@@joelimitsuandyoshi technically he's not a "maverick" per se, but the origin of of the original virus (dr wily), so he's a maniatical robot that carries the virus that goes into Sigma and generating the maverick virus we all know. That W you see in his gem glowing is perhaps the "restriction" that Dr. Wily built in him in order to restraing him from becoming a threat to anyone and anything surrounding him.

Apparently the "Gamma" Sigma refers to in the beginning was also built to a similar spec as Sigma but didn't get the "Lucky W" and unlucky virus at the same time. Zero was about to tear him to shreds. In the dream sequence scene of the X4 Zero intro, you see the head and face of an unknown reploid that looks similar to Sigma, I think that may be Gamma and if he had subdued Zero and gotten infected then we'd probably have Gamma as the main villain lol.

This moment is pretty sad when you think about it because it was at this moment that sigmas fate was sealed and is now destined to terrorize the planet he swore to protect for decades to come and will ultimately be put out of his misery by the very repliod who looked up to him

It was also the contribution of Dr. Light and X that all of this happened, because if reploids were not mass produced from X schematics, the virus may have just affected a small proportion, but it was spread within days around the globe. So yeah, it's sad for Sigma to be infected while punching Zero's crystal, but it is indirectly related to X's being "copied".

@@sirfrancischl while that is the case things might end being worse without x as zero would be found eventually and with how technology seemed to have barly progressed after light wilys death, nothing would have stopped him and we would likely get another timeline like in megaman worlds where a single robot managed to wipe out humanity, and with the virus being taken into account it could have caused technology to blackout across the globe, and since it wasn't until next generation repliods at the soonest for a form of immunity (which were based on x) and even later for the mother elf, it could have actually ended up much worse.

@@yaboiterumi1904 I always took it that when he was infected, instead of driving him insane it actually merged with his personality and DNA soul because he was designed to be maverick proof by Dr Cain, with the highest quality coding and circuitry which was why he was able to hold it off for a while and by using the virus he entered cyber space and infected repliods to his cause and get new bodies after they kept getting destroyed. So it was sigma but basically having an altered personality of skynet or megatron

This makes you question why anyone thought the original English dub did not sound dumb.

Y'know....a lot of anime characters should take notes from Sigma lmao so many anime fights would be won easily if you grabbed your opponent's arm and either throw them or break their arm.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the first and ONLY time we see Sigma LEGITIMATELY terrified (and with damn good reason)?

AFAIK Sigma was angry, terrified and outraged at his original death, because he thought Megaman X essentially destroyed the one chance for a Reploid Utopia. In MHX he's much more defiant, pretty much going "Its not over and it will never end, it has only begun." But otherwise... YES. And its especially darkly hilarious because Sigma spends half the fight just smirking and dodging like a cocky and arrogant shonen deuteragonist. This was easy, a milk run, and he had it handled. Then he gets serious after the mutual punch, gets the saber and gets cocky again, thinking he's gonna win for sure - I mean, its a Light Saber vs Pipe duel. Total rollercoaster

@@sr.favopossodeixarvaziosim4595 To be fair his Maverick Hunter X iteration was trying to reboot his villainous behavior as his own free will instead of fighting Zero forcing the Virus on him. Since we never got further than X1, we don't know if the old fight with Zero went any similarly other than him clearly not inflicting the eye scars (and we get a front row seat to X doing that instead of cutting back to his injury).

First, excellent redub. Second, its funny how it looks like Sigma has the upper hand at first, but if you pay attention, Sigma couldn't even damage or slow Zero down throughout the fight. Goes to show just how powerful Maverick Zero is.

And X had to deal with him in X5 after Zero had improved so much AND re-awakened as a Maverick again, if one of them becomes Maverick, truly, only the other one is capable of stopping the first, the rest of the hunters would be worthless.

Yep, Sigma is absolutely cocky at the start, barely taking it seriously. And this is not even Zero at 100%, Zero here was defective, berserk and unfinished by Dr. Wily. There's no buster use, no dash, no giga crush, no double jump. He can barely think and plan. This is literally Zero at 5-10% power, and he's essentially alternating between flailing like a madman and "psychopath torturing bugs". Zero in X1 was stronger than this, and he was still unfinished, only fixed by Dr. Cain and able to think and plan. Zero was only truly finished by X2 when Serges rebuilt his parts from the original design. Nevermind peak Zero in X4-X5, and then there's the REAL Maverick Zero. Sigma was THE maverick hunter, the most advanced reploid of his time... got gigarekt by Dr. Wily's century's old unfinished, haywire, broken vintage superweapon. This would be like, idk, Psycho Crackhead Captain America crushing J.C Denton, or RoboCop.

