MEGHAN Markle was compared to Wallis Simpson by a senior royal because she hates her sister-in-law and wants to be a star, an expert has said.
Prince Philip allegedly drew comparisons between the Duchess of Sussex and the American socialite wife of King Edward VIII.
Philip is said to have nicknamed Meghan "D.O.W" in a nod to Wallis' Duchess of Windsor title after she wed Edward in 1937.
Their relationship ultimately led to Edward's abdication a year earlier, plunging the Royal Family into chaos.
Speaking to The Sun's Royal Exclusive show, Historian Gareth Russell revealed why such comparisons have been made between the two.

As an American mixed race woman, I have great respect for the working Royals and am appalled by the deliberate damage the Sussexes have done and will continue to do. To me, the most regal photo of Queen Elizabeth showed her as a teenager when the Royal family stayed in London during the Blitz. She's dressed in coveralls as she works on repairing a truck engine. Too right, I have a foot in Oz and UK, so can speak on behalf of some of the Commonwealth. A lot of folks feel the same, and actually like/love our Monarchy. It's not a Republic here yet (I hope it never is, I love our Royal family, like my ancestors before me). Our strength and stay, a constant, as loved ones leave us the Monarchy endures, and is something you have had in your life your whole life. Sort of a comfort in that. I find I'm so loyal to the working Royals, who carry themselves with integrity (at least for show anyway). They do represent the Commonwealth, get paid well, so we want good role models as Monarchs.
There could never be a rivalry here, because in the first place, Princess Catherine would need a worthy competitor. Catherine is the real deal, winning handily in every conceivable category without even trying.

I wish you had asked the Historian what he thought about Meghan’s treatment of Prince Harry. Like the way she pushes herself in front all the time, talks a load of word salad and definitely does not behave with the decorum that we Brits expect of our Royal Family. I don’t believe it was a successful tour, mainly because of Meghan’s behaviour and lack of thought about how she presents herself - Kardashion springs to mind!

They were paid 1 million tax free (per Paula M's diplomatic corps contact) IMO because Harry's convinced Commonwealth countries that Invictus is his organization when his only responsibilities as patron were to be a cheerleader before the event and an emcee during. He was also thrown off the Board last October and knows that Invictus will finally sever ties with him after Invictus England. As for Meghan, I was shocked that she knew nothing about the culture and etiquette of the country.

what a fascinating guest- I so agree with his view that Catherine is playing the long game. people don't give her enough credit because she is not necessarily up front . She is working quietly in the background, which is why people love her - they see how genuine she is. we all miss her and hope she returns soon because the RF needs her. If you mean sour grapes of a woman who came into the RF as someone with a divorce under her belt, a family she was so embarrassed by, they were not even allowed at the wedding and a strange track record with friendships, adding to the sketchy situation regarding this woman. Conversely, we have the Princess of Wales who came into the RF, having come from a close knit family, no sketchy background to have to coverup. Apples and oranges.

My understanding the British press was not invited. Only People magazine who are very friendly to them. They brought their personal photographer, so not a lot of scrutiny it was set up for favorable coverage. I think they should do whatever they want but as always they come off as propagandist, and very controlling.
Nicely balanced discussion with no invective towards any of the RF. Refreshing
King Charles is incredibly sad about Harry but he has to be strong for the rest of his family. I totally get that he has to keep his distance from treachery.
Kudos for having this guest! He appears to be very knowledgeable, and he was extremely interesting!
Please have this man back again. It was fascinating hearing history from his perspective.

This guest seemed balanced and fair in his view. This was a refreshing change.
Meghan and Harry's trip to Nigeria is like the Windsors trip to Germany. In both cases, each acted like official representatives and working royals. Also, both hosts used HRH to address them. Both were unacceptable and trying to set up a rival royal family.

The Duke of Windsor never had his HRH removed, but it was a major issue for him that his brother, then King George, and later his niece, Queen Elizabeth II, refused to grant Wallis an HRH.

The ironic thing about Megan, she had some of the most expert staff to instruct her and to dress her in clothes that fit her well. She could have had her own kind of royal look, not a copycat. Her assistants were some of the most talented and experienced, but instead of grabbing the opportunity with gratitude and grace, she abused them. If that's how she acts in public, I can't imagine what Harry's life is like. She often walked ahead of him on the Nigerian tour, no clinging onto him unless she had to pull him away from something that held a low priority for her. She insists that her self-promoting perceptions are real even in the face of definite proof to the opposite. For some reason I'm temped to say "The emperor has no clothes" but in her case it's, "The empress has no appropriate clothing".
Whatever! Megan makes Wallace Simpson look like Queen Mary!! Also, Wallace gets a bad reputation. Edward Vlll was a brat and should bare the lions share of the blame.

That woman is not a rival of Catherine, Princess of Wales. To be a rival, you must be at a similar level like those tennis players who compete in Wimbledon or athletes in the Olympics. That woman is not anywhere near the caliber of Catherine. She is wonderful in every way and a true asset to the RF, the UK, its people, the Commonwealth and in fact the larger world.
I truly believe that the Harry we have today is just as dangerous and capable of inflicting injury as Henry I in 1100. So is his wife MM. She is on record saying "we're only one plane crash from the throne." Harry has so much envy of his brother, and vitriol toward his familly, which makes him dangerous and volatile. He could do anything. Prince William is a good, kind man wirh his heart in the right place, as is his wife Princess Catherine. The Wales family need to be PROTECTED.

In my humble opinion, there's no way for Harry to return to the working royal fold. Too many very serious lines were crossed. Prince William's reputation is intact. This sh*tshow is on Harry. I disagree that the current media 'war' is worse than how royal family feuds were resolved in the past. Here are a couple of words associated with these - unexpected sudden deaths, being poisoned, war of the Roses, Tower of London, being exiled to France...

From a USA Yank: I would LOVE to see H&M stripped of ALL titles except his Highness (Prince) title, thus, M would become Princess Henry (as his wife). Just remember, we don’t have a Royal Family in the U.S., nor do we want one. A “Royal Tour” in the U.S. would be a laughingstock.
If the Queen Mother was alive today she would have plenty of harsh criticism to dole out to Harry and MM regarding their roguish inappropriate behavior, and unlike QEII she would not hold back telling them exactly how she felt.
There is old world charm and dignity to this presentation... Graceful matter of fact.
