    If you core the cabbages and freeze the entire head for 5 hours or so, you can take them out of freezer, thaw them and then peel off the leaves. You won’t need to precook them and they will peel,off and be flexible, saving you a step. 💕

    I was taught in Home Ec to always crack my eggs into a dish before putting it in my recipe. Of course my Home Ec days were over 50 years ago and I would guess even the store bought eggs could have been questionable 😂😂😂😂. I still do it to this day. Old habits are hard to break

  • @virginiamesko6369

    @virginiamesko6369

    The reasons for not cracking an egg directly into what you are cooking, is so you can catch any bits of shell or blood spots that might be in the eggs. If you have added a blooded egg into a cake mix, for instance, you will have ruined the entire mix. If you check it on the side you can just pitch the egg out and your mix is still usable.

This will go down extremely well with my family and in the not too distant future my husband and I are going to stay a few days with my son and ‘bonus daughter’. My big 48yr old, Padre RAF, has recently been diagnosed as gluten intolerant so when I’m being Mama in his house I’m goin to do that cabbage lasagna. My son is a good cook, makes his own gluten free bread and he will enjoy a bit of cooking with me:). He can steer me in the right direction re his gluten free journey. I "plank" zucchini and butternut squash on my madeline and cut onion plank rounds then roast. I use the vegetable planks in place of noodles in mixed layers. It is the #1 requested dish from my family. Note: you have to roast the vegetables before layering otherwise the "lasagna" is too too too watery.

I made manicotti (thanks to you ground up some cooked chicken, along with some cooked spinach and mushrooms I needed to use up and added it to the cheese stuffing!) didn't boil the noodles first, it turned out very tasty! The trick I learned is if you have enough liquid/sauce covering them, it turns out great!! I had leftover so I stuffed 3 more uncooked shells and put them in the freezer, it's just me and my husband so 3 is plenty if 1 of us needs a quick bite. I imagine they will turn out just fine as well! Give it a try beautiful, simplify your life even more!! Thanks for sharing your videos!! Stay warm and blessed Much love from the Minnesota tundra! Hi! I’ve never used cottage cheese in a lasagna. But I’ve seen it it been used before in videos from USA. I make mine similar with the noodles (pasta plates) and minced meat sauce however I make my cheese sauce with bechamele sauce that I put a lot of grated cheese in to. So when the cheese has melts I have a wonderful sauce. I make my bechamel sauce by melting butter in a pot, then whisk that with flour until it is like a thick saucy paste almost. Then I add milk (or even a little cream if I feel like it) a little at a time and whisk it all the time so nothing burns in the bottom of my pot. I let boil together and thicken to my liking. Then I add some salt, a pinch of sugar, white or black pepper and some nutmeg. After that I put in as much or as little cheese as I feel like. It’s usually a lot. If it gets too thick add more milk. I let it all melt and mix together. Otherwise my assembly of the lasagna is the same as yours.

    I also use cut cabbage instead of spaghetti as well. Mix it in with a lettuce salad,aswell as soups. I am also on a low carb diet for diabetis. Love the show

    Jamerrill this video was great. I love your lasagna because you use smaller amounts of sauce and many layers of pasta. We Italian's make it this way....the star of the show is always the pasta, not the sauce or cheese....although the cheese topping is the best bit 🤭 Another tip to get off permanent marker pen is to spray hairspray on it. It should just wipe right off. God bless you and your beautiful family. Paula in the UK 🇬🇧

    I always use my lasagna noodles dry & add a bit of water at the end. Then I bake, cool, refrigerate overnight, cut into single servings, wrap and freeze. Then I just thaw on the counter and heat in the microwave. But I'm a household of 1.

    My favorite lasagna is butternut squash as the "tomato and meat" layer, the "cheese" layer is a white beschamel with fresh basil and then mozarella/parmesan layer. I am making it for New Years Eve dinner!!

    Just a quick comment to say that i always make my freezer lasagnes with uncooked pasta sheets and they come out just fine. Cook as normal - make the freezer meals exactly as you are doing so with the cooked pasta and turns out exactly the same and saves a step! all about that! :)

    Jamerill, please try using regular lasagna noodles dry, without cooking the noodles. You only need to add a bit more water or tomato juice before wrapping for the freezer. I usually make several at a time. Put one in fridge to eat next day and rest in the freezer. I do not add cheese until halfway baked as we do no like our cheese too brown. We love this. I am kinda known for my lasagna. A pan went for $150 at a church Lord Portion sale!

    I love HOP pastas! They are the best thing I’ve found that’s a true past fake-out in texture and taste…they take on the flavors of the ingredients. They also don’t sit heavy in my belly like regular pasta does.

    Pizza lasagna! My favorite is made with layers of Supreme pizza toppings, but the pepperoni one is great as well. Starting making this years ago when my hubby had his teeth pulled for dentures and he couldn't eat regular pizza. Huge family favorite! I've made it with lasagna noodles and with zucchini slices. Next I'm trying your cabbage one.
