@Nana Yeye no, you said and i quote "indigenous to Jaintia people" you didnt say Jaintia Hills. Well, it is more specific to War Jaintia. Actually, it doesnt really matter cause we are all of the same Hyniew trep tribe, but since you had to differentiate in your original comment, so, i made it more specific. Otherwise, saying Khasi was enough, 'cause it generally includes all the Khasi subtribes like the khynriam, the pnar, the bhoi, the war and even the Lyngngam. 😊

Meghalaya is so, so beautiful. I enjoy going there 😍😍. It has the cleanest village of Asia..consisting of only 100 families. Also - the Living Root bridge of Mawlynnong (same village) is just so serene...I spent four hours just lazing around on it n half a day just exploring the river n the waterfall ...and from the tall tree house just outside of the village, you can see the Indo-Bangladesh border...the treehouse is around seven-storey tall...so about 70-80 feet. Meghalaya is beautiful ❤

The word "Meghalaya" is composed of two Sanskrit words "Megha" meaning "clouds" and ''Aalaya'' meaning ''home'' literally meaning ''The land or home of clouds'' , 'cause it has regions and towns like Mawsynram (the town with the highest annual rainfall in the world).Well , that's also the reason of ''All the Greenery in the Scenery''.

It's the living root bridge... The roots are being trained by the locals to grow together and connect to one another until they form a bridge... This practice dates since olden days where science was not introduced yet... They make bridges like these to cross rivers or gorge...

There are so many hidden jewels in Meghalaya. The list is pretty extensive for such a small place. Best part it's still off the beaten path so it's less commercialised. And you can just rediscover yourself.

Trying to visit different places in India in a month even a couple of months is a big mistake. It is 3200 km from north to south and 2900 km from east to west. some of my acquaintances have tried and ended up travelling from point A to B instead of being able to soak up a scenery.
