I actually like that Lewis wasn’t thinking of his future but Goob’s future as well, and was able to have the chance to save him from having a messed up future.

Agree, in some movies they would’ve just go “well it’s goob’s own fault as an adult, Lewis had a bad orphan life and he didn’t end up as a villain” or “can’t help everyone” but in this movie they go “no, this child has gone through enough and deserves a happy ending too”. It’s actually sad now that I think about it how often child “antagonistic” characters are left to rot in despair.

Honestly this little time of this movie is one of my most favorites. In my opinion its one of the most heartwarming scenes, after seeing how that guy was petty and wasn't actually evil. Sure of course people would say that you are at fault. Which i wont lie it sorta is. But at the same time some things are incredibly hard to overcome. The way he was portrayed was funny, i wont lie. But it was also sorta sad to see people consumed by hatred. When in the end they realise that they are in a wrong and they dont have a path because of that hatred. @@sapphicwriter

The movie is based on the children's book "A Day With Wilbur Robinson" by William Joyce. Kudos to Disney for recognising that it would make a great movie and bringing it to life, but really the credit should go to author Mr Joyce for his wonderful imagination and heart.

This makes me so emotional everytime I watch the movie. Also an underrated moment: when Future Frannie tells Lewis that she's always right, you first think it's just a cheesy "The Wife is always right in the relationship" joke, but it's actually about how Cornelius was the only one who always believed in her weird frog music ideas. So wholesome

Yet another excellent subversion of expectations for the movie. It was presented as the usual "Haha the wife is always right" joke, but really it was her saying "I was right about my scientific theory all along, and you were the one who got me to keep at it to prove myself, which is why I fell in love with you"

But what we can change is our future. We just have to "Keep Moving Forward." We can't focus on what's behind us we have to look ahead.

Yep, and I also love how the final scene is not of the far far future for Lewis when he’s an adult but instead a short timeskip of him still as a kid but filling his new room with blueprints and prototype inventions, showing that while he’s going on a similar path as the timeline his time traveling son was from, the future isn’t always set in stone and on what happens for him afterwards can be either the exact future timeline or something even more extravagant.

Disney had a “sunset” period after the *end of the Disney renaissance,* which concluded officially with *Tarzan* (1999) and unofficially with *Lilo & Stitch* (2002.) There are *six “fragment” movies* which straggled off after the renaissance, when Disney was experiencing some internal power struggles and a lot of projects got cancelled. These movies were intentionally sabotaged during the power struggle surrounding the Exit of *Michael Eisner, Jeffery Katzenberg, and Steve Jobs* and the ascension of bean-counters. *the Emperor’s new Groove,* formerly *Kingdom of the Sun* which was nearly canned during production. The fight artists and employees had to put up to get this movie released was documented in the film *_The Sweatbox.* *Treasure Planet* *Atlantis: the Lost empire;* both of these movies were released against stiff competition from other producers, and failed at the box office. *Meet the Robinsons* *Home on the Range* *Chicken Little,* these two movies were critically panned on release, and have mixed reviews today; some people like them, some people hate them. These films were not well-known and not appreciated until the mid 2010s, with the exception of _New Groove._ Better known were the movies *Bolt* and *the Princess and the frog,* which were released in the closing days of the 2000s. Disney’s original studio methods were dying off rapidly due to corporate greed and internal takeover attempts, and great efforts were taken by the lower-level producers and scriptwriters to ensure these projects were not destroyed or adulterated. _Pixar_ carried Disney through the 2010s, but it was becoming clear near the end that they’d sold their souls for money and had lost their creative, fun center and become a multi-media conglomerate.

I wished I could look back on what I said but I still remember what I wrote as clear as day. I was going through a hard time in life where I felt alone, but sometimes life is like a movie, you just have to wait and see until it gets better. You just don't see your happy ending yet. Some dreams do come true if you just "keep moving forward." One day, this may all just be a memory you look back on and smile. And you thank yourself for sticking around to see all the love and happiness that surrounds you now. Please don't ever give up. One day you'll find your "Robinsons" too

I love this movie, so much. Every time it aired on Toon Disney/Disney Channel, I always tuned in because the movie is such a good time. Now that I’m older, I understand its message a lot clearer, and it doesn’t fail to get me in the feels. The animation isn’t the best-looking, especially for a 2007 film, but the writing and characters more than makes up for it. I’m even more happy that this movie actually appeared in Once Upon a Studio, the first time in over 15 years that it was acknowledged by Disney itself. It probably won’t happen, but I hope we get a short film showing Lewis/Cornelius in the years following the ending, along with Goob.
