Brings my blood to a boil.discernment is truly a gift from God. if iever got hundreds of thousands of subs id ask Abba what did i do wrong? Satan doesnt boost Grace teachers unless they're manipulating people into clicking. but you add demon slayer or chosen one and y ou're raking in massive views.. clickbait thumbnail and title to manipulate people to click.. all my favorite teachers like "truth speller" and brother "destroying the works of the devil" have combined less than 2k. they dont care about subs or likes or any of that nonsense which is a breath of fresh air to say the least. if you really want some edification sister check them out (Truth Speller / Destroying the works of the devil)

    I think that the "TED talk sermon" sort of became a trend because certain churches began using the more down-to-earth style of sermons in these engaging month-long series, and they saw extreme growth, and other pastors saw this and thought "ooh! I can be marketable and trendy and get church attendance!" The original model of these sermons was more of a "how can I get closer to God and cut out distractions in my life?" but then these people who copied this model warped it into a "How can we use God to make ourselves better?" and removed all conviction because they think its too scary. I do appreciate this more down-to-earth style of sermons and the monthly series, but I like when they tie the series to certain books in the bible and thus challenge you to read it more (as opposed to taking random out-of-context verses), and then they should also challenge you to get into the community and serve more. Being a Christian is a lifestyle and not an aesthetic. From where I see it, there are three different models of having a relationship with God. First is the "prescription pill" model. It isn't something you enjoy doing, but it's just an obligation that you feel you have to do. Just like you hope a pill will prevent a certain sickness, you hope that going to church once a week will save you from hell. It's lifeless. Just like the legalistic preachers. The second model is the get-fit-quick instant meal model where you think that if you follow God you'll get all these benefits, and its sold as a sort of miracle food that will instantly make your life so much easier. But when it turns out that that's not true people become confused and frustrated. It's like these prosperity preachers, they package Jesus like a box of Lean Cuisine and give people a false idea of him. The third model is the diet and exercise model, this model takes dedication and you have to be consistent, and at times you might not enjoy it, and it may seem like years until you make any progress, but it's worth it. And eventually, you'll come to view it as an essential part of your life. This is the ideal relationship with Christ. It ain't easy, but it's more than worth it.

    I’m so glad you mentioned how the church refuses to talk about hell or end times simply because it makes people feel uncomfortable. This is one of my biggest problems in today’s culture. We love to say that God doesn’t want people to come to him though fear, which is probably not his preference, but he loves us desperately and if it means being uncomfortable or even afraid for a short period of time so we can spend Eternity with him I don’t think he minds.

    See that's the thing. If you follow the instructions given to us in the Bible, you will live a better life. But it won't necessarily be extremely prosperous financially or any of the other ways that many prosperity preachers present. But that should be just a side benefit to the fact that get to have a relationship with the creator of the universe and live a life that is pleasing to Him.

    I don't think any of us know what we actually may become. Seek Ye first the Kingdom and His righteousness and all of these things will be added unto you isn't a guarantee of anything other than God will take care of us. some may become financially well off, some may not. Some may experience divine healing, some may not. There is no cookie cutter Christian. We are what God decides we are. We have what God decides we will have. we are only anything at all if it serves to Glorify God! The only thing we have to concern ourselves with is seeking His Kingdom first, and seeking His righteousness!! I just want God to use me as he sees fit. When I decided to surrender myself to him I meant it. I surrendered it all, and I ask God daily to reveal anything that I may need to surrender still. This is not a boast in the things I am doing. No way. I only want to boast in what God can do, and what He can do I will place no limits on. That being said, what he may do for me may not in anyway be what he does for you, or anyone else. All we need to be concerned about is God. Period. End of story. If you get to be rich, well then Glory to God. If I get to remain middle class, well then Glory to God. In all things, and in everything we do, let's give Glory to God!

When they don’t teach of Christ, their not speaking truth but enticing lies that are twisted truths of scripture. And those who are anchored in truth are called to preserved and protect the truth that has been given to us by Gods word! “Christianity is about making people happy!” But Jesus said and did so many controversial things that made people want to kill him. “Christianity is about being wealthy and prosperous!” But not even the Son of God had any riches to their name on Earth and lived as a nomad. “Christianity is a call only of the worthy” But Jesus sought out the destitute and rejected; like the Samaritan woman, the Caananite mother, and the thief on the cross. *If your life is not being modelled after the character of Christ, then He is not your Lord.*

    So we should give up all we have and go and disciple to the nations? What are you doing here on the internet? Should Abraham have given up his wealth? How about Joseph, should he have stepped down from his position? God doesn't want us to be happy? What about Philippians 4:4 "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" clearly he wants us to be happy and rejoice in him. Because Jesus said some things that were controversial and made others want to kill him doesn't mean he didn't want them to be happy. If he didn't care about happiness then why did he cast out demons? Why heal the sick? Why die for our sins for eternal life with God? I agree with the third point, but the real purpose is that God wants, not just the destitute or the prosperous. You would have a hard time explaining some of these verses: Proverbs 16:20 (NIV): "Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord." Psalm 37:4 (NIV): "Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." 1 Timothy 6:6: "But godliness with contentment is great gain." Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." I will give you this. There is a stipulation here, that is to seek out God first in your life and the rest will follow. Matthew 6:30-33 "30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you-you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

    @@ianthompson31 Being disciples of all nations involves different things for many people. For most people, they're already in a place of the world where they can serve God as God and His church are everywhere. Some are called to go elsewhere for a short while, a long while, or even a lifetime. I never suggested that everyone relocating somewhere else was required to follow Jesus, so I'm not sure why your argument started with that point. If anything, that's an example of an stawman; making a loosely related but separate argument to my original point, putting that down, then claiming you won the argument.

