    Yet another nostalgic trip for me. In early 2016, the hotel company I worked for transferred me from Berkshire to their property in Aviemore. There as a resident and being over 60 years old, I qualified for my Scottish Entitlement card, which allowed me free travel on all Citylink / Megabus services across Scotland. These services linking Aviemore to Inverness were far quicker than the local bus services, and on the intercity services, they matched the train times, but at a fraction of the costs. The A9 route as covered on here is a really spectacular route to drive on, with such a broad range of views, made more memorable in wintry conditions and with snow on the hills and mountain peaks. I see some of the sections being built when I was there are now complete and all the better for drivers as it used to be a really awful road years ago. Thank you for yet another superb video.

    An absolutely beautiful trip through The Highlands, enjoyed every km of it! Visited the area in 2017 and drove on some sections on this road, but it was still a pleasure to admire it again, sitting on my couch. Thanks for sharing it!

    At 08.02 the idiot in the red van is in an acceleration lane where he should build his speed up to that of the traffic on the A9. His dithering caused the coach to slow and lose speed which he won't get back because he's on a steep hill, so please be aware of other traffic and get up to speed before entering the dual carriageway.

  • @iainjones5002

    @iainjones5002

    Having travelled on that route, it's a long steep climb out of Inverness for road traffic, but the road entering from the junction has an extra long lane designed to allow emerging motorists to build up speed to match the main two lanes. Sadly, some drivers don't get the message! That van driver just got in the way and brought the coach speed down drastically. On occasions I knew of coach drivers moving into the outside lane well before that junction "just in case" that type of incident occurred, allowing them to maintain maximum speed up that long drag.

    As a former coach driver I became resigned to this sort of thing. It happens so often. Did you notice that clown actually sticks his hand out as if to say 'thank you'? He had ample opportunity in that entry lane to gauge his speed but his concentration was obviously not on his driving.

    This acceleration lane is not very long and before this, there is a difficult junction and a 90 degrees turn to access this acceleration lane. Sometimes a driver on this lane needs to think twice when seeing another car on the inner lane as could be unsure to be able build up a sufficient speed on time entering a carriage way. It's just a tricky bit of a road. I can also guess that this small van is old with not enough power.

    It's a long, long road the A9 between Inverness & Perth. Over 100 miles between the roundabout just outside Perth to the capital of the Highlands. All the lay-bys are numbered though there's well over 120 of them. So', if you were unfortunate enough to run into difficulties & were forced to pull over it's important that you can quote the lay-by number helps them get to you all the quicker.

    Greetings from America, specifically the environs of Chicago, here in the vast interior of the United States. We have Megabus in America, but I have never tried it up to this point. After enjoying several of your videos I am definitely going to do so. Thanks for any number of wonderful videos of a part of the world that I don't know if or when I'll be able to visit in person. These trips give a view of the towns and cities, and the countryside that a ticket on British Airways or be United Airlines never will. One question: do you have any trip plans for Ireland, or through out the rest of Europe? Ohh, feel welcome to come here to the states if you're considering doing any trip videos in the U.S. I'm sure that they'll show us in a good way!