It's kinda wild that Sigma's Maverick virus started with breaking Zero's head crystal, and we have TWO bookends as a result. The X series games ended with a new villain breaking Axl's head crystal leaving god knows what as a result of that cliffhanger, and Zero himself finally put an end to the Virus in his series, leaving only free will as the only Mavericks left as it was before Sigma found him.

By GOD, this looks AMAZING! How were you able to up the quality and smoothen the old animation? I’ve seen something done similar to another MegaMan X4 Fandub, but I never figured out how they pulled off the crisp visuals.

Very nice quality. But I noticed this at 0:06. Very strange... When I first started fandubbing. I would watch how many times the characters move their lips before speaking.

BTW you really did awesome in making Sigma sound like a charismatic, brave commander! Tho I think in the final part when he returns totally broken, when he says ``Leave me!`` you should`ve tried making him sound a bit more...sinister, just a bit more villainous. Like, his voice being a bit more corrupted or sounding more disgruntled & distorted. Still that part was very well done too! You did a really good job!

I prefer how their feet clang on the ground in the original more. But still it’s so good to see this cutscene restored in beautiful HD quality

He was a maverick until he suffered that head injury at the end here. He remembers these maverick days and since he knows what it is like to be a maverick and hated being one he became brutal to mavericks and passed that on to X

That wasn't really his fault however, it's more the fault of Dr Wily and how he programmed Zero. Basically if you didn't know, Wily made Zero to basically be the world's strongest robot, but due to the limitations that his natural AI would have, Wily decided to basically make Zero the Avatar of an upgraded version of the Roboenza virus from Megaman 10 (the zero virus) it was basically meant to take full control of Zero and be turn him into an uncontrollable monster who only cares about killing his enemies, and listening to Dr Wily. However due to the fact that zero already had a personality of his own, when infused with the embodiment of the virus his mind just couldn't handle the two consciousnesses existing at the same time because they were constantly fighting over control of the body. That inner struggle is what causes the insane behaviour shown in this cutscene. So wily shortly before his death tried to remedy this issue by installing a patch in side Zero that would stop his regular mind and allow the virus to take over (becoming awakened Zero) however, the patch he installed was faulty and the only thing it did was stop him and give him severe headaches (which is what stopped him from killing Sigma) so technically Zero's not at fault for his actions here, rather the virus is.

@@thefollower2933 Yes. I'm well aware of Zero's origins. He was basically Dr. Wily's final retaliation when all else failed. And I know it wasn't his fault. But the existence of the Maverick Virus did give rise to the plague that ravaged the reploid population.

People say that Zero killing the cast doesn't make sense, yet they don't explain why it doesn't make sense. Just that it doesn't. xD Folks had mentioned that Wily died before he released Zero, but it makes me wonder why does Zero have dreams of Wily ordering Zero to kill his rival? Also robots live for a long time. I know they have a certain expiration, but you'd think there would be someone around Light when he was making X and Light specifically said he had no one to carry out his work or task. I haven't really heard Keiji offer anything that made more sense anyway. And of course, Light made X for a reason. Obviously it wasn't to combat Wily. Wily at this point was no longer a threat, and likely died from Zero, due to his instability. If Wily WAS around and still a threat, why would Light make a robot like X and then seal him away in a capsule? Doesn't make any sense for him to do that. I would think that Zero was too powerful for the main cast and killed them all, but Mega Man sacrifices himself to stop Zero. It only was strong enough to put him in stasis mode, where he's found way later by reploids and then reactivated, therefore causing Sigma and his team to go after him. In the OVA, nobody was even around Light when he was making X. Doesn't anyone find that strange? Mega Man, Roll, Beat, Rush, ect are all mysteriously gone while Light is working on his magnum opus. Light devoted all his time to make someone like X. He wanted someone who was sentient, but if Mega Man and the other robots WERE around, why not just upgrade them? X was never an upgraded robot, as it was shown that he was being built from scratch. The other robots were gone and it doesn't make sense for them to expire all around at the same time. Obviously something serious happened to them.

The nitpick I have with this, it isn’t Gamma like everyone keeps thinking it’s GARMA, changing it to gamma takes away the reference in the scene... though not many over this side of the ocean care about what the reference is anyway but for context Zero is based on Char Aznable or more specifically his character archetype and a moment of Char’s history was Betraying Garma and leading him to his death

Man, this is fucking insane

This was pretty good. Although I think some of the original sound effects could've been retained and remastered. Like the feet clanging ( the remake on this one is good too) and the punching sounds where Zeros punching at the air trying to hit Sigma. Otherwise pretty damn good. But man how i would kill to see a MEGAMAN X TV SERIES!!! With the same artwork used for the series but a little updated. Season 1could start off with MMX. Season 2, MMX2. Season 3 MMX3 and so forth. I personally wouldn't have minded if toriyama and his team or even funimation handled the production.
