Looks like he is enjoying himself with his family. Nothing wrong with that. Haters be damned

Not really any diff in amount of time or money spent than many spend on their hobbies, the difference is that they are all items on display in such amount. My first thought is too easy for someone to steal from him or he damage a fire would do. Would never want that on anyone. I would just worry too much to have them in the garage

yes - IF you do collect you DO understand. IT'S not a need, it's a desire to be complete, connected, a unit. I collect plastic Corvette kits, unopened, sealed - have only 800+.
This guy needs to open a museum. I would love to see all of these cars in person.

Good thinking. A collection of a couple thousand is ok. But 30000 is obssesive and Serves no purpose but cluttering up your house. (Though this guy has his collection well organized) I mean when you have three diecast deep on your wall....WHAT IS THE POINT??? You can't see them or enjoy them. Having 20 of the same car in different colors is a waste of money and they will never be worth anything more than he paid. Most likely less. A bit of advice. Collect what you like and don't feel obligated to buy every piece like this guy. Select each piece for it's uniqueness. I know collectors that collect just about every piece Hot Wheels releases EVERY YEAR. That amounts to at least 500 a year when you factor in all the Walmart exclusives and premiums sets. These same collectors also buy matchbox.
@Anth230
5 жыл бұрын
@Markus Patients Yeah..matchbox does a really nice job on the real cars but they release them several times. One sample of a particular casting is probably sufficient for any modern collection.
@Anth230
5 жыл бұрын
@Markus Patients lol...well they are gonna do it and it's not against store rules for the most part. I don't mind people who go in and raid a pallet and just take supers and the stuff they like. They got there first so good on them. What DOES bother me are the resellers that buy most of the store inventory making shortages of common stuff. But I won't feed into. I have fun collecting but NOTHING is worth the Hassel of paying more or driving all over the place to obtain.....i have better things to do and more rewarding hobbies to enjoy.
Just dropped from 2,300 cars to 1,800 cars recently. This hobby is fun and enjoyable no doubt but really sucks the money out of your bank. Some might justify it's okay because you're not spending it on drugs or alcohol. Regardless, in the end of the day it still is an addiction if you can't control yourself. Im glad this guy is genuinely happy with his collection. If he is able to financially sustain his hobby then that's great but a tip for newbie collectors reading this - Make sure you buy what you like and not recklessly spend your money or cars for the sake of collecting it only

Yep totally an addiction. When coronavirus occurs, i dont go to campus and i save 90% of my money. Since then i already buy like 70 diecasts, mostly $10 cars. But totally worth it when u know which type of diecast youre into (in which i decide i only collect limited models/discontinued brand), make u easier to stop on this hobby, since i dont have to keep up with the upcoming models🤣

I just began collecting in 2015, but from the start decided to focuse only on racing cars, only those who entered races in the remote 1967 season. Now, in 2021, I fulfilled quite my goals, and have only 576 models (mainly 1/43 but Around 60 in 1/18 and 1/12) . But I am happy I did it, will put all the models in special purpose built stands, and then stop. I am with Drifter D here, and I can tell you that ain't a problem to stop.At least for me : Why ? easy to guess, because it s know harder and harder to find models I don't have ! I spent a budget around 35000 USD, in seven years. Not a reasonable amount of money, but the average price of each car ( die cast, assembled kit, or kit to built ) was high priced, I wld guess higher than 70 USD ( 35 € = 30 USD was a low priced item in my research,) and with shipping costs. I used Ebay, and specialised shop, the only sustainable solution to find what I was looking after. advice : stay focused on what motivate you starting a die cast collection, concentrate on it, and once done, STOP.

Most collectors that stop collecting one thing end up collecting something else.
tbh a hobby like this is great... his kids can get into, bringing the family closer... he isn't out doing drugs or gambling... and he isn't spending wild amounts of money or expensive toys, just some good ol holsom hotwheels...

Toys are happiness. You can play or display them as long as you enjoy having them. I started one when I felt completely alone and depressed. They are my lifesaver, not entirely my life but part of my life and now I'm back on track in my life.

