Another great game like FUGA that I’m not going to be able to experience because I don’t throw money away for digital games. If digital games were significantly cheaper than their counterparts then I’d consider it but as it is now … I’m screwed. I’ll just miss out

The reason it has those mobile game battle pass quirks is because this is actually a compilation/remake of the first 2 megaton musashi games, the second of which was free to play. So they made the first game Megaton Musashi, then they made a free to play sequel called Megaton Musashi X(pronounced cross). Then they compiled the two game's contents and added more story and features on top to make Megaton Musashi W.

The walk around sections look like 13 sentinels minus the vanillaware art style (which admittedly is kinda a big minus)

Glad this one got reviewed! That current sale is very tempting. Might be my first Level-5 game. I was holding out for Decapolice!

It's such a good mecha game that deserves way more attention. It was worth at full price so for anyone on rhe fence because of the 50% discount, you should definitely grab it. It also has quite a lot of content.

I’m old enough where the word “Megaton” really takes me back to the gameFAQS NGG forum.

I'm not really into mechs but omg this game is FIRE. The combat is so good. I actually think this could be a fave for me 😅😅

A few clarifications. The battlepass and logins only gives you bonus resources that you earn normally in the game and the game is not stingy with them at all. You don't need to be online to use the battlepass, logins or daily achievements on the switch version which is great. There are no online only items in the game. There is a separate pvp only mode that has it's own completely separate profile and progression. The game has some dlc, but no microtransactions at all.

That character really looks like Tetsuo! Nice review, made me interested 😊

Great video. I've been playing Hot Blood. Even though I can finish it in a couple of hours, I still enjoy it the way I did when I played lollipop chainsaw

I picked this up on the steamdeck where it runs flawlessly. I’m tempted to get it on switch as well , it’s such a great game and glad you were able to shine a light on it

Picked up the deluxe edition largely on the strength of this review. Very happy with it so far, though the sheer range of options is a bit overwhelming. Love the music in the game, and it's pure hack and slash fun

I downloaded this when you first mentioned it the other day, and I’m scared to play it, because I have other games that I’m invested in and I know I’m going to drop them if I touch this 😂

With TV or movies I'll always go subs, but you're so right about being in the middle of combat and having to worry about whether the text coming up is necessary or not.

You mentioned this offhand on another video, so I checked it out and bought it and I have not been disappointed.

Well this popped up in my feed rather late, its nice to see people actually finding out about this game's existence since I've been a fan of this franchise for a couple of years and its sad that Level 5 doesn't really bother promoting their games in the west anymore this is a great little review of it and ill leave you with a fun fact! While the first 2 versions of this game were coming out, Level 5 was also producing an anime along side it that released in 2 seasons over the course of 2021 to 2023, the game fatefully recreates the story with both styles of cutscenes (the more visual novel ones and the actual anime used as cutscenes) and is in my opinion the better way to expirience the full story

I picked it up based on your short review and am loving it - if they added English dub sir or not, I'd like to be able to choose the Japanese or English version of the intro song

This looks pretty cool. I would buy it for $5 usd. ... would buy it full price today if they bothered to English dub it.

OMG!OMG! I could not wait for this review and bought it yesterday... and oh booooy is it a great game! It's like most of the mechs games I tried actually got good! Best mech game I've played In my 47years of life. I must ask two things: -Will there be a physical release? Because 18G is a bit of a chunk I'd love to shrink with a physical. -And... why did you have to mention Testuo from Akira? Now I won't be able to get it out of my head 😂

Would NEVER had looked twice at this on the eshop, but after watching this I’m going to take advantage of the sale and get it!

I thought that 'Walker Fusion Type' mech was something you created and named when I first saw it - haha - Looking forward to playing this, but defo avoiding that battlepass!

Excellent review! I am agreeing with most of it. Great game! For performances though, I would deduct 1 additional point as when like 4 medium size enemies are thrown at us, the game goes down to like 15fps, and it slowly gets better as we beat the enemies on screen. I would also deduct 1 point for the fact that we cannot sort items. We can filter but not sort, which makes us lose a considerable amount of time. They really need to add that in a next update!

