I actually was at this show, it was wild! I think it was billed as Dave's Birthday party. I still have the newspaper clipping put up. Drank too much Jaeger, and got thrown out into a back alley with a bunch of other people. I crouched behind a door and when they tossed the next guy, I ducked under them and ran back in. They chased me until I got back into the crowd. Made it back up front for one of the best shows ever, then afterwards passed out on someone's car until my friends found me. I still have the green guitar pick from that night. I've played guitar for like 27 years, but that is the only pick I've never used. Thanks for all the music guys, we jam all the time at my house! ;)

Holy &$(*, I just found me, lol. At 46:40, a backstage camera zooms in on 2 girls in the front of the crowd. See the dude over their shoulder, wearing a Metallica T-shirt and waving his arm around like a fool? That is me, lol! Rocking my only-sat-in-California military haircut, my bangs were like 5 inches long. I was 19 at the time. Glad I found this, too freakin cool!! My 11 year old daughter is a huge Megafan and is also learning to play guitar. The curse lives on!! This made our day.

This lineup will always be the real Megadeth. It is tragic that Nick Menza had to leave the band in 1998 then Marty Friedman chose to leave two years later. Any hope for a reunion with this lineup died right along with Nick in 2016.

IIRC...This show was from a short warm up tour of the west coast just prior to joining the Painkiller Tour (Judas Priest, Megadeth, Testament). The shows were unannounced and billed under "Vic & The Rattleheads" The band hadn't toured in over two years and just completed recording Rust in Peace (which had not yet been released). This was Nick and Marty's first set of live shows playing with Megadeth. Other dates on this tour (from memory) were The Phoenix Theater - Petaluma, The Catalyst - Santa Cruz, The Wilson Theater - Fresno, Riverside Theater - Riverside, and others.... This was a very exciting time for the band; they were sober, incredibly focused, and on top of their game.

i notice one thing in watching these vault videos. Mustaine was on a different level. he was always busier than the other guys. Marty, nick and Dave E. were usually goofing around and being silly or lighthearted, which is totally cool. I get it, Ive been in bands for most of my life and the guy with the most responsibility is always more serious and busy. I love these videos and I think this was always his best lineup. Ive always heard that Mustaine was really cool and also that he was a jerk but I understand that he is probably really cool in personal life but he's got a business that hes responsible for so he needs to have an edge.

I believe it was one of the first if not the very first live concert for the Rust In Peace lineup together. You can definitely hear there excitement and get the feeling they had something to prove as a band that night. Wonderful energy for the whole concert

I got to see them on this tour and count down to extinction tour...not sure if i saw them again until the 20th anniversary of Rust in Peace and then got to see them on the Dystopia tour. Great shows. I got to witness one of Dave's rants where he stormed off stage and then came back out and ranted. It was awesome! lol. \m/

Why is it ironic to people when someone in a Megadeth video or concert wears a Metallica or Slayer shirt? Just because the bands didn't get along? Their fan bases are the same, it makes perfect sense.
