    I met Jessie Duplantis when my mom was dying. He was a guest at a church i visited a few times. I seriously sensed evil. Had his products for sale across from tha altar Reason Jesus tossed tables over in the synagogue. Would not pray for the church or anyone had him velvet roped off from the congregation. I couldnt wait to go home utterly appalled. Like he was a rock star not a man of God a liar and a fraud is what i saw.

    "'I'm a serious exorcist. I don't believe in all this movie stuff. It discredits the whole profession.' That's what you'd be thinking if you believed your own nonsense." William Peter Blatty, who wrote "The Exorcist" was a true believer, and I think he was pretty involved in the movie. As a consequence, Catholics (not sure about Lutherans) who believe in exorcism tend to take that movie fairly seriously. They accept that it's heavily dramatized and embellished, but they still treat it as more or less true to the reality.

  • @Kerify

    That's bc it is. *Exorcism's are very real.* But you are correct; that movie definitely doesn't help the matter in any way. Bc it's absolutely not possible for a 67 yr old woman to climb up a 15 foot vertical wall in front of 347 people! It just doesn't happen!! It's literally *IMPOSSIBLE!* I've seen it myself, unfortunately...with 346 others at a speaking engagement. (Something I've NEVER ever thought I'd say)

    Lutherans do NOT do Catholic exorcisms. Movies are entertainment for some people and moneymakers for others. Also, Christians who have dealt with the demonic tend to be very selective about sharing information, and most do not write books nor make money off of them. All glory should be given to God. People may crave the forbidden, what they think is hidden, taboo and shocking but if they do not know what the Bible says about such things, they are playing with fire. We are to test the spirits, expose the dark, be the salt and light to the world, fix our eyes on Jesus, and pray for all people including people we do not like and those who do not know God. Proverbs 16:17-21 "17 The highway of the upright avoids evil; those who guard their ways preserve their lives. 18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. 19 Better to be lowly in spirit along with the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud. 20 Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers,[a] and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord. 21 The wise in heart are called discerning, and gracious words promote instruction.[b]"

    Exposure therapy is certainly a thing, and while it's not consistently effective, when it does work it's surprisingly effective. Certain types of people do it more easily than others, and it needs to be carefully structured--especially at first. When I was 15, I wad in a car that was hit head-on by a drunk driver on the highway. Obviously I have strong feelings about DUI and general substance abuse, though I quickly learned that I can't possibly stop all, or even many people from using or from driving when under the influence. In college, under the advice of a psychiatrist, I started befriending people who might do such things in an effort to understand the phenomenon. It helped open my mind and develop parts of my brain that were injured in the crash, though it feels gross to count how many addicts I think of as good friends. With every choice we make, we sacrifice something, and some things aren't worth the cost. Some things are, and it differs for each of us. Thank you for exploring the difficult topics!

  • @glennryan646

    @glennryan646

    He wasn't a priest. Christ gave the power to drive out demons to the apostles, of whom the Catholic bishops and Priests are directly appointed from. Therefore it is a question of authority. The demons know very well who they answer too, and this is why they loath the Catholic Bishops more than any other individual. Look up Father Ripperger, or Father Lampert and have a look at these indivduals that actually have authority over the demons.

  • @GTX1123

    @GTX1123

    @@glennryan646 Catholic exorcists directly appointed by the Catholic church are not the only followers of Christ who can cast out demons. I've been a follower of Christ for 43 years and have cast demons out of people and assisted in doing so. While it is true that a spiritually immature Christian should never try to cast demons out of someone on their own, it's not because they don't have authority as a Christian to cast them out. It's rather because demons are very very very crafty and doing deliverance ministry should never be entered into lightly. In the Congregations I've been a part of, we typically have people experienced in that kind of ministry who are usually in leadership. Recently I had a situation with someone I am discipling who is fairly young in his faith but doing great in his spiritual growth. About 5 months ago he had a situation with someone he has been sharing the Gospel with straight up attack him. He had to subdue this individual and recognized that this was demonic. He bound the demons in this man as he was subduing him and cast them out. When the attacker came to, he was calm and didn't even remember attacking my friend - this is one of a couple of signs that a person is demonized. The point of that story is that my friend didn't have time to call me or anyone else to come help him but the demons had to obey the authority of the Lord.

