfits were very good on her, much better than the couture garments she has worn ever since she caught Harry's attention. I think what she wore in private life at the time was also better than what came afterwards. Maybe after she was given a clothing allowance from then Prince charles, she started to look only at the designer labels rather than at flattering fit.

Great video. I really enjoyed this one. Yes, as someone who was in a long term relationship with a clinically diagnosed socio narcissist, by a qualified Psychiatrist with extensive experience, I totally agree with your comments about her personality. And I completely agree, the most challenging part of the narcissistic personality is the very fact that their behaviour to them, is just FINE, they see YOU and everyone else as the problem. Why would they need help or to see a Dr about their behaviour when clearly, it's everyone else who has the issue? So they go undiagnosed with those around them suffering. That was exactly my experience, and the actual diagnosis in my situation came because the person went to a Psychiatrist after an appointment was scheduled to discuss somebody else's issues. They only went to the specialist to prove how correct they were. It seems to me that many narcissists are diagnosed by accident. They're going to the Psych because they perceive that they're correct and right about something, and they're accidentally opening themselves up for clinical assessment! Rather than being proven correct as they believe themselves to be, they exposed themselves, the mask slipped, and they were diagnosed with NPD. It's a beautiful but rare thing😂🎉

It’s still surprising or confusing that she didn’t retain the tips and tricks - or just chose to disregard them - when she was dressing for arguably a higher caliber of appearance. Even if she had shown up for occasions wearing slim skirts and blouses, she would have looked better than the belted dresses and balloon pants. And in the Suits pics we never saw her undergarments. That’s why I don’t have a great deal of respect for that specialty. Another reason I’m not wowed by psych people is because you can ask 10 of them to give you a diagnosis, and you’ll get at least 3 or 4 different conclusions. Someone used to tell me that my clothes were too loose, even though many of my dresses were seen using the pattern size that I measured for by an experienced seamstress. I think the other person was in the “tight” school of thought. You have to be able to move in your clothes. In sewing, that room to breathe is called “ease.” It jumped out at me that on Suits, MM’s facial expression looked normal or at ease. In the royal pictures and any other ones to this day, her expression has this odd vibe of “I’m begging you for your approval, ok?” I am not a fan of hers by any means, but it is kind of sad.

Agreed! Once she got access to (then) Prince Charles wardrobe funding she just went nuts. ( In 2019 MM spent £975,000 on her wardrobe, Catherine spent £103,000, which was up from her previous year of £88,000) And MM has never learned that how expensive an outfit is doesn’t matter a jot if it doesn’t fit or suit you!! The outfit I have that garners the most positive comments is a “me made”, so it is tailored precisely and the actual cost is about $40 plus my skill. And I do have designer clothes but not a standard models body. (Okay, not any kind of models body 😂😂😂) I learn so much from Beebs about why things do or do not work ❤

When you brought up how important camera angles are, it makes it even more clear how gorgeous the princess of Wales is that she always looks so good in so many angles!

One clothing item that carried after suits was the button shirts, rolled up at elbows. The shirts sometimes while on suits were intentionally styled a little less tidy (not tucked in all the way, etc)

Both Harry and Meghan suffer from severely underestimating how much work behind-the-scenes people did for them. They seem to think that it was them all by themselves making them who they were; this goes to show that it’s all the people working for them that make the magic happen. Once they came out from under that protective shield, it became obvious how oblivious they are.

Do we have photos of the original wedding dress to Harry???? The one she cast aside at the last minute to throw everyone off?!? And she had an excellent stylist, but that best friend got thrown under the bus.

Dr Grande, who is a therapist/psychologist, called her a narcissist but said he is not diagnosing her. Edit: Another great video. I also thought she looked better in images from Suits. I do see know that the angles and postures see to account for the difference.

Regarding MeAgain's narcissism... I'm not an environmentalist but I don't need one to tell me the sky is blue. Whoever can't see that MeAgain is not only a narcissist, but a psychopath as well, needs a professional themselves.

I doubt she had any say over what she wore on Suits. It all goes wrong when she is the one making decisions in her life, no matter what those decisions are.

Good video! It was a great way to compare what she has worn since being in the Royal Family, and what happens when you have a professional dress her.

The earlier seasons she weighed more. With her short torso you could see it more in her midsection along with having a rounder face; hence the butt. She couldn't walk in heels on the show; always looked like her ankles were gonna snap. Also, Rachel Zane hardly ever wore shirts with sleeves. Drove me nuts. Same with Donna. LoL

She had some help from her friend who traveled with her. But she did not like anyone say they styles her and insisted that she styked herself. Ego got her trapped in a situation that a good stylist could have helped her avoid.

I guess when she was in Suits they told her what to wear and she did what she was told. However, it seems like when she was in the royal family, she thought she knew better. There was probably a deep lack of trust on her part so she did whatever she thought. Since she's obviously not a stylist, she spent a lot of money in designer clothes that didn't fit and/or flatter her, resulting in frumpiness to the nth degree. She's still in that mode.

Not so much bigger (though some people like that) as shapelier. I’ve never done it myself, as a thin woman, but have known enough other thin women who have “padded” for special occasions. To each her own!
