18.09.2022 Which tradition or culture is used in a mixed marriage? I hold the view that no one should be compelled to uphold traditions or culture of the other in any mixed marriage. I personally object to being subjected to traditions like having to pay dowry or lobola. Why should one pay for his bride or wife? Tradition is doing certain things because others did them or still do them. Most traditions are connected to ancestral spirits and evil covenants. I am not a traditionalist because many so- called traditionalists have failed to explain why I should uphold certain traditions apart from saying "it's our tradition!". Lobola is meaningless and should be outlawed in Zambia. Read and learn what happened to Laban in the Bible. . .Laban was forced to do the right thing at the end i.e. bless his daughters and the marriage.

Glad we are able to help...I don’t even know if we are allowed to show some of that👀🤫🤫
The girls looks just like their dad and the son looks like his mom…such a beautiful family. Thanks for sharing your journey, you guys are the perfect couple with such polite children..God bless your family and relationship/marriage 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽❤️
This goes somewhat exactly like ours in western Uganda except its animals instead of cash. The having kids out of "wedlock" z also considered a massive bad so an extra animal or 2 or more depending on the family. African cultures are so intertwined. Similarly we also use representatives on both sides of the family. Love this video a whole lot
Gal, never be apologetic about your culture. The Indians and Israelites have progressed because of upholding their cultures. The British recently buried their Queen culturally. Africans should also carry their cultures into modernity!!!!
This has a lot of similarities to some Asian cultures. Very beautiful and respectful ❤️
❤. I bet her family was very impressed with your raw honesty, wisdom to rectify the situation and especially the love you have for their daughter/niece/cousin/granddaughter/etc.
I’m so happy your family excepted! You two were meant to be together!
This is the same even in Kenya, at least I can talk about my tribe. You pay even more if you have a son or sons. Looks like our traditions have some sort of similarities. Your family seems humble. This was fun to watch.
I am so glad he did the right thing

This was so artistic, creative and beautiful, by this time I had watched the lobola video already. All the best dearests 👏👏👏💜❤️💙
Very much like in South Africa too the whole lebola negotiations. From paying for damages, having a family rep or so to the negotiations.

I’m Zimbabwean and as a new generation Zimbabwean there’s a lot about our culture that’s lost to me. So watching this helped cause I can see some similarities between your culture and ours so I imagine that the idea is the same. Thank you for sharing ❤

Panashe joy I am surprised how can it be lost to you?? Did your parents not bring you up with your culture? My mother is a shona from Zimbabwe but my dad is a Zambian. I noticed that there were a lot of similarities between us and it is beautiful to see.

@@kasikwagoma6740 well, my dad is more of a modern man. My mother does teach me about our culture but aspects such as these are a bit uncomfortable to ask about so finding out about them online is a blessing. And my parents are separated so the things concerning my tribe and how we do things are ‘lost’ with my dad. My mum may not have enough knowledge on them.
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 that was unexpectedly beautiful. The final note 📝

good Culture should be upheld. It shows your roots and thus one cannot get lost no matter where you are on this world. I respect your husband's decision to respect it coze it means he love and respects who you are, the importance of you and your children being attached to your family and to have a relationship with your family. I pray that God also forgave him for not going in the right channel at first as even your family forgave him and enjoy life to the fullest .it's nice to see your on family happy

My brother Is marrying this lovely lady from Albania I can imagine what he had to do was kinda similar lolol
I am confused, isn’t a dowry paid in the beginning? Or different cultures pay it at different times?

Should be before marriage but they had kids before making everything official. That is why they were fined 'damages' for not following proper procedures.

He impregenated her before going to pay dowry. That means it can be paid later.
I love everyone in this video but yes I don't know what to think. I'm glad it worked out. It's the money. Not the begging, not the apology, not your Dad deserving respect, it's the money. It's hard enough to feed your family in this world. I'm sure I will get fussed at but I would have accepted everything but the money. I guess I need to be schooled on the subject but my mind always goes to "that's taking things from the grandchildren that they may need"
@noziqu7728
Жыл бұрын
Let me say this money is not that important to African culture. This custom is about respect for the girl's family and the protection of the woman. Paying Dowry is a sign/or a proof on the man's side to the bride's father that I will treat and cherish your daughter as you have done. That is a groom's pledge. Also the dowry is never paid up in full because if you mistreat the woman and run back home you will be penalized and pay more for breaking your vows. That is why marriages were strong no man was changing women like he changes his under wear. Man already know they do not have money to be throwing for all the Lobolas (dowry) and they keep well the woman they have chosen. Another thing it is a diisgrace/taboo to a family to loose her virginity without bride's price that is why a man was expected to pay damages for pregnanting a woman. It is a way culture was preventing fatherless babies. Lastly, may I say we Bantu are the true Israelites and we follow the customs and laws in terms of marriages and circumcision. It is all about Respect and Respect and Respect within the Black African household and we do not need the West to teach us. If you do not roll with it do not join it. Africans do not embrace a woman to have children by many different man is a DISGRACE and ABOMINATION.

He gives money to the girls family to show them that he is capable of taking care of their daughter it's not about the parents receiving money

If giving lobola puts the well-being of the grandkids at risk, then you cannot afford a family to begin with and should not be pursuing marriage. Wait and work until you are financially stable.