    @@conniesalamy8486 I'm glad to see priests casting demons out and leading the person to Christ even though I'm not a Catholic. My point is that any Christian who knows and walks in their authority in God can cast them out. That's because the authority is in Christ not in men. In Matthew 17 we have the account of Jesus rebuking the disciples because they couldn't cast a demon out of a boy. Jesus said "this kind comes not out but by prayer and fasting". They had the authority to cast it out but they didn't have the faith to do it. Sometimes the possession is so strong that it requires the Christians who are doing the deliverance ministry, to first enter into a time of prayer and fasting to build up their faith. I assisted in a deliverance ministry one time where the evil that was coming out of a person we were casting devils out of, was very heavy. It was so heavy that there was a strong urge to run out of the room but I had enough faith to stand against the evil that was pouring out of this person. I was in that room with the deliverance ministry team for 5 hours. The person finally did get totally delivered.

They have now spent a lifetime lying to themselves and dealing with the guilt of it all, but the fact is that walking out to rescue would have saved a lot of psych trauma.

    "they did not have to eat the dead but chose that out of fear and ignorance" This is a judgement made by someone who was not there and who most probably has never experienced starvation and that level of trauma. We cannot judge if we haven't had that experience.

    They didn’t think they could walk out. Obviously you have no idea of what hiking in a steep Mountain Range I like. First they went through terrible trauma just by wrecking, then they ate all the available food while waiting to be rescued, which was a logical decision, how could they know they wouldn’t be rescued. It would have been stupid initially to separate from the wreckage because rescue workers would look for the wreckage. Then when they realized that they weren’t going to be rescued they were traumatized and weak from starvation. Personally I don’t think what they did was wrong. If I were dead and my loved ones could survive by eating a body my soul no longer inhabited, I would be honored to provide them with sustenance.

    Very interesting show! I am a 50 year old woman was a tomboy kind of still is, growing up I hung out with only boys, was raised by my dad and brother, my dad would treat me like one of the boys which I was cool with that, it made me stronger I guess, I wasn't a whiner, didn't cry over spilled milk etc.. When I was about 14 my mom left us I also have 2 older sisters, I think I stayed 14 for some reason not wanting to grow up, but had to grow up faster, my point is I've hung out with boys, let me start by saying I have no will to see or do ANYTHING sexually harmful to anyone! I think I never really grew up in some aspect because I still like video games, being goofy like 14 year olds do and say! It just happens that boys tend to wanna come over and play video games and joke and laugh and be kids, they see no threat with me either, with their mom or dad close like a house away it has been asked "why is an adult letting you guys come over all the time, one boy said because she like one of us, as in being a kid!! I think maybe it makes me also feel safe as no one will try and abuse me also like adult men have always tried! I mean I think maybe having to grow up too fast, I hadn't enjoyed enough as a kid? Their are circumstances like mine that are strictly innocent and the bad ones make everyone guilty! Sucks!!

Now, I grew up in a very German group of Lutheran churches in the United States (dating back to my ancestors who came from Germany in the early 1800s). German Lutherans are like the most staid, boring, stern, traditional people in terms of their religious beliefs. Now, there might be some other "looser" Lutherans, but it's not what their known for in the US (sort of mostly German and Scandanavian groups of Lutherans).

    “Only once in my life did I attend an exorcism- but that was more than enough. It was performed by Father Adrian: literally devilish and inhuman cries and shouts eerily resounding in a church packed full of people. The people were growling, bleating, squealing, and crowning. Some were cursing so vilely that I wanted to cover my ears. Others were spinning on the ground like tops and slamming themselves with force onto the floor - and in all these cases it was obvious that these people absolutely had no desire to do what they were doing. … It is said that one day high- ranking Soviet authorities arrived at the monastery and, unfortunately for themselves, wished to inspect all of the sites of the monastery without any exception. This included the out-the-way church from which strange yells were emerging. …Father Adrian happened to be saying the exorcism prayers. The visitors were petrified when they saw people rolling around on the floor and screaming with savage voices. But imagine the shock of these high- ranking Soviet guests when one of the ladies who had come along with their group, who happened to be herself a very high- ranking official, suddenly began to hiss and meow like a cat in heat, screaming and rolling around the floor of the entire church- on top of which she began using such language that even experienced men of the world have never heard anything more revolting. Later this lady came back to visit the monastery. This time she was all alone. …what had been wrong with her? …”You have a demon inside you. That’s what’s causing your troubles”. …The lady began to visit the monastery frequently, CONFESSED ALL THE SINS OF HER LIFE, and took Communion. The demonic attacks ceased and were never repeated. Soon Father Adrian said that she no longer needed to attend any exorcisms: her belief in Christ, her new life according to God’s commandments, and her participation in the sacraments of the Church all were sufficient to drive out spiritual filth from the human soul. However, Father Adrian himself began to have problems soon after this, because this lady took no measures to conceal her new attitude towards religion…” (Archimandrite Tikhon “Everyday Saints and other stories”)

    I was the target of a pedophile, and that man was my father, whom I later put in prison. After a lot of therapy and multiple decades, I understand that paedophilia is a number of things. It is a mental illness, a sexual preference, and also a crime. And it is all of those things in co-existence. While I do not condone acting on the impulse, I kind of respect those men who go to the clinic to seek help, because they are seeking treatment for a mental illness, and that is kind of brave.

