Everything is just app based now. So you can make the best phone, but if you don’t have a large enough group of people buying it out the gate, then you don’t get developers to make apps for it. so you can have the greatest phone in the world, but if it doesn’t have, Instagram or TikTok because the developers have decided that you don’t have a large enough base then nobody’s going to buy your phone even though you have the hardware. That’s kind of what happened to their earlier device.

No matter how god they make it it will always fail. because the market determined to make them fail. The Microsoft tax has been real since the days of the Windows Phone. media outlets like Engadget and The Verge started the whole "wait and see mantra" when WP had a lot of developers and consumer support. That killed sales. They did it on purpose. Android was the open software darling despite being ugly, and glitchy and general consumers thought it an annoyance. But they picked that horse and it paid off. after a year, developers who were making apps for WP was discouraged because of the wait-and-see matra, and WP started to haemorrhage. which caused Microsoft to do desperate things that ultimately led to it's end. If they make another one, it will happen again.

Unless the animation is inaccurate, there's no more pogo pins. Hopefully, this doesn't make the laptop heavier due to the keyboard battery. Also, I hope the keyboard is more durable with a replaceable battery.

My Surface Pro 4 has hit 7 years, and its 0.9 GHz Core m3 is too slow to support Windows 11. Since Windows 10 reaches End of Life on October 14th, 2025, I am looking at retiring it. Finding a way to reconfigure the device as a graphics tablet seems like a good project to avoid turning it into e-waste. Hopefully, simply engaging the digitizer won't trigger "flicker gate" on the device like GIMP does.

Can't wait to get my hands on one...wished they did trade-in in UK too (Although I guess USD900 for SP9 i7 32GB is not much of a trade in, but still better than USD360 with the new new purchase)