  • @ianthompson31

    @ianthompson31

    You argued for the character of Christ. Was not dropping all you have and spreading the faith part of his character, and something he asked the apostles to do? How is that a straw man? How about the fact that I spoke directly to your other two points? Are those also straw men? I never claimed to win the argument, I simply presented my side and all you did was try to attack my side as a straw man. I think I gave plenty of evidence for my side.

    @@ianthompson31 There’s a difference between being a disciple as a missionary and being a disciple where you currently are. Can people not serve God and do His will where they currently are? Didn’t most prophets do this as well? And for the apostles in particular, they were especially called to be missionaries because the Gospel needed to spread beyond Israel. But no. Not everyone is called to be a missionary. Many are called to serve God exactly where they are, because where they are is also one of the nations God called for His disciples to be.

"Some people say that we were drowning in the ocean Barely floating until God threw us the rope then Our free will helped us as we groped Our faith is the hand that grabbed the rope and God put us back in the boat Nope! Without apology I deny that analogy Reality- we were dead at the bottom of the sea I was a swollen corpse with hope no more Until Jehovah the LORD dove from the shore to the ocean floor Yeah, I was a corpse and I smelled like it I’ll keep it simple, why did God choose me? I belive for the prosperity Gosepl you have to define what that means cause how I see it I do belve God wants to blesss his children. I think some churches miss the next part here where we are blessed to be a blessing. So that means we are to not just chase after Gods blessings for only ourselves because that does not please God and neither will it please us for more than a short period of time. That is why it always feels so good to give as for myself I enjoy that way more than receiving but I am of course grateful for what I do get. We are called to use the blessings God has provided us to expand his kingdom whether that be through building more churches or Christian schools to get people to know about Christ or it could be through starting up ministry work such as youth buildings or buying a bunch of food and handing it out to the homeless and ministering to them. All of these things and so much more can we do with the prosperity God has for us and in turn we are able to be lights in peoples lives that they might get to know Gods love through us and our actions and all of these things that only God’s blessings could allow for(at the very least make it way easier) That truly what I believe the prosperity gospel is about. Also yes God does just love blessings his kids for the sake of it and there is nothing wrong with that. We have a problem when people get selfish and or start bragging about it and not using it to glorify God and advanced his kingdom.

    Can I just recommend an excellent novel on this subject? "And the shofar blew" by Francine Rivers, about a young pastor who's called to pastor a church and turns it into, well, something else. I think of that novel every time I see a prosperity gospel guy in a suit on a stage.

    2:08 what is our lack of ability to hold on to God's commandments? Even the NT doesn't think we lack the ability to hold on to God's commandments, otherwise it won't contain verses like 1 Cor. 10:12; 10:4-5; 9:27; 6:9-10; Gal. 5: 19-21; And a lot more.

    Great video. If they spoke the actual truth of the gospel, then there would be lots of empty seats at church, which is what they don’t want. God is sovereign over all. These pastors are fulfilling 2Timothy 4:3-4.

    5:17 all well and good from a theoretical perspective but very impractical to do that while driving for example. Thats why church attendance is dwindling, lack of support for each other. Its way easier to say “I’ll pray for you” and move on rather than “let’s see how we can help this person”

    God's glory certainly does show through us, but it may not be in ways we would expect. It doesn't always mean being rich or massively successful. It might be a rather subtle thing - a quiet confidence, the ability to forgive, or even just being less horrible than what we were before. The change will be far more visible after this life.

Also, taking advantage of their fame and image by putting it as your clickbait. You can give your opinion and do a video about what is wrong and right for you, but this is not the way to do it. Steven Furtick is openly ANTI prosperity gospel, and if you actually listen to his messages, he is very pro exalting God. God wants us to be blessed and to prosper here on earth, and YES OBVIOUSLY Christianity is to exalt God and to praise his name and to spread the "good news", but at the same time, think of people like David, who was obedient, and because of that- became king of Israel. He obviously suffered greatly, but throughout scripture, obedience is rewarded.

    See this is a part of the issue. The gospel isn't just about God. It's about God and man. The focal point of the gospel is that God made man to be like Him, main failed and became separated from God, God came in the form of man to redeem man back to God and to make him one with Him. The ultimate purpose of Christianity, the ultimate purpose of the Gospel is that we know Him. All that God has done from the creation and even unto Revelation even in the essence of Hell; it is all for us to know Him.
