MEGA IMAGING! How I set mine up for big catfish!

Спорт

I've had a lot of people ask me about various settings on my Humminbird Helix Mega and how those settings help me locate big catfish. In todays video I will walk you through all my settings I use to find and catch those river monsters.

    Excellent Information on your Video. I have been so busy playing games with the military for the past 33 years and wife is getting ready to retire in the UN LIKED STATE OF CALIFORNIA and we are Moving to Texas hopefully within the next 3 months. I do not have a fish finder or a boat and never have had one, BUT... I am moving to Texas within hopefully the next 100 days and I still have to tell the wife what she is getting me for Christmas. ( A 1448 Jon Boat and a few toys to go with it) I have been doing research and trying to learn things in advance to help me decide what to Get and how to play with it after I get it. Your video is really helping me lean what things look like etc... Thanks for the help and the easy to understand and follow instructions... The best video so far I have found when it comes to using a Fish Finder... I have subscribed..

    I do not have a fish finder, or even a boat yet but still researching... Do you have to pay extra for GPS on a fish finder and for maps? Maybe I am not using the right terminology But like if I want to mark a spot to come back to or if I want to know exactly were I am on GPS is that a extra charge or is it included with the fish finders. I am still researching on what to get for later.

    CatFish 911 when you buy a unit you’ll need a navionics card or lake master card for it. Lake master only works for humminbird units. After that there’s no more cost, no monthly fees if that’s what you mean.

    Jessie Barrington catfish on 2D sonar will have a 3/4 arch with a hard hit on the head because of the bone density. However we don’t know what they will eat until we try giving them some bait.

    You will need to go into settings (menu twice on any screen) go all the way over 2nd from right I think. In that column you’ll see a setting that says user mode. Depending on when you bought that unit it will say either advanced mode or custom mode. Turn that on. Then go to the bottom of that column and you’ll see chirp configuration. Select 2D and turn that off. Now your unit will read 200khz or 83khz.

  • @Jason-ej4cz
    @Jason-ej4cz5 жыл бұрын

    Why do you turn off chirp on sonar? I have a helix 12 mega so kind of interested in the benefits.

  • @BackwoodsCatfishing

    @BackwoodsCatfishing

    5 жыл бұрын

    Jason I turn chirp off because with chirp I can’t see arch details. With catfish they display a very specific arch return. If I had that on I could mistake stripe, carp, or gar because they would all look similar.

    Humminbirds are great until something goes wrong with the unit, they will promise you the world and do nothing. I had the unit a couple months only, I sent the unit in for repair or replacement months ago, I guess I am out the money spent on it and will never see it again. So be careful what you buy and who you buy from.