@@760jjsole8 yup, thank you hoping more and more people find happiness just as I did in collecting.
I love how he has included his family, and especially his daughter into this hobby. By giving her space, and displays of her own she can feel equally proud of what she has. For a child this feeling of equality is much better than entitlement, as they are doing this together. My sincere hope that you and your daughter continue to share hobbies whatever they may be as she grows.

A lot of spouses are about their social status / friends so a lot of times, even with the money, these 'toys' would be criticized so I'd say shes a good catch. From the looks of it event organizer & his wifes career must bring in some good income though.
This is one amazing collection and a great start to season two.
Absolutely amazing collection. As a collector, my concern is the weather affecting the cars in the garage, but space is a finite thing. You truly have the ultimate die cast collection! I would love to see these cars in person. Keep going!

Love this guy as many cars as he has he still seems to care about every single one
Great guy and great father , good for you Dad
My dad does this, he has about 4 or 5 Rubbermaid tubs full of them, all of them still have the original packaging. He also has about 60-70 thread cases that puts matchbox cars in, and they each hold about 40 cars.
Here from some Reddit comments from Halloween. Such an awesome and wholesome video. Made me almost tear up and go wow I can’t wait for my future with my fiancé and our kids some day. From the pictures I saw on Reddit that car in the garage has been finished! Loved this
This guy should start his own toy museum
Don't stop , keep going.Awesome.
Always love seeing Andy's collection!
Being a diecast racer here on KZread, I'd love to see more of that track he had set up by his '93 Mustang. That looked really nice!
man that's a hell of a collection! if he were to sell a few rare ones thats some big money
Much better than a SHOP !! More like heaven on earth. Congrats.
In my opinion, that is overboard. But to each their own! I'm a fan of only 1/18 high end such as autoart, kyosho, exoto etc. (only models that open, no resin). Pretty expensive hobby but seeing the collection grow and appreciating the level of detail is priceless

This is such an awesome collection! I got my first hotwheels a few years back, and now I've got some more... hotwheels are awesome.
My son and I have a large collection also. It's probably about half as many as this guy has. We love it too. And we build Lego together also. 🤗
This is a awesome collection, very impressive
The greatest hobby in the world in my opinion. I have been collecting for approximately 60 years ever since I received my very first Matchbox VW Beetle which I still have. I recently built a 16' X 24" toy room to house and display my 13,000 car & truck collection. I also like building the garage dioramas and layouts for photographing, as well as customizing and restoring these little gems. I must say, I never got into the Jada stuff. Very few made it into my collection. Some looked pretty cool, but the over sized wheels and out of proportion bodies never caught my eyes enough to purchase many. This gut has a fantastically nice and organized collection!!!
Thanks very much Andy brought back a lot of memories I’m 60 years old when I was a kid every Saturday my grandpa would take me to the store and I could pick out a matchbox car Your video brought back a lot of great memories thank you
This guy has an amazing collection of diecast cars. His next step should be to open a museum so other collectors can see and enjoy all the cars and sets he has collected over the years.
Wow, I collect these kind of matchbox cars myself, I said that I will stop at 10.000 but after seeing this I have to reconsider ! :D
WOW...good collection man.thanks for showing us around.
love it.....great collection and done so well. Truly top shelf collection

The value of this collection is astronomical! The 1/24 Jada stuff are priced anywhere from 20.00 to 50.00 and beyond! Beautiful collection though. I have collected Hot Wheels since I was a kid (I'm 61!) and have a couple thousand, mostly unopened. How are they still a buck? Best value in collectables!
the best part about this hobby is that he isnt losing money, he could sell all of his cars and actually make more money from them than what they cost brand new
Awesome collection, congratulations!
Hi Andy! Just found your page, thanks for sharing 👍

I definitely understand! I don't know how many cars I have in my collection. And almost every week, i'm either at Walmart buying more or online ordering some. I've been in love with cars since I was 4 - 5 years old! And I don't plan on stopping or selling!
Wow!!!That's absolutely Awesome!!!😎

AMAZING COLLECTION!!
Amazing
Great. WONDERFUL collection indeed. All cars I have, well the most part of them I don't have the boxes. This is in another level I have about 1500. Many of them I have played with since was a kid. I display them so that I can see them all. Of course with 30000 of them much more space needed. But still I have to take them out of the box. Many congrats for your wonderful collection.
I love this!!!!
