If you’re looking for a generations sized G1 esque Megatron that still turns into a gun, I suggest getting Toy World Hegemon

Scalewise, they could pull it off - just ask that abysmal MP5 in relation to MP1 - but there's no amount of engineering that could make their tech work for it. It's *probably* why Robosen ain't bother with a proper transforming Bumblebee (but in his case, it's a matter of Bee's already smaller form factor). And between Devastation (uses the old Combiner Wars Leader class toy, maybe?), the WFC Trilogy, Robosen, and whatever they're gonna do for SS86, they're definitely tryna reshape things so that Tank Megs IS G1 Megs. Takara's only reinforcing it. The Legends manga that ran through their Legends line (from their equivalent of Theilling 30 all the way to the end of Titans Return, plus extras for Generations Selects Volcanicus, Generations Selects Super Megatron, Generations Selects Star Convoy, and the spinoff "End of G1" that came with MP48+ Dark Amber Leoprime - yes, Takara with their stylizing stuff as single words) had the LG version of CW Megs as G1 Megs...who got whooped but emerged from the wreckage as a Headmaster sized critter...only to have the Decepticon Headmasters build a Galvatron Transtector that the others had to save him from...and eventually gettin' to his LG65 G2 Tank Megatron Transtector. It's a wild ride, so...yeah. But all in all, even they're tryna hype G1 Megs is TANK. Now for the REAL work: I dare Hasbro & Takara to get together and not only cook up a Masterpiece Megatron 3.0 *THAT'S A TANK*... but also cook up another unique mold for a Masterpiece G2 Megatron!! (The repaint potential is nuts: Hasbro drops it first in the green & purple G2 deco we all know. Takara then repaints it blue, black, & purple as their G2 Megs (the Combat Hero one is the only one they got), with a straight up blue retool into Reverse Convoy/Rebirth Megatron from Robotmasters. Then they can backtrack to the first version and do it in green & dark green as Megastorm from Beast Wars II!)

The question that I have is that how were you counting Megatron the times that he was a tank? Because if it was form a general Megatron stand point you would be right, however if you are counting this by the times g1 Megatron has been a tank. Then you are not being fair at all to the whole alt mode argument.

I was looking at all the instances where Megatron's toys (only counting each individual mold once, so no repaints, etc) were either a gun or a tank. Whether a given alt mode was for G1 Megatron or not wasn't a factor since this was specifically aimed at the alt mode (rather than character depiction) argument. It's why I put Classics/Henkei Megatron in the gun group and counted Siege/Earthrise for the tank group, for example.