You can, though? Just press the left trigger (or whatever equivalent depending on what platform you're playing - it's shown on the bottom right in the parts/weapon/mods/item lists) and you get sort options, like type, color, availability etc.

This game just came onto my radar im super pumped to play it.

I picked this up this week. Just couldn't say no to the mecha funsies at 50% off. I'm a total sucker for pretty much mecha anything and did not have a lot of will power to hold off on this one

It really is. OST is also is amazing. And the gameplay. It feels so great! Brilliant game. Thanks to your channel I’m just after the first mission. So far even the character and npc chats are fun!

This game rules! I bought it near launch time on eShop, I'm just getting around to it this past week. I'm about 8-10 hours in and I love it. It may be a little repetitive, but it does make you feel good and powerful. I think of it like part- Armored Core, and part-Diablo, since the game is high-octane mech battles, but the mechs you build are constructed of loot drop items, most of which offer cosmetic changes and incremental tweaks. The treasure-box passes and online play attractions are a little bit of a jarring 4th-wall break but it still offers me the feeling of participating in a super-robot anime series. Also, it simply wouldn't be a Level-5 3d-engine game if it didn't have wild layers of customization and gameplay tweaks to engage in. As Dark Cloud had town building and Rogue Galaxy had it's inventory-based skill trees, Musashi has it's loot drops, the motherboard, the lab dev skill tree, and pilot skill investments on top of everything else. Rich amounts of optional content to feed into a dozen different reward loops is par for the course for Level-5 especially in the Ni No Kuni games and Rogue Galaxy.

Sounds like the battle pass doesn't rob anything from the core game. Battle pass is a way to give extra support to a game you enjoy and get some cool things with it.

I saw this on the eShop for sale in 🇪🇺 (& Another French KZreadrs talk about this game for a very longtime now!) - My impression by the video i don't know why but this game remind me a lot Gundam Breaker series. I play GB series since the first one on PS Vita. And even the locking look the same. Maybe i should take before the last GB4 came out 😅 + i luv Level5 so it could be awesome even if i wait their new Fantasy Life too 😭

You are killing me with all this temptation! This looks right up my alley. It looks like if you mashed up Armoured Core, Front Mission and like maybe Dark Souls or more like Super Mega Hyper Bright Souls W: Wired?!

Been enjoying the hell outa this game. Love the gameplay and storytelling design. Level-5 cracked the code on how we could finally get a Macross game that covers all eras, mechs and story arcs.

They're fine. I saw the review on NL and while I agree the placement is a bit annoying it hasn't been a huge issue. Plus you have ABXY rear buttons that took about five minutes to learn. There's also a bonus A button just to the right (and left) of each joystick. Mark

Level-5 is one of my favourite studios. I've enjoyed most of their games so far

Level 5 is an excellent company. The Professor Layton games, Yokai Watch, Dark Cloud, Fantasy Life, they make so many great games!

Oddball question, but are you able to sheathe the weapons you’re carrying while you’re out in the field? Or is your mech constantly holding said weaponry, to the point that the weapons (like the dual swords) might as well have been directly connected to the arms of the mech?

Might come across like a nitpicky question, but I’ll answer it. Unlike Daemon X Machina, there’s no reason to sheathe any of the weapons you use in Megaton musashi. Megaton musashi is more of a fast paced mecha action game with the options of switching your weapon load outs on the fly during combat, like what you’d expect from a mecha action rpg. The weapons themselves don’t hinder the speed of your mech in regards to traversal compared to daemon x Machina.

Is this a good gateway mech game or is there something simpler as I played armoured core on the PS1 but I have a feeling they have moved on a bit since then ?

Game looks like great fun! If it wasn't for the shakey 30fps frame-rate dips during the most intense battles, I'd be on this asap. Instead I'll just wait until I can play a 60fps version in portable form.

Looks great but my backlog is already too massive. Adding it to my ever growing Wishlist.

This should've been heavily marketed on the Philippines. I think people would get a kick out of a playable Voltes V and Combattler V (even if it seems like they're only skins).