The documentary had several actual cannibals interviewed and one of them said that human flesh tastes like strong pork. With that being said, the ad being possibly for ham is incredibly ironic. That’s the reason why I won’t eat 99.99% of pork. I will only eat pepperoni and Italian sausage. I avoid the pork when I get lasagna that has it. I only eat bacon on BLTs and that’s only once in a long while.

    I have done one myself on my best friend just by a very strange chain of events one very strange night. When it reached its peak she threw her head back and coughed up a huge dust cloud that hung there for a second and then instantly dissapated . At that very second the entire kitchen (that we were in) went dark - not just the lights off but all the appliances aswell, and only in the kitchen, and only for a second. Which is literally impossible to do. It all came back on like half a second later and we just stood there staring at each other crying and drenched with sweat. If that hadn't happened I really wouldnt have believed that we had actually even done anything. I now know that there is good and there is evil and they know about each other. I somehow still don't really believe in Jesus as such but I know that his name holds power in more world's than just ours.

    You asked about people who believe in exorcisms and to respond, I guess that means to answer here?...do I believe they are real, actually yes. I belong to a very conservative church and our church actually has a location in Madagascar that deals with them a great deal and there are people who have visited the compound and recorded them. However, that said, most that are done take a long time to do because you have to medically and mentally evaluate the person claiming to be possessed or acting possessed and brought by family. There is a Catholic exorcist in the US, I think there is only one, I am not Catholic so I am not sure if they have been able to recruit more. I do know when Pope John Paul II asked for the Catholic church to re-instate the exorcists, my church was one church that still practiced the ability and we did work with the Catholics to help them recover the practice. I do know the Catholic priest in the US travels with a full medical team, a medical doc and a psychiatrist and sometimes a psychologist. We don't take demon possession or exorcism lightly and you must make sure there is not some underlying issue like schizophrenia or bipolar or something of that sort. I haven't been to Madagascar myself but have talked to a deaconess who has, she said it is a different world when you deal with demons. She did not perform them. They are certain people who do, not everyone can. Interviews and examinations of the person are intense and can last weeks or months in some locations depending on the symptoms of what may appear to be a demon possession. We stay quiet about it in my church, especially in the US because we don't want to deal with a circus or several people claiming they have a demon but are clearly mentally unstable. So it is a quiet thing but not unheard of. When pastors come from other countries to the US that are more used to seeing overt demon possession, they are amazed at how much the Western societies deny, which works of course in the demons favor. I will say this in closing, if you believe that God can work through you and you believe in God, you, by all rights, must believe in demons because to believe in God is to believe in the Bible and Jesus himself performed several exorcism. The demons haven't left earth, they are just better at hiding in our Western culture. A true exorcist would not have treat this gentleman in this manner so I can understand why he is skeptical and rightly so. Most of them are run of mill guys, pastors or priests that are humble, quiet and ask a lot of questions, listening to the answers.

    Why do I have to? my husband is a priest and does not believe in demons not personalized evil. You really dont have to believe it to be christian. Those ancient texts were written with some kind of understanding of the common reality surrounding the people, mixed with the specs of their belief systems - so no surprise demons. Did you know that the belief in angels and demons comes from the persian belief system and was not an orginal part of jewish belief? NOr the belief in resurrection. Yet in the times of Jesus the belief in resurrection was highly discussed among israeli priests (who believed it) and pharisees who denied it. But no priest told a pharisee, he was not a true believer, nor vice versa.

But that is beside the point, the daughter was a child and had nothing to do with it. I lost some respect, when I saw you judging her in such a low manner. Interesting. Some information about exorcism. Possession must be proved by certain specific characteristics.. incredible strength, knowledge of the occult (secrets that only one person may know), aversion and detection of sacred, knowledge that the person should not have, eg speaking ancient Greek. Priests do not cast out demons. Jesus, acting through the priest does, and sometimes Mary, so no real exorcist will boast of his accomplishments. Real exorcisms are never done publicly because it's not a show, demons make the possessed act in humiliating ways, and demons know all the sins everyone in the room has committed and will announce them. Sad this man is mocking a terrible affliction.
